I know a lot of people like to play certain specs because they're effective or the most raid-viable, but do you like to play specs because they are fun?
Tell me what specs you like to play on your toons and why you like it so much, it can be any reason. I'll start.
I love being a Holy Priest because I find it to be something that you pay more attention to rather than Discipline. I don't like spamming two or three buttons over and over again, which is what Disc feels like to me. When you're Holy you actually seem to save mana using all of your spells (even the expensive ones) and if you gear right, you will never go oom! Except maybe on boss fights where your DPS is really terrible D:
Tell me! I am curious to know why you guys play what you play! heart

My main is an Affliction warlock.
I leveled as Affliction, so I began to feel comfortable with it.
I raided as Affliction back in BC when it was pretty much all utility and no DPS and no guild ever took more than one Affliction warlock.
And I still raid as Affliction now. They've made it a more viable personal DPS spec, I cream people in PvP, I like the somewhat complicated rotation, I'm never below 50% mana, I like dots because they mean I'm still doing damage even when I am running out of fires and whatnot, and I feel "at home" with Affliction. 3nodding

My main was an Affliction warlock but my old douche-bag guild made me go Destruction.
I loved affliction because it was a challenge, you had to time your spells and curses just right to do awesome damage.
Plus you have spells that make people explode. heart

Main is a Prot Pally. Leveled Ret, still have it as an off-spec, never get to raid as it 'cause I'm my guild's best tank x)
It's nice being needed, LFG is amazing (ten seconds wait is longer than average), and I derive perverse satisfaction from being mobbed by 3-4 entire groups of mobs, but I do miss seeing the giant yellow crits floating up the screen :]

And he said it was ridiculously fun, but that most guilds now seem to want Destro locks because of their burst so he doesn't get to play it very often.

My main used to be my pally all through TBC, and I never ever leveled as Ret. I leveled 10-80 as protection D: But it is very nice being needed and it was quick gearing her up for heroics and the such in Wrath! The dungeon queues are retarded fast, but I can't say I miss yellow crits when I've never seen them to start with D:

Blood Death Knight. Reason? No downtime at all. I do stupid stuff that usually ends up with me standing there with next to no health and, being specced Blood, I don't have that issue. Then I realised.. Hey, I have a single talent point. Where do I put it?
Corpse Explosion, when you have extra runic power and the fight is over. BOOM! Ony turns into a small pile of bones. As an added bonus, turning players who happened to die during the fight into so much meat is enough to dissolve a few people over vent into giggles.

When I started healing on my Priest main, I was Discipline because that's what I originally learned. Then I heard about Holy, and how it's more efficient if one can learn better mana management.
So I specced Holy, learned a new rotation, and it so far has served me very well. While I still have my Disc off-spec, I don't foresee myself ever going back.

I levelled BM as a Hunter, because it was good for solo'ing, then when I hit 80 my guild prodded me to respec survival. I did, after they introduced dual-spec, and I've not touched my BM 'main' spec in months.

My guild made me switch to Destro because they said my dps wasn't high enough, when in actuality my dps in Destro was only slightly higher than what it was in Affliction. The reason? I don't like destro. stare

My guild has two other active raiding warlocks. I think one is Destro and the other flops between Destro and Demo. They usually beat me on the damage meter but not by a ton. And they both have better gear than I do.
I was guild shopping for a couple of months before ICC hit, then joined these guys right about when it hit, then sat out a lot as initiate rank, then finally made raider and got some DKP.
So I'm curious to see if more ICC gear will put me up with them anyway.

But Holy kept getting nerf after nerf after nerf and it was ridiculously unnecessary especially when Resto Druids in TBC were the ones with no over-healing and all the mana regen >_< It really made me not want to be Holy for a long time sad

It's supposedly the highest-dps spec right now, but it's way more buttons from what I understand. My boyfriend enjoys it on his hunter a lot more than Survival, especially when Survival got that nasty nerf to Explosive Shot D:
