Sure, Alessa’s apartment was rather small, a sentiment only exacerbated by the presence of half-opened cardboard boxes in every room. It still lacked that personal touch that indicated the personality of the owners; no real decoration beyond the basic potted plant in the living room, walls painted an ancient and dull shade of beige. For this special occasion, the conventions on the matter didn’t go ignored. A few brightly-coloured balloons attached to a door handle, a few kitschy paper decorations that only a mother could choose lovingly with the best intentions in the world. As always, her daughter did not dare ask to leave the decoration to her, and pretended she loved it.
Her birthday was an event welcomed with mixed feelings; it was amusing to pretend to be the centre of attention for one day for something she had no control over whatsoever. She never knew how to justify the very rare attempt to steal the spotlight. After all, if someone happened to be more fun than she was, she had no right to shove them aside under the pretence she was born that day (that also happened to be a very boring day).
But today was different. She was turning 17. For the first time in her life, she was new. She wouldn’t share her cake with old friends, but with brand new classmates and acquaintances. She didn’t know much about them for starters, though she gladly called them “friends” already.
So there was Alessa in her flat, waiting for a reasonable proportion of people she invited to come. Her parents’ absence was very welcomed today; neither of them would come back from work until dinner. Admiring her apple cake’s chocolate decoration distractedly, she waited for her first guests to come.

-Aurora had been making her way towards the grocery store that morning, intent on restocking her small collection of fruit and nonperishable food for her dorm, when she'd seen it. A small but colorful sign sticking up from the grass, a few brightly colored balloons attempting to tug themselves free and into the sky.
How long had it been since she'd been to a birthday party? Her last school definately... Eyes glancing at the cheerful little sign longingly, she paused as the name touched her eyes. She knew that name... but how? Glancing at the apartment for a long moment it finally hit her. Alessa... that girl that had helped her at the movie theatre!
After the whole fiasco she'd went through the channels of finding out the girl's name, it was amazing what you could do with a little money. She'd meant to send something.. a thank you note. Or... something. What really did you send to someone who saved you from serious injury? But somewhere between slipping her mind and feeling like a dofus it'd gone undone. But today was her birthday?
Glancing at the watch dangling from her wrist, she picked up the pace towards the grocery store.

Making her way through the halls of the apartment building Aurora paused when she finally met a door wrapped in balloons. Nibbling the bottom of her lip softly, she once again debated simply transforming so she could run out of there before the other girl openned the door.
A timid knock rapped at the door, and as soon as it was openned, the wrapped box was dumped uncerimoniously in the arms of the girl that looked oh so famliar, words spouting out as quickly as they'd been rehearsed.- "Hello! This strange girl outside asked me to bring this in for you. Happy Birthday."
-And just as quickly she pivoted like the dancer she was, lifting her hand in a simple goodbye as she bolted down the hallway before the other girl could question her more. Atleast she'd gotten the right place. Even if she'd.. probably weirded the poor girl out.
She couldn't help but laugh a little as she pushed through the doors into the freedom of the world once more. That was kind of fun.. exciting even. Hopefully Alessa would like her gift.
Tarantino.. that was the name she'd been chanting that faithful day right?
She'd been surprised to find both the CD "The Tarantino Experience: The Ultimate Tribute to Quentin Tarantino" AND the book Tarantino and Philosophy in the same small movie and collectable shop. Hopefully she'd like it.. and not be too put off by the birthday card that was signed only with a cryptic "Sorry your movie got ruined!"

It'd been since the hospital that he'd seen her. However as he walked past a colorful sign, shortly after he was on his way back from another store trip for his grams.
"Huh... that wasn't there before." He paused before realizing he knew the name. He grinned, it'd take a few but he'd be back shortly.

When he got home, he was just in luck, "Ahh grams, baking again..." He said before pausing, "Don't happen to have enough I can take to a friend do you?"
He'd stopped along at a small hobby store and picked up a few things, mini-travel games for the most part. He wasn't sure if she had any of them but hopefully she'd appreciate them either way. He also had found an interesting looking game, one that had a wooden board and half pieces of marbles.
Grams of course always made too many sweets, this time it happened to be brownies. Two whole batches of them, he shook his head as he snagged a plate and put some on it. "Really grams.... I don't know why you always make that many sweets. We can't eat them all before they go to the bad." He grabbed one to nibble on as he covered the plate.

It took him a little bit to get back to the party and find the actual apartment. However, when he found the door, he shuffled the plate covered with tin foil and the birthday themed bag with the presents in it. And knocked.
Unlike her last visitor this one wouldn't dump things in her arms and run. He grinned when she opened the door, "I think, we keep missing each other at school." He grinned.

Alessa jumped out of her chair when she heard the knocking. However, she opened the door to a completely unknown girl. Nobody she knew had similar white braided hair (very pretty, too). It is always an embarrassing matter to be faced by someone you should know, but couldn’t advance a guess on their identity if your life depended on it. Was she a classmate? No way, she knew their name…
Thankfully, her expression didn’t have to change from a happy surprise to embarrassment. She caught the box only thanks to a reflex, and just stood there, dumbfounded, seeing the girl run away. The brunette raised a hand tentatively. “W-wait! What strange girl? Who are you… why did you… thank you?” she asked, first shouting, then finishing in a whisper.
Strangest. Birthday. Ever.
Aurora was right: Alessa was completely weirded out. She took the card before looking at the gift. No name was expected by this point anymore. Actually, the message was cryptic. Movie… got ruined… what? Does it have anything to do with that incident back then? Holy s**t, it must be a stalker. But she couldn’t have a secret admirer… it was impossible. And it couldn’t be that Sailor Polaris either – why would she even remember her existence?
After closing the door, though, the gift completely changed her opinion on her “secret admirer”. Oh gosh, Tarantino goodies. Was it for real? Best. Gift. Ever. She took a look at a random page of the book (going softly “ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh”) but had to leave that gift near the television, as not to be completely sucked in for the rest of the day.
A few minutes after the curious encounter, in an excellent mood, another guest arrived.
“Azzo! I’m glad you came! Please come in… and don’t mind the boxes.” She closed the door behind him, cheerful as ever, and walked towards the kitchen. “Nobody else has arrived yet” she said, pointing the obvious, “in the meantime, do you want water? Lemonade? Orange juice?” Even during her day, Alessa was used to serve her guests with a smile.

Azzo paused and looked at her, "Heh isn't it your birthday?" He asked, curiously, "And what I mean by that shouldn't someone be serving the birthday girl."
He grinned and looked at the two things in arms. "Where would you like these anyways?" Nodding down to the gifts. "And hum. I'm good for right now. I would've been by sooner but I had to shop around." He chuckled rubbing the back of his head.
He looked around the apartment. "Hum... so how's your day been so far?"

“It is, but my parents won’t come back before a few hours” she replied, already busy pouring soda in her glass. “and I don’t mind getting the drinks. They’re just drinks!”
The conversation continued while she was in the kitchen. “Oh, thank you! Let them here on the table, I’m gonna open them as soon as I’m done!”
Alessa’s head peeked out of the room to look at Azzo. “Like a normal day, but with more sweets and kitschy decoration. A good day, actually. And how have you been so far?” She was still a bit worried for him, both for his health and his adaptation to his “new” life.

Azzo headed over to the table and set it down, "Wasn't sure what to get you. So I hope you like what I did get you." He paused thinking, "However it's better than a gift card."
He chuckled, "That sounds fun." As he looked around, "It's alright." He paused thinking, "It's been alright so far..." He wavered however and pushed off the run in with Ladon. That was a misunderstanding, the kid wasn't really a wanna be bully was he?
No need to really ruin someone else's birthday with it though.

It didn’t take long for Alessa to come back with two glasses full of soda. “I’m curious to see what it is! Do you have any objection to my opening the wrapping now?” she asked mischievously, giving one drink to Azzo and sitting in front of him.
She took a sip. “I’m glad everything’s working out for you. Don’t be afraid to call me if there is a problem…”
She had a sudden realization.
“Actually, did I give you my phone number or email?” she asked sheepishly, doubting she did so.

Azzo took the glass and smiled, "If you want to open it now feel free to." He gave a soft nod and looked towards the bag. They weren't completely fancy in wrappings, just enough tissues paper to keep them all safe and hard to tell what's what.
He paused hiding a oh damnit look. "Heh... yeah about that...." He paused, "You didn't give them to me, but er... well I don't have a cell phone. So you'd kind of actually have to write it down."
His phone phone was likely an old time phone that only had the circle, not even the buttons. His grandmother insisted if something still worked why get something new?
(Feel free to pick the other games btw. XD I could only think of really old ones.)
