Who: Alex, Kenth, Xuelian & Zul When: Morning Where: Lab 305 Weather: Clear sky, chill air
It had come time for the phone call to be made.
Alex left a pleasant, professional message on the doctor's phone early in the morning, asking for him to come in at his earliest convenience - his Raevan had been born and was ready to go home with him.
She sat on the edge of the desk, arms crossed, waiting. If she knew Kenth - and she liked to think she did, to some degree - he wouldn't put this off, and that he'd be there sooner than later. She idly tugged on a strand of hair, the dark locks left down in her hurry. The woman wore an olive tank top and black jeans over black boots, her normal attire, but unusual in that she had finally ceased to try and hide her arms. They were, for the most part, nearly completely healed; her sun-kissed skin looked mostly unblemished, though there was a tightness by her joints. There were a few rough patches still scabbed over, the skin grafts still drawing taut white lines where they were healing over, but it was almost done.
In truth, she had simply forgotten herself. She wasn't ready to face him, but she didn't have a choice. Just do your job...
Zul was alight with excitement. He had already floated back to the laboratory portion of the building, doing his customary knock before letting himself in, back turned to let the newborn see him. When he turned to look...well, he wasn't sure what he was expecting. Another male, to be sure, but that was only the first surprise. The second was that she was beautiful. He'd attested the word to LuLu and Cordelia, but this one...was different.
She was dainty. An embrace of frigid ocean teal, but holding all the warmth of the spring sun, accented with a pale frost. Her skin was tan in comparison, or maybe it was just that her light colors made it seem that way, but Zul wasn't entirely able to tell the difference. There was a sunset pink of her wings, rooted by those petal-like tipped pieces, accented by the darker magenta strings. She was all softness and delicateness, gentle like a breeze. There was something hardy about her, something full and alive, but his first glance was turning into an unblinking stare, making his own eyes a bit sore with the effort. And her eyes...!
"Hello," he murmured quietly. If ever there'd been a female that he wanted to claim as a beautiful bauble, he was looking at her.

Kenth was certain he was ready for the day to come, but he was wrong. The doctor found his heart suddenly became faster in pace when Alex's calm words reached in his ears. There was one kind of feeling that stirred Kenth, that the woman would actually call him. The second feeling was far more overwhelming, and, although Kenth expected the news to come after a long period of waiting, he could not calm himself down. The birth of his Raevan was a key that unlocked a new world, a new field of research, a vast forest of knowledge that he had never encountered before. He was excited, he had never been this excited since...well, Kenth wasn't sure if he had ever been this excited before now. Perhaps growing older made him easier to be excited, too.
Almost immediately after Alex's message ended the doctor grabbed his coat and walked out of his clinic, almost forgetting to lock his workplace in the process. The chilly weather outside was not enough to cool Kenth's mood. Taxi was relatively easy to find around the area, and the doctor found himself storming into Lab 305 a moment that could only be described as too long.
"W-where is it?" The doctor burst out while making his grand appearance at the lobby. He was out of breath, but nonetheless adjusted himself so that his face looked composed. Alex was a presence that usually brought hesitation within him, but not today. Today he had only one goal, to see his Raevan, and to bring it home with him.
His Raevan, his key.
-----------------------------------
Green blue eyes slowly opened, and slowly surveyed the room around them with curiosity. This was her birthplace, it was quiet, dark, and cool. Strange looking objects stood around her were quiet, only with occasional beeping from certain metal boxes nearby. The room was not harmful, she felt safe, and comfortable. Her delicate mouth curved up, and was immediately amused by the mechanisms of her own body. She turned her eyes from the surrounding to look down at herself. A pair of limbs, clothes that she was unfamiliar with, and...translucent ribbons . In short, she was different from her surrounding, she was unique...only for a moment.
The door of the laboratory room was opened, and beyond the panels she saw a being moving into the room. She inched away a little, and was surprised that she was able to move. But her attention must not be divided, so she turned to face the creature who had just came in. He was different from her...he didn't dress in flowers and robes. But there was also something similar about him, such as how he also had a spiral of ribbons. It made her wonder if there were more ribbon creatures beyond the door and waiting for her. The thought was strange, but it didn't seem too intimidating.
The creature that had came in looked at her and, she thought, made a sound. A sound? If he can make a sound, does that mean she can too? She opened her mouth so that it formed a similar shape as his mouth.
How do I make a sound--?
She didn't need to worry about the process, as she soon discovered. Her body was capable enough to know how to create sound. "H---hello." She responded softly, then covered her mouth with her fingers and stared at the creature with her eyes wide open. She knew how to make a sound! How strange! The sound didn't match his however, for his sound was a lot deeper. Still, she was amazed by her own voice, a soft, gentle tone, a dainty tone almost too small for even herself. "Hello."She repeated the word a few times, her smile growing wider with each repetition.

Green eyes turned upwards as the door simply couldn't open fast enough to admit the eager doctor, her stomach plummeting into coldness. Despite her initial reaction, her lips curved into a bemused smile, unfolding her arms and pushing herself off the desk. "Her," Alex corrected his statement, picking up a clipboard-held contract from her desk and a pen. She approached the excited man, handing the objects to him without preamble. He'd know what it was for, being a man of medical necessity.
"Sign it, we'll worry about a name afterwards." She tapped the blank spot on top before indicating the bottom with the 'X' for him to sign next to. "Then I'll take you to her."
His pointed, dark brows began to lift as she began to mirror his motions, though he didn't realize what she was doing immediately. For one brief, perfect moment, he was worried that she was going to be mental like the last one - but she proved him deliciously wrong yet again by speaking, mimicking his own greeting. Zul couldn't help but grin, a lop-sided but impressed expression, nodding his head to her. "That's good," he continued, his tone smoky but slow so she could hear him clearly.
The demon floated just a little closer, but not near enough to touch, keeping his distance. It was hard because she was...cute. Zul was only now satisfied with that word, as it fit her rather admirably. He wanted to touch her hair, to better look at the strange flower on her shoulder, but he was very mindful of letting her do as she pleased during this time. Lifting a hand, he pressed it over his chest, one finger tapping against his collar bone to indicate himself. "I am Zul," he introduced himself in the same slow, warm manner, "it is nice to meet you."
The more he watched her, the more he felt her impression; it was cool, pale, otherworldly. Everything seemed almost bland in comparison to her vivid coloring and that smile that was quickly becoming endearing. She was, perhaps, the first friendly newborn he'd ever met. "Your man will be here soon." Zul smiled again, trying to be reassuring though he felt a bit silly himself. What would Kenth think? "He'll take good care of you."

Kenth breathed in heavily. "Her." A female Raevan, much unlike the ones he had met, which consisted mainly of males (save for one, but that one didn't leave him a very good impression). The doctor wasn't sure what to make his feeling at Alex's words. All he knew was that the excitement hadn't faded a bit. Swiftly he took hold of the paperwork that the other handed him, followed instructions as fast as possible, and looked up at Alex when he was finished. "Here, and thank you." Kenth handed the clipboard back to Alex. He didn't read the contract carefully to say the least, but he didn't want to waste any more time on paperworks and other routine procedures. He wanted to see the Raevan, as soon as possible.
-----------------------------------------
"Hello." She mouthed the word for one more time before the other creature started to make sound again. This time the sound was different, and much longer than the one he had produced before. The new-born tilted her head to the side, trying to follow what Zul said. She was new to this world, and most of the words were unfamiliar to her and made no sense in her mind. From the way the creature acted she could assume that she had pleased him. The thought cheered her up a little. The creature in front of her, who had inched even closer, was gentle, and most likely meant no harm. The female Raevan could only nod at his words for they were still too long for her to register at once. There was one word, however, that was short enough for her to grasp on. "Zoo..?" She repeated his name, wondering what it meant. "Zoo. Hello...Zoo."These were the two words that she learned, what a fruitful day.
At the male Raevan's next words she perked up. He was talking again, things that she comprehend. The only thing she could do was to respond using the tiny vocabulary she already knew. "Zoo...?"She questioned, his flurry of words echoed in her mind for a fleeting second before fading away. Would she and the nice creature stay like this, talking forever?

"Her," Alex repeated in confirmation, accepting the returned items and giving the contract a brief once-over. The man was good at following directions when it was to his benefit, at least. Without a second glance, she put the clipboard and pen on her desk, giving a singular nod and tilting her chin that indicated he should follow her. Words were obsolete to her about now; it was the job to do, and she could see that the new Guardian was eager. Wasting time would do neither of them any favors.
Her boot-steps echoed against the hallway as she lead him beyond a few closed doors, to the end of the tile floor in front of a wall that had a single door down its full length. It was this one that she stopped at, turning to make sure he was still there, not that she expected him to get lost from point a to point b. Just as silently, Alex knocked on the door to warn the two within that they were entering, her other hand gripping the handle and turning. The door opened with a quiet whooshing sound of one on hydraulics, and there she stood, holding it open for him.
A soft chuckle returned the inquisitive word, half formed and not quite right but well enough. "Zul," the demon confirmed, crossing his arms over his half-formed chest with an amused smile. It was one of the more unusual meetings he'd had with a newborn; there was no fear, no vacancy in those eyes, just a gentle type of wonder and pleasant warmth of curiosity. Zul found it to be a bit of a fresh breath of air, a coolness in his lungs.
Before he could begin to wonder what question she was posing to him with his name, he heard the knock, glancing over his shoulder with mild disappointment. He'd wanted more time with her! Zul exhaled to hide his irritation, turning his attention back to the newborn with another light smile. "He's here," he murmured, floating to the side so that he wasn't obstructing the view from the doorway. "Your man. Come meet him, pretty one." His words were a soft purr of encouragement, all smoke and gentleness. He hoped that Kenth would have enough presence of mind to exhibit the same qualities to the soft femme.

Kenth was glad that Alex did not waste much time. The meeting with his Raevan was so close that he'd not want to extend the waiting any longer. Alex know this fact, about how eager he was. It was a trait that never changed since he was young. Usually he was seen as cold and aloof, but when it comes to work, to new things pertaining to his interest, Kenth never wasted a second.
His eyes focused intently on the woman's back, though he looked beyond her to see where they were going. It wasn't a long walk, although for the doctor it felt longer. When Alex stopped at a door Kenth found his heart skip a beat. It had been a while since he was this excited, even his body could hardly handle it. When the door was finally opened the doctor managed to force a deep breath. It didn't do much, but was enough to move his muscles. Hearing his own heart pounding like thunder beside his ears, Kenth took a step forward into the room, finding Zul, Alex's subject, and a small patch of teal behind him.
That...must be her, his Raevan.
The teal Raevan was content with the conversation---if one can call it a conversation at all. Her lack of vocabulary made the talk short and simple, but the other was gentle and patient. She had a feeling that she was liked, or, at least, not disliked. She became more confident, and was about to repeat his name again when a strange sound came from a corner of the room. Blue eyes opened wide, startled at the sudden noise, and shifted uncomfortably to Zul, who had also noticed the intrusion of...two more individuals. She blinked, peeking behind from the male Raevan to watch the strangers as they came in. Zul was saying something to her, then suddenly she was no longer sheltered by him. The intruders were more clear in sight now. Their faces were similar in construction with Zul, but they were also quite different. The female stared at them with wonder, scanning them from head to toe. Yes...toe. They were more complete than she was. They did not have ribbons, but had legs. As the strangers began to move closer to her she felt her mouth drop open, amazed at how the legs moved. Were they older versions of her? Could she have those legs when she grow up?
"Zoo..." She murmured as a mark of exclamation. Seeing the other Raevan moving out of the way, she was getting the impression that he wanted her to greet them. She trusted him, which meant the two intruders weren't bad people either. With that thought she floated closer to the doorway, smiling as brightly as she could, and not forgetting to show off the word she learned.
"Hello, zoo!" She spoke, waving a little to the strangers to come closer.

After the man stepped in, she didn't hear his voice, but he heard the newborn's and was immediately pleased. She was learning speech already? Alex slipped into the laboratory, closing the door behind her and turning her green eyes towards her to find the most delicate and sweet looking being she'd ever seen in her life. The Italian swore her teeth hurt just looking at her, and when she greeted them as 'zoo,' she couldn't stop the laugh that bubbled from her lips.
"Oh my goodness," she gushed, taking a few steps forward to stand next to Kenth, all her previous doom-and-gloom evaporating in the face of that smile. Part of her was exuberant that the man had been paired with a femme whose smile lit the whole room. She could feel her own heart expand with warmth and joy just by looking at her. "You're...beautiful! Hello, lovely!" Alex lifted one of her hands, waving back but coming no closer; she would wait for Kenth to get in his greeting. It was important, even if she couldn't help but giggle and gaze fondly at the newborn.
The demon also grinned at her greeting, shaking his head and extending his hand to her, indicating that she should also come forward to meet them halfway. "Not Zul," his grin expanded, finding the partial nickname to be endearing, "this is Kenth. Your man." He pointed to the white-haired man, repeating, "Kenth." He then pointed to himself, stating, "Zul." His dark brows lifted to see if the newborn was following him or if he was just confusing her. The demon could still remember when he had first come to awareness, repeating a greeting to his woman and about scaring her out of her wits.
Which reminded him that he'd had yet to introduce her! Floating a little closer to the female Frei, he extended his hand to his woman in a more personal motion, stating, "Alix. She's my woman, just like he's your man. We all have names, and you will too, when he finds yours." Zul turned his scrutinizing blue eyes to the doctor, expecting some sort of answer or words for the newborn. Certainly he couldn't just stand there and gawk all day, right?

As Zul's figure moved away and him moving forward to bring their distance closer, Kenth could now get a better view at his Raevan. At first, there was a few blinks, then as if the doctor was struck by lightning, every cell in his body seemed to have stopped moving seeing the newborn.
If there was a word to describe her...she was beautiful. No, not even that word could do justice on how she looked and how he felt about her. There was a great surge of emotion that suddenly swelled up in his mind, most of it being excitement, but others were something even himself could not decipher. The doctor wasn't sure he liked the feeling, it was too strong for him. Nonetheless, the female Raevan that was smiling so brightly like an innocent fairy and waving so enthusiastically forced his tense lips to set loose. The initial nervousness was gone, all that was left was..desire. Desire to continue to look at her, desire to move closer to touch her. His eyes shifted from her teal hair to her blue eyes, then ran down to her delicate skin and the pair of pink wings on her back. She was a fairy.
He coughed, reviving his dead cells. Despite being so excited, mannerism would not allow him to stare at her all day long. He would have plenty of time to spend with her, Kenth thought. The thought made him breath deep. A long time, spent with this pretty thing. Would he be able to handle that without loosing himself? Unlike Alex the doctor took a step closer, holding out one of his hand out of habit and followed Zul's introduction. He was a bit surprised that the male Raevan remembered his name, but the surprise was not strong enough to surpass the wonders for his own newborn.
"Kenth." Kenth repeated his name a bit stiffly after Zul.
The new people who came into the room certainly brought a great deal of lively air and confusion into her little experience so far. The shorter and darker of the two strangers seemed to be pleased by her greetings. This made her happy. She didn't know what Alex was talking about, but her expression looked like Zul's, and since the male Raevan liked her (she assumed), this stranger must do too. The Raevan giggled at Alex's words, imagining what she might mean with the language that she was not familiar with. To the other stranger she was not sure. The man looked aloof, and showed almost no expression upon seeing her and her greeting. This made her wonder if she did something wrong. Perhaps the smiling stranger was only laughing at her mistakes?
It wasn't an unreasonable assumption, she figured. Her smile dimmed and returned into a softer one. Kenth's stiffness did not completely drain her happiness, or she had no time to guess what he was thinking before the male Raevan started introducing (again, an assumption) the strangers.
"Not...zoo?" She repeated, curiously following Zul's gestures. She looked at the man again, this time noticing his eyes. They were a shade of bright blue, a shade vaguely familiar to her. "Kens?" She tried to voice the man's name. It seemed to be an important word. Zul said it twice, and the man said it once himself.
The man nodded! That was a motion that meant approval wasn't it? For a moment her smile became wider, almost proud that she finally did something right. Unfortunately the excitement overcame her concentration, so disregarding what Zul said later on she turned to the shorter stranger and ---
"Zoo, Kens!" She announced, head raising a little and quite impressed with herself.

Alex crinkled her nose in distaste at the doctor's back, pursing her lips in a pout. That was it? He was just going to say his name? Ugh. "Typical," she muttered under her breath, though her sour disposition at the man's lack of enthusiasm was pushed aside in favor of fond curiosity at the newborn. When she smiled at Kenth's nod, the Italian was near beside herself with joy again, finding the expression to be infectious in an uplifting way. She chuckled and kept her distance for the time being, letting the three interact since she wasn't needed.
"Right, Kenth," the demon laughed, a sound of smoke and amusement. So she had some difficulty returning consonants, but she got vowels; it was cute, charming in its own right. His part, however, was done - the rest was up to Kenth, assuming the white-haired man remembered how to say anything beyond his own name. He would have been amused to know he shared the same thoughts as his Guardian, but for the time being, he could only act as a support should the newborn need him.
Zul floated back a little more, hoping the wider berth would encourage the new Guardian to close the distance and show something of interest in her. A smile, a hug, a shake of the hand - but then, perhaps his woman had spoiled him in how a show of interest should be. Crossing his arms over his half-formed chest, he turned his sky-blue eyes to the femme and gave her an encouraging smile. Maybe if the doctor was too stunned to do anything, she could take up the mantle and teach him.

Kenth was not uninterested in the Raevan. After all, this was to be his new project. Although, at the moment the doctor could do nothing but to stand and stare at the female with very little expression. There were too many expressions that he wanted to express, and he was having trouble picking out the one that he wanted to show the most. Seeing the dark skinned woman had retreated and left him alone, Kenth felt that he must do something, but what..?
The Raevan, on the other hand, was blissfully unaware of Kenth's dilemma and awkwardness. Her innocence only made the situation worth. The doctor was not adept at talking to others intimately. The Raevan's cheerfulness made him somewhat uncomfortable. In short, she could be compared to a bright ray of sunshine, too bright in Kenth's eyes. The doctor mechanically nodded at the Raevan's comment. A part of him had understood that she was trying to speak his name, but the pronunciation was off. Her little mistake at the moment made no difference in Kenth's mind, as the doctor was still debating on what he should do. Then, something occured to him.
"What's your name?" Kenth asked the Raevan. His voice was no doubt an interruption at her senseless words. She looked back at him, and tilted her head sideways. The expression on her face clearly read spelled confusion to the doctor. Kenth felt his eyebrows coming together into a knot. His attempt at conversation clearly failed.
"Kens?" Seeing the man frowning, the Raevan's smile dropped and was replaced by concern. She didn't understand what the man was saying, but her hesitance to answer seemed to have angered the doctor. She must have done something wrong, but where did the mistake come from? The Reavan repeated Kenth's name a few times, and, after seeing no improved reaction from the doctor, switched to another word she learned.
"...Zoo?" The Raevan asked, her voice trailing off a little. Kenth shook his head and signed heavily. He was the one at fault, she was a newborn, what did he expect? Even though Kenth reminded himself of this fact, he could not help but to feel a little disappointed. The Raevans he had met were fully capable of communicating, some even shared a level of intelligence matching that of human's. But this one...didn't seem so smart. She had much to learn, for now, even talking to her posed a problem. Kenth felt his enthusiasm chill, and rubbed his temples. He was not good at socializing with people, but he was even worse at taking care of infants!
Sulking, Kenth eventually turned to Alex for help.
"What's her name?"

The demon pressed his lips together, unimpressed. Where had the seemingly intelligent man that had made his woman act so oddly go? Zul glanced to the newborn, and sensing she might have been upset at the doctor's seeming disappointment, he floated to her side again and extended a warm hand, taking her own delicate one against his palm. "It's okay," he tried to assure her, "it's up to him to name you." The gloved hand lightly pat against her pale skin. "You've done nothing wrong."
"You are not serious." Alex stared at Kenth with mingled horror, amusement and something that may have been lingering disappointment herself. Realizing that he was, in fact, serious, the Italian groaned quietly and idly rubbed the bridge of her nose. For being so brilliant, he was a bit thick in the head. "Like Zul said, you name her. She isn't born with a name - no living creature on the planet is." The look she gave the white-haired man plainly said that he of all people should have known how these things worked. Human babies weren't born with name tags affixed to them, so why would he think a Raevan to be any different?
Her arms crossed for a moment, but not wanting to come off as defensive or angry at the newborn, she stuck her hands into her pockets, continuing to give Kenth a most perplexed look. "You don't have to give her a name now if you're not ready," she offered, though the tightness in her brow and the line of her mouth suggested that she knew damn well he wasn't ready in the least. "Just call within a week and leave a message. I'll handle it from there." She wavered for a moment before stepping next to Kenth, close enough that their arms brushed. Her voice lowered, danger dripping from her words, "For once, show a little compassion. She wants to impress you." I know first hand how impossible that is, her eyes said accusingly, though the words never left her lips. This was not about them.
The tension in the air was thick enough that the demon could taste it; it was like butter on his tongue, awkward and somewhat unpleasant. Keeping his blue eyes on the pastel Frei, he said nothing further, awaiting her response - or at least a name from Kenth. It was amazing how his enthusiasm had been dampened by the strange turn of events. Was this why his woman and the doctor didn't get along? Zul remembered the story she shared with him, but this seemed to be residual of a time past.

Oh.
Kenth's mouth voiced the word, but no sound came out. The doctor remained silent for a long time, eyes fixed on Alex. His face was still stone solid, showing no sign of embarrassment or surprise. But deep down, Kenth wished he could just disappear into another dimension at the moment. He thought he was prepared for the Raevan, and he thought he was quite calm about seeing his new subject, but he was deadly wrong. While his body did not react to the newborn, his brain most certainly stopped functioning, allowing him to make such a STUPID mistake.
How foolish. While staring at the dark skinned woman he could almost taste the bitter disappointment that radiated from her, even if it might only be his imagination. Prior to his he wasn't paying the least attention to Alex's Raevan, though now he wish he had, Zul seemed to have given him hint that his subject needed to be named.
But he was not to be defeated easily. Kenth snapped his head away from Alex when she commented that he was not ready. He shifted his attention to his subject. He had to act fast, and come up with a fitting name. The newborn looked back at him with a degree of unease and wonder, though part of her attention on him was lost when Alex came closer to the doctor. She blinked, oblivious to the tension hanging in the air. They were saying something, something beyond her comprehension. Their action was something new to her, was she supposed to follow?
It somehow made sense in her little brain that the best thing to do was to simply follow everything the experienced people do. Slowly she moved closer to Zul, her arm brushing slightly against his like the way the dark skinned woman was doing beside her "man". She raised her eyes to look up at the demon, smiling a little and questioning silently if she did the right thing.
Kenth, on the other hand, was still struggling at the name. He never had a family, and his name was given before he could comprehend their meaning---not to mention he never cared about the meaning behind his name. How was he supposed to know how to name a newborn, and a female in that regard? Sure, he could just name her "Jane" or "Mary" or something common, but the doctor felt those names were an insult to his intelligence. At the very least, he should give her a name that showed his consideration.

The blank look he gave her was not in the least bit comforting. Alex sighed quietly through her nose, shaking her head to herself and stepping away from the doctor, looking towards the newborn instead. For as little as they knew about the Raevans, she felt she could better empathize and understand them as enigmas than she could ever understand the white-haired human male in the room with her. Hell, she felt like she had a deeper connection with her own ward - a demon! - though she wasn't sure what that said about the doctor. She couldn't repress a small smile that formed as the femme imitated her previous motion with Kenth, though she felt a faint blush creep in her cheeks to see it herself. Was she...did she really get that close? Heh. Stupid.
Looking back to Kenth, she watched him struggle for a moment before trying to be helpful in a sense of doing her job more than anything personal. "What about where you found the lotus?" she asked, trying to be casual about it. "Any names that are ethnic or might mean something there?" Alex truly had little concept or idea of what Kenth had gone through or what that place was like, but it seemed like a good start to her. She liked to give her own twist on names which generally lead to something quirky in Italian. In hindsight, it was probably a good thing that Jeremy had named Zul. Smiling a little more warmly to herself in memory of the elderly gent, she continued to wait on Kenth for any sign of life behind his eyes, either by answer or a name.
The demon watched the newborn, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips as she floated closer. Unlike Kenth, however, he liked the closer proximity, idly resting a hand behind her and gently touching her back in a manner that conveyed in his own way that she was doing just fine. If her man wouldn't teach her, he had no qualms with playing that role. "Are you happy?" he asked her quietly, their closeness allowing him to keep his smoke-filled voice low and for her ears only. Sky-cut eyes watched her with a quiet type of interest, his attention for her rather than the two awkward humans in the room. If anyone could teach her anything, really, he was better suited for it anyway!

Kenth nuzzled against his chin, the blank look remained on his face. Even when the dark skinned woman gave him a hint the doctor was quite unwilling to accept it. She was displeased with him, and the more time he spent thinking of a name the less pleasant the mood would become. Although Alex's words did help spark a stream of thought inside of Kenth's mind despite his own will. The snow lotus was from China, why not...just give her a Chinese name? Kenth recalled in the E-mail received from his college in China the word for the sacred flower, what was it...
"Xuelian."
The sound emerged from his mouth quite smoothly as his mind grabbed onto the word. Kenth tilted his head upward, as if he was making a declaration.
"In that case, I shall name her Xuelian." He geared his comment toward Alex as if seeking approval. "...It meant something sacred in Chinese, I believe it would be a fitting name for her." Kenth was not keen to telling the woman that Xuelian merely meant "snow lotus", which was the basis of his subject in the first place.
Blue eyes started shining in sparkles when they have received a smile back from Zul. In just a short time the Raevan was quick to learn that smile meant approval, which must mean she did something right. She grinned, delighted by the older Raevan's expression. It was a nice expression, it made the demon look even more pleasant than from her initial impression. "Happy?" She asked, feeling the warmth radiating from the other's presence. The Raevan did not know what the new word meant, but that did not curb her enthusiasm for learning. "Happy, happy." She repeated to him, then turned to the other two humans, eager to show off her new knowledge.
"Kens, Zoo, happy." She called out, not minding the meaning of the phrases. Her own voice, the way she could control her tongue and manipulate air into different sound and tunes peeked her interest. Words were fun to say, she wished she knew more of them!

The woman cast the white-haired man a side-long glance, but said nothing. Xuelian. Her green eyes returned to the newborn, and somehow, the name just fit. Alex found her smile again, gentle and considerate, murmuring, "Xuelian." It sounded good off her tongue, and something about the name in her ears paired with looking at the candy-sweet looking Frei clicked. "It's a good name," she finally said, a bit of her smile touching her eyes as she again looked to Kenth. It wasn't the first time she'd wondered if she'd been wrong about him and his growth.
Smoky laughter returned the happy girl's repeated words, amusement lighting his own blue eyes. He started to float after the newborn when he heard the doctor's voice speak a name. Zul had never heard such a name, though it struck him as an exotic form of something. Looking at Xuelian's excited form as she gave the names and her new word happily to the two humans, he felt his smile soften. It was charming, her exuberance, and now she had a name. Now, she was claimed.
Floating to her side again, the demon lightly took her hands, though he didn't quite make her face him. "Happy," he agreed, smile intact, "to meet you." He moved her hand so that her pale knuckles brushed his chest. "Zul," he repeated his name, moving the hand towards the white-haired doctor then. "Kenth." Zul then lifted the hands he held, putting them on her cheeks with his own cupping them, looking at her pointedly. "Xuelian. Your name is Xuelian."
Alex pressed her fingertips to her lips, feeling a swell of pride in her chest at Zul's gentle gesture towards the newborn. She felt that it should have been Kenth to do so in the beginning, but now, she realized that Xuelian may better learn from her peers than the brilliant man that was her Guardian. Smiling fondly to herself, she moved a bit closer to Kenth and put her arm on his shoulder, leaning a bit on him. With a playful smirk, feeling for a moment as if the years that had passed since college were suddenly no more, she teased, "You may want to stop him. If this is how she learns, well...you up for the task?"
The Italian grinned lop-sidedly, mostly certain Kenth could not, in fact, teach by touch and gentleness. The notion was both amusing and a bit frightening.
