I feel this band gets clumped in with the whole 'nu-metal' thing due to there aggressive nature and time period in which they broke out. There nothing like any of those bands. There super jammy and experimental and I think there one of the best bands to come out of the 90's.

Thoughts?

There's are seriously people who lump them into that genre? First I've heard about it. They is cool beans.

Uhm they're pretty much nu-metal because of their groovy aggressive sound that has an almost hip-hop like atmosphere.

Bands don't have to be exact carbon-copies to belong to a genre.

I would disagree. Pretty much all of the nu metal bands at least make an attempt to be seen as metal or at least metalish. Rage doesn't even sound remotely close. The only thing they have in common is the hip hop influence which is not seen in all nu metal acts. I would say they sound closer to THIS then say... Korn or Disturbed.

No dude, Rage is totally metal. Lots of people seem to have the notion that metal has to sound a certain way, but I've found that genres are a better description as to how a certain group of bands feels. The defining thing of metal is of the music having a "******** you." attitude, and Rage totally fits that.

WAT

Music is divided into genres by the way it sounds, not the attitude behind it. If what you're saying were true, then Punk would be more metal than metal. Nothing gets more "******** you" than punk. There are musical characteristics that define metal; including (but not limited to) the gruff vocal delivery, heavily distorted guitars, fast guitar solos, heavy riffage, prominent drums, and VOLUME!

As far as Rage goes, if you put them up against other typical nu-metal bands (such as Limp Bizket or Korn), they don't really sound a lot like them. They share many of the musical elements prominent in nu-metal, sure, but the end result is somewhat different. If anything, I'd define them as Funk Metal. But more often than not, I'll just say that they SOUND LIKE ********' RAGE! dramallama

Bolded is how I know you're stupid.

Italicized is where you made my point for me, bands don't have to be ******** textbook definitions to belong to a genre.

Punk is less ******** you than metal, metal is more in the manner of a pretentious ******** you. And fast guitar solos? You must listen to really shitty metal.

Oh ******** be trollin'.

***** look - you wrong, dawg.
Just let that s**t go.
It's obvious our superior taste in metal, funk metal, Stoner metal/stoner doom, and e v e r y t h i n g else has hurt your feelings.
It's okay.
But you must understand that even though your a** is in pain right now it'll help later.
You'll be more intelligent afterward.
I promise.

Hahahahaha I laughed so bloody hard at your links. Go read pitchfork, or spin, or whatever rubbish you must've read to call that good.

Though Sleep and Chet Atkins are rad.

Aha. did you just call AnCo, Sigur Ros, The Killers, The Strokes, and Radiohead rubbish?
Are you ******** high?
If nothing else, you're completely dead to me
Aha it's okay if you're pretentious though.
Having dealt with the definitive pretentiousness of London Eyes I'm used to people prancing around the MF and ML pseudo- and quazi-intellectually.
We just won't get along.

Also;
What's those bolded things up there?

They're hipster magazines/websites that suck the dicks of all the bands (except The Killers) that you listed!

Now excuse me as I go listen to Free Jazz and Power Electronics, as they're the only real genres anymore.
