Well? Tell us your story.
I first came about it when I was flipping through one of my Newtype magazines. I saw an add for it on the inside cover. I noticed it because I saw that it was by Ken Akamatsu and Love Hina was my favorite manga at the time. I kept looking through the magazine and I found an article on Negima. It sounded very interesting when I read the article. Then about 20 minutes later I found myself on the bus and going to Waldens to buy the first volume. I loved it and have read and own every american released volume up to date and I will eventually own every american released volume once they come out. Well thats my story about coming into the magical world of Negima. Whats yours?

Technically i neglected Negima for months because i thought Ken Akamatsu would never do another master piece such as Love Hina. Then i asked one person on an old IRC chat if it was any good. They said yes. So i checked out Volume 1 of Negima at a retailer and saw that it was interesting. So, i bought volume 1 and fell in love with it. At the time volume 4 was already out so you can say i was a late comer for Negima.

I found Negima around the time book 2 came out. I had already read all of Love Hina and loved it, so one day I was at Waldenbooks looking through all the mangas, and I picked up Negima to see what it was. I saw that it was by Ken Akamatsu and bought both volumes 1 and 2 that day. ^_^

When I look for a manga to read, I look for the ones that have nice art, because I can't read anything where I don't admire the artist's work. So...no Fruits Baskets or Love Roma for me. xD;;
Anyways, I first picked up Love Hina a while ago because I loved the artwork. This was the same case with Negima, and knowing it was by Ken A. made me want it even more. x3

At the beginning of sophmore year of college, a buddy from the anime club (who filled a 100 gig harddrive with fansubs, AMVs, and such, AND has a substantial library) showed us the previews for the anime. I found the concept hilarious, and he got a couple scanlated manga chapters shortly after. I was hooked.

To much of your dismay, I started really late. Probably when the 3rd book came out. I think I was still reading Love Hina back then, as well. Yeah, maybe I seemed like a newb, but I pick up things quick. I just got my love for anime back, which lessened around 4th grade or so.
Because it was written by the insanely brilliant Akamatsu Ken, I bought it and have followed the series ever since - but only because of it's amazingly clean drawing [not so much content ^^;] and the spellbinding story. I've also joined and mod at the Negima forum I'm always telling you folks about, which I've met probably my best friends ever. Okay yeah, a little creepy maybe, but you couldn't question it if you ever saw all of us. Also because of the forum, I've kept up with the latest Shounen Weekly chapters, which is nice. ^^

I first found out 'bout Negima when I was checkin' ANN. I did a search on Akumatsu, found out he was doin' another manga then I tried to find any site who does fanscans. I discovered AQS way before they did fanscans and I've been updated every week 'cause of their good work.

A friend of mine had the first book right after it came out. Up to that point I had only read Inuyasha (have moved on to bigger and better things, i assure you -.-; wink and Love Hina (had just recently gotten into the manga craze). I read it, fell in love with it, and now me, that friend, and another eagerly await each American released manga. I figured out it was the same author of Love Hina after like the 4th book. XD I recognised it was the same method of drawing, but really didn't make the connection. sweatdrop I am resisting the urge to read Scanalations. I'm trying to just read them as they come out (legally).

Hmm....It seems that most fans of Negima once loved Love Hina, and were attracted by the name of the artist on another new series. Same for me here. My brother bought the first couple of books of Negima that came back and I absolutely loved them. 3nodding

I got into Negima really late. Like...volume 6 late. xd
I had just started working at the local comic/collectables store, and my co-worker did her damndest to get me hooked on a bunch of different mangas. After I finished collecting Love Hina, she told me that Negima was "wicked awesome" and I had to check it out.
I'm pretty sure the entirety of my first two paychecks was spent in the store I work at. sweatdrop

I read Love Hina, and when I was done with it I was looking for another manga with art I liked. Negima was the only manga that really interested me, so I bought it. :3 I just finished book 4. x.x;

I'd been finished with Love Hina for a while, and I was really bored one day, so I went to Suncoast, and saw soemthing that looked unmistakeably like Akamatsu-san's work. It was A.I. Love You, which I didn't really care for as much as Love Hina, but it made me wonder if he'd done anything else or was working on something, so I did some net searching and found out about Negima. I've got 1-8 of the manga, since the screenshots I've seen of the anime make it look like the quality seems kind of poor, which I hope isn't the case.
