Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 155lbs
Hair: Light brown hair atop his head, generally kept very short- just shy of shaving it off. Wears a stylized mustache/goatee in the form of a Fu Man Chu mustache (covering the upper lip and stretches down to the chin in straight lines), then moves up his jawline as a carefully trimmed beard- all of it red in color.
Eyes: Dull gray in color to match his blade.
A very non-descript man in build and posture, Charles stands at both medium build and height. 32 years of age, his body has reached its peak, though with a bit of a belly on him to hide his musculature. The laid back attitude hides a rather agile body. Only slightly hampered by his softness, Charles is apt to take advantage of both his moderate frame, and hidden agility.

Which I believe translates into either commanding it to "Display" or "Fly"

Appearance:A Ksurigama with a scythelike blade approximately a foot in length from handle to point. On each side of the blade either the etching of a Yin, or a Yang can be seen- but not both. A ten foot chain attaches to the base of the elongated handle, and ends in a bladed weight- an octagonal piece with a small blade on each of the eight sides pointing downward like legs. Both the chain and weight are a dull grey in color, the blades both on handle and weight are typically shiny, and the etchings on either side of the blade are dull, but not colored.

Abilities: Capable of releasing silvery strands of reiatsu that have the ability to bind. Individually they are relatively weak, but with repeated swipes can create an ever increasing wrap that will not only bind what it lands on, but anchor to other surfaces- tethering it down (or up as the case may be). These threads can also be manipulated into various techniques all based on a spider's webbing.

Primary ability of Aitourensa: Gattai kyuuten / Unite the Heavens: It is usable at all levels of release, but with dramatically different effects. At rest, it sends out bands of Reiatsu that move in a straight line- no homing ability. When this band hits a target, it wraps around said object up to something the size of a large gorilla and binds it tight. In Shikai level, as long as Charles holds on to the weapon, he can use this power in a prehensile manner, but the moment he lets go, the power is merely an advanced version of the gattai kyuuten, strengthened by his ksurigama.

Optimally, it can be used to pin an arm, or both arms, to an opponent's body to severely limit the combat ability of the target. It can also be used to bind legs, obviously, limiting movement. The effect of the sealed level is only a few minutes, and does not cause any real damage other than some light brusing. At Shikai level, the power is increased, due to being based on Reiatsu.

Zanpaktou techniques
Youkai mou / Phantom Snare: With a moment of concentration, Charles can send a burst of Reiatsu through his Zanpaktou's blade. Upon impact, the blade will release this energy in the form of a web that stretches out similar to a net. Like gattai kyuuten, it is a set of binding strands. The major difference is this will cover a larger area in a single burst- but not encircle the opponent. The strands will hold fast to what they come in contact with. Since it is not a constricting force, stronger opponents would be able to break free.

The range of the Youkai mou is limited by two factors- reiatsu and time. For each moment (say around fifteen seconds) spent concentrating his energy, the web's diameter will extend another nine feet. For anything truly large, it will take a massive amount of energy and a long time to prepare. Not designed to be a mid-combat manouver, this is more along the lines of an ambush scenario.

Ryoushi yotogi / Hunter's Watch: A secondary ability that works primarily with the Youkai mou, but can be applied to Gattai kyuuten. By keeping Aitourensa's blade in contact with the reiatsu strands, he can feel the slightest vibration through them. The struggles of a caught opponent are very clear and easy for him to discern. This requires Charles to remain static or his 'vision' through the web is much less detailed. Should his Zanpaktou lose contact, the effect is gone.

Kaze hochou / Wind Cadence: Sending out a thicker, more dense line of reiatsu thread, Charles can use it to climb, rappel, or swing from. This thread my be able to hold a lot more in tension, but is much weaker to cuts. Very easy to slice with a blade edge, it is designed to be that way for easy release. Unfortunately, any blade edge should cleave it with little effort, including thrown kunai or other sharp objects.

Special Accessories: Wears a bandoleer from left shoudler to right midriff, lined with many pockets, all carrying small items. Typical gear includes pencils, a sharpener, small tools and trinkets of little to no intrinsic value. Uses the bandoleer as a mount for his blade, typically worn with the handle facing downward, held in place by a custom clamp/ejection system for iaijutsu boost. Always carries a charcoal gray drawing book with him, used for taking notes and sketches of items of interest.

Skills: High levels of agility, very high endurance for reiatsu used for his bakudo, agile mind for analysis and developed a complex code for note-taking, decent artist at making quick drawings and diagrams.

Abilities: Moderately skilled at deception due to hiding his own feelings and emotions. Adept at kido, trained heavily in bakudo, making him a master beyond most in that field- but his hado is not as strong as his peers. Constructing a stronger bond with Aitourensa to develop zan techniques through communion with his blade and experiments.

Personality:

Charles is an unobtrusive sort, preferring to stay behind the scenes and do what needs done before others notice him. Intensely curious, he prefers to let logic and power speak rather than emotional outbursts. His loyalty is a reflection of what he feels others give. Those that show him deference will gain his loyalty until such is betrayed. Thus far, only his captain in squad 12, Maxi, has earned his complete trust. Those that ignore logic earn disdain. In any conflict, Charles tries to out-think his opponent, and is quick to take advantage . . . especially unfair ones.

Biography/History: Charles led the stereotypical 'quiet life'. No catastrophes, no monumental trauma. The worst he has suffered was the separation of his parents, followed by the estrangement from his father. Growing up in a lower-middle income household, he did not want for anything necessary, and got a few embellishments through his life. As he aged, he even took a bride, and had two little girls. Life was just as it always had been for him- neither difficult, nor easy. If anything, that made the most sense to him. 'All things in balance' is the core of his beliefs. Such balance carried him through his days until one day he was winded from physical labor and suffered a heart attack. Hardly the quiet death some would hope for, but it was not as violent as it could have been.

Upon arrival in the Soul Society, his life was less than ideal. Without any influence or real exemplary skills, his time was spent scrounging for a life. the only solace he found was in either researching his world to better understand it, or finding meditation. Falling into himself, a peace would engulf him and there was always a nagging feeling that he was not alone. Never a menacing presence, but always there . . . sometimes it even whispered to him. Hearing voices was never a good sign in the world of the living, so here it is something he hid. Still, the presence always seems calming and helpful.

Upon application to the Seireitei, he was shocked to find he was accepted. Time in the academy was mediocre at best. Still, while he did not excel at anything, his knowledge did. Understanding of theory and memorization of kido chants came naturally to him, as did the desire to know more. Above all else, Charles wanted more power to find his zan, and to always learn more. When he discovered the spirit, and his powers, is likely the greatest moment of his life. Guarded and secretive however, he does not talk about that moment to many.

Over time, his skills in bakudo gained some measure of fame, and for a time he had seriously joining a kido-intensive squad. Still, his curiosity gained the better of him and squad twelve called to him. In a relatively short time his high endurance in reiatsu combined with his agile mind allowed him to climb the ranks of the squad. Through the aid of concentration and some encouragement from his captain in squad 12, he finally contacted his Zanpaktou's spirit and is apt to develop that relationship.

His pet projects are always present in his mind. Most prevalent is his 'alpha state' theory in which he could find a way to strip any soul- shimigami or arrancar, back to a state before development into anything other than a positive soul. What he doesn't tell others is that he hopes to find a way to create the alpha state in order to reverse the process and radically increase his power. To that end he has studied his cohorts, met with arrancar, and is not above human experimentation. His attempts have already created a soul-diffusion matrix, able to see a soul in various forms: Arrancar, Hollow, Shimigami, Captain, and the spirit of one's zanpaktou- in a series of images. He has yet to share this bit of information with many and longs to explore more of this discovery with his own varied forms.

Powers: Above average agility, high endurance for kido, extensive and advanced powers in bakudo, shikai obtained, agile mind, weak morality.
