 Miyako sat down on the rocky mountain outcrop. Far from any source of light, and high enough to cut down on atmospheric interference, it was a good place for star gazing. She started setting up her telescope, and set out her star-map. She quickly became engrossed in her work, especially once she had the telescope ready to go and she began searching out constellations.

 Quietly Silence climbed up what seemed to be the rockiest part of the mountain as she huffed and puffed her way toward the top. It didn't bother her really. She loved the challenge and the adventure it gave her and she never knew what was going to be at the top. But what was her favorite of all, was being able to gaze up at the stars in all their beauty and map them out in her mind, each constellation that she could.
Grabbing what she hoped was the last rocky edge, she tried to hoist herself up and over, but slipped with a gasp and squeal of fear as she clawed at another edge, catching a hold.

Miyako was startled from her work by what sounded like another faekat in trouble. She'd never run into another up on this mountain, though... Puzzled, she put aside her star chart and looked over the edge of her outcrop. A short ways below, she saw the Majerae hanging precariously to the ledge. It wouldn't be too hard to get from where she was down to where she could help. "Hold on, I'll be right there!" She scrambled down over the scree, careful not to slip as well.

Silence looked up to see who had spoken and was equally surprised to see someone else there. "Oh thank you!" she thanked with a smile as she reached up to cling to the side with both hands in a good position allowing her the most grip she could possibly get. Silence glanced down at her feet. One was simply hanging off in a manner of speaking, and the other had a good foothold in the crevice of two scraggly edges. "I'm usually a good climber, but it seems tonight is proving to be a challenge. I'm sorry to have to interrupt you!"

Miyako smiled down at the other fae as she finally reached the ledge Silence had been climbing onto when she slipped. "It's no problem. And this part of the peak has a lot of scree, you should practice climbing it in the day when the light is good before trying at night. Here, give me your paw and I'll pull you up." She reached down, wrapping both paws around one of Silence's, and started to pull the Majerae up onto the ledge.

"I'll say," Silence grabbed a hold of Miyako's paw as she was hauled up. Slowly, or as fast as she could, Silence used her legs to help climb up, rather than just being pulled up. For one, she didn't want the Fae to struggle too much with helping her up and two she felt almost . . . weak. It was weird; she knew it but she couldn't help it. Silence had always felt awkward when being helped by another.
As soon as she was up on the rocky mountain outcrop, she took in a deep breath of air and sighed, "It's beautiful!" Silence looked to the Fae and smiled, holding out her hand, "Thank you for helping me! I don't know how long I could've hung there for. My name is Silence, what's yours?"

Miyako shook her hand. "I'm Miyako. Yeah, I love it up here, that's why I come here to stargaze. But I've slipped a few times, too... it can be dangerous, in the dark." She pointed to one side. "It's easier over there, there's sort of a path. But a lot of loose rocks, still, so you have to be careful. As I said, better to scout it out in the daytime before you try to come up at night. Or come with a friend," she finished with a grin.
Miyako started to climb back up to her outcrop. "Do you like looking at the stars? I have a telescope set up, and a star chart."

Silence followed the direction in which she pointed and peered at the spot. Her eyes srunched up against the darkness of the night, she tried to make out the path and barely caught sight of it, "Ah, it would be better to climb up that way. Less likely to hurt oneself," Silence smiled turning back to Miyako.
She followed the Fae and lit a small ball of light in her hand. It only somewhat resembled a star, or at least the way it twinkled. Silence knew it would take her nearly a lifetime to perfect her magic, just like her mother before her. "Like it? I love it! The stars are one of the things I live for every night! It's hard for me to go to sleep, so I sleep a lot during the day time. Do you like gazing at the stars?"

Miyako grinned widely. "I'm an amateur astronomer, although I'd like to try turning it into a career. I know all the good spots around here to stargaze, and this is one of my favorites." She gestured to her telescope and star chart as they approached. "I've been working on mapping all the stars I can see. That's a star chart I bought, the one I'm making myself is in my bag." The telescope was very nice, clearly designed for looking at the stars.

"I've never met an amateur astronomer! I didn't even know there were still astronomers around," Silence said in a state of awe. Sure there were Faes who knew where each constellation or planet was among the stars, but they didn't take the time to map them out as Miyako did. "I'm sure you'll become one of the best! You sure do know what you're doing and the telescope looks amazing," she touched one paw to it, tracing along the tube-like structure. "I only star gaze, as in, I simply watch the stars. Never have I thought of being an astronomer but learning how to control magic has been time consuming."
Silence walked over to stand at the end of the telescope, "May I?"

"Of course there are still astronomers around! Why wouldn't there be?" Miyako gave her a confused look. "And sure, go ahead and use the telescope. I've got all night, and I'm not in any rush." She grinned. It was kind of fun to have someone up here to talk with. She'd have to find a couple of her favorite stars, to show to her new friend.

"I don't know, the others just seem. . . Fake. I've met others, but they've bought their own star map, they haven't mapped them out themselves like you're trying to do," Silence said as she leaned down. Closing one eye, she peered into the lens and grinned widely when she saw the stars so close. "I know many say this, but they're breath taking!" Silence looked up from the telescope and back to Miyako. It had been a while since she'd made any new friends and she found she liked having someone else around to talk to. "I think you're a more unique astronomer, and you look like you were born for it too! Do you come here often?"

"Here, or one of several other places." Miyako pointed to another peak, visible in the distance. "There's another good outcrop over there, and there are a couple other peaks around that are nice. I come out most nights that are clear, either to look at the stars, or if there's too much moonlight for that, to look at the moon." She grinned. "Yeah, I've always loved the stars, I guess I kinda was?"
She came over to Silence, peaked through the telescope, adjusted it, and then let the other fae have it. "I really like the stars around there. Take a look!"
