Ok, I found out that the for sure release date of HeartGold and SoulSilver is March 14. On January 31 to Febuary 14 GameStop is having a pokemon event. If you take your DS and Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum to GameStop in that time frame you can get a Pikachu colored Pichu, and when traded over to HeartGold or SoulSilver you can unlock a special event. Thanks for the info and i double checked:
It's not the spikey eared pichu yo uget i nD/P/Pl but isntead is ashiny ne, who later in HG//SS grants you the spikey eared on in ilex forest
also this was that oneconfirm i had been seeking, on my way to post site-wide now

yeah, this shiny pichu is overall, just a shiny pichu, nothing specail except it's ID number ad OT name, it can also volve, which is not good if you want the spikey eared pichu
the psikey eared pichu however, is very special:
First you must trade your GMSTP Shiny pichu over then put it in top of your party
(i recomend doing this trade in azelea town)
then enter the ilex forest, it's a safe no wild walk to the cutting tree, of which you'll need to have beaten bugsy to get past,
now wlak up to celebi's shrine, tlak to itwith that pichu leading your team and an open slot:
Bada bing bada boom: spikey eared Acreus-movie pichu
this spikey eared pichu has it's own battle entry animation and cannot evolve but otherwise is just a normal pichu
sounds worth doing

Wait do we have to reserve a copy of HG/SS before we get Pichu or we just get it if we have D/P/Pl? sweatdrop *is confused a bit*

I went yesterday and its for real
I got the pikachu colored pichu
it is level 30
and carrying an everstone
you do not need to reserve hg or ss to get this pichu , just bring Pl, Pe, or Di into gamestop to get it. Also to get the spiky ear pichu you dont need to reserve hg or ss either, you just need to get it eventually.
mind you the event goes until febuary 14th.
if you have a japanese version of HG or SS I dont think it works with that. Only the US version on March 14th. Japanese versions may have a similar event but I am not sure.

Oh also
if you have reserved a copy of HG or SS
while supplies last
you get a figurine of Ho-oh with HG or Lugia with SS
this was in the Guild announcement as well but for those of you who forgot.
I cant wait to get my Ho-oh figure.
For future events, i suggest you all subscribe to Gamestops newsletter or other bigger game stores near you. That is how i found out about this event and the figure with preorder.
I love it.
It is a good way to find out about events...

mine is jolly too
the sad thing is, it's defense is poor, and it's caps are low as it is a baby pokemon
However, if you used it as a Baby-pokemon-tier suicide lead, then well, it's a godsend
i personally erased Endeavor, giving it Iron tail instead(just in case i ever fight any wild geodudes)
also i'm not bothering with EVing this guy, the spikey eared one, maybe, but not this one

Mine pretty much is poor and it has a jolly nature as well
i put him in a pc box and let him collect dust
i hate doing that though, it was hard >.<
But i did here some interesting news, the spikey eared pichu does not evolve

Yes, something about the story of the two Pichu's.
The notched eared Pichu can't evolve because of some reason or another.
I would think that it'd be because of the relationship between it and our Event Pichu here. I guess he just doesn't have the willpower to evolve, much like Ash's/Red's Pikachu in the anime/game.

the spikey eared pichu wont evolve and is female, even in the movie it's a girl
As for why: it is technically Rarer than a shiny, as a event pokemon must be obtained to obtain it, thus it would be sensless to evolve this promotional baby pikachu
my personal upset though is it looks like you need an empty slot to obtain her, which is bad because and only because i like filling out my team asap
it doesnt matter too much i suppose as in G/S i never had more then 3 pokemon at that particular time (no pokeballs and was saving money for great balls, sold in goldenrod which i was verging upon)
my personal want though: is to see Scizor following me, then to see Jirachi
after i get the final badge, i'll import my Giratina, give him the griseous orb and have him follow me, maybe even the same for my toaster rotom
fun fact: HG/SS have no trade limits from the start, so you can begin trading your team in asap, butbe careful they wont listen to you if they are to high level

I did it! And I have two legit ones. HEE HEE. One from my local Gamestop and another via trade from GTS. They really wanted a feebas.
I can't wait for HG/SS. Though it will probably sell out for a while and I am not able to pre-order it anytime soon. crying
