I don't like all the stuff they did (ripping other artists off and taking all the royalty money, for example), however, they HAVE released some classic albums.

I don't see how they ripped other bands off... I haven't really heard anything past the first 4 albums though, those are masterpieces of music as far as I'm concerned. Also, they and The Beatles are the only bands I know of that after more than 20 years from the time they split, still have people wearing their t-shirts. Led-Zeppelin is awesome. Robert Plant is one of the greatest vocal talents to ever live, and Jimmy Page is both a musical and a lyrical genius. John Bonham was one of the greater old drummers, and John Paul Jones is a pretty good bassist. Led-Zeppelin is a great band that has had a profound influence on music as a whole.

Pink Floyd,The Doors,Hendrix.I have seen all of those shirts.
And yes, they were basically a half-assed blues ripoff, with some damn catchy songs.I mean,Led Zeppelin I and II were both heavily blues based.

It's well known that they ripped off several blues artists, musically and lyrically, and never gave them credit. Oh, ever heard of Dazed and Confused? That's a cover song, too. Also, notice the song writing credits for every "cover" song. They give themselves credit, too, even though they haven't really changed the song. This type of thing was done primarily on the first four albums. http://www.furious.com/perfect/jimmypage.html This gives more information on the subject.

tolkien *sighs* You make me sad. If you don't like the Led, then thats you're problem and don't be so mean. Please Read my first post. I DO like Led Zeppelin, however, I'm also not going to ignore things that they've done that are downright wrong and pretend that they never happened. I'm not being "mean", I'm stating known facts.

I'll make it simple: Don't shoot the messenger. Ripping off other artists is ripping off other artists, no matter who does it. If you'd like, I can point to a few very specific cases where music and/or lyrics were stolen, and the original artist wasn't given credit. Hell, the big hit "Dazed and Confused" is one of those songs. gonk

and??????you've used that example before, or maybe you can't come up with any more. And If Dazed and Confused is a cover song who cares. Thats not even ripping off. There are plenty of other artists that of cover songs, so go whine about them in another thread!

They treated it as their own song and stole royalties for it, rather than crediting the original artist. Another example is "The Lemon Song", among other things. If you want even more examples, check the article.

Dazed and Confused was a Yardbirds song i belive (written by Jake Holmes), and it was called "Im so Confused" at the time. Zep just changed the name. Though lets not kid ourselves folks. Its not like ALL of Zep's songs were covers. They just took credit for writing them. Thats wrong, but its all about music anyway.
Im not a huge fan of zepplien, but i own a few albums, Houses of The Holy being my favorite.

Im not a huge fan of zepplien, but i own a few albums, Houses of The Holy being my favorite. It was a Jake Holmes song, the Yardbirds covered it, then Led Zeppelin stole it. (There's actually a live Yardbirds album that Jimmy Page refuses to let them release, because it would show that the song Dazed and Confused wasn't originally a Led Zeppelin song) I never said all of Zep's songs were covers, however, alot of their more famous stuff did borrow lyrics and/or music from other artists. Although, I must wonder why they felt the need to rip off lyrics from two different songs in Lemon Song. When it comes to their own material, though, they've released some great stuff, and classic albums like Sozo (IV). I'll give them that much credit.
