Today was to be Kaydon's first double class, and although he was excited he couldn't help but feel a bit...well.
Confused.
Why in the world would they send him such different boys at the same time? Why not two snakes or two horses? His usual plan to teach the students about themselves was destroyed. Today they would learn about cells, like any other student might. He waited for them behind his desk, wondering if there was legs or just a tail beneath the part of the snake boy his ID picture showed.

Ter had no idea what sort of class it was that he was going to, just knew that it was one of the ones that he had to take. He preferred the classes that he got to pick himself, his melee classes having always been his favorite but this one he wasn't so sure about. Biology...? Didn't sound very interesting if you asked him. The snake was slumped over Baroness's back, his coils waved through the her spines, arms crossed on the back of her head with his head resting on them. The dragoness was used to carrying him around as she knew he could be a bit lazy about some things but she didn't mind so much, not when it was her boy. He was among few that she allowed to climb all over her, the other person who had permission to do so whenever she wished was Maria.
"What sort of class is this?" She asked of Ter, this place that they were in was different from where they went for his melee classes and no outside like where they had her sorts of classes. Her long, barbed tail was lashing behind her as she sniffed.
"Don't know, Biology its called. Sounds boring but I need a passing grade." So long as he paid attention and didn't sleep during the class he should be fine, right? He hoped so. The wyvern walked through the door into the classroom and it was only then that Ter finally slid off her back and gathered his coils up so that he could rise up on them, "Hey." He said, greeting the teacher before he slithered over one of the desks to sit down in it, dragging his many coils to gathering around the base of the seat.
Baroness looked over at the the teacher for a moment before she moved over to find somewhere to settle down to watch... or nap depending on what she thought of the information at hand.

As per usual with Valens he was running a little late, not because he wanted to be or because he was slacking off or anything like that. Instead it was because his sense of direction was just... terrible. He ran on passed the right door to the right class and behind him the Silver dragoness gave a little sighing sound, "Valens! You went to far!" She called after him, tail thumping against the ground in a slightly exasperated fashion. She loved her boy, really she did, but there were days that he really needed to learn to pay attention better.
The horse boy slid a bit on his hooves, scrambling to catch himself before he turned around to run back to where she was... slid again and caught himself on her, "Here? Okay, thanks El." He said, patting her smooth scales before he brushed off in an attempt to make himself appear a bit more presentable. Not an easy feat given his clothing was a torn up wreck and his hair was going in all directions. Perhaps he should have saved his exercise time for after the class instead of before it. He would remember this for next time he told himself before he head into the classroom, "Hello!" He greeted those inside before his eyes fell upon Ter and he froze in place.
A snake... Oh hell why did he have to be here? Valens felt the overwhelming urge to turn around and head back out the door. He didn't much like snakes, something about them just gave the horse teen chills up and down his back. He felt a nudge against his back from Ellie's nose and he sighed, stepping forward to take up a seat at a desk, making sure that there was one between himself and the snake. His ears flicked back and forth before ultimately laying back against his head as he tried to ignore the snake and instead watch the teacher that was there instead.
Ellie smiled before she moved to sit with the wyvern, giving the other female a polite nod of her head before she settled down to watch the proceedings, hoping that her boy did well in this class.

Ah, so the boy had only a tail. That was unfortunate...or perhaps not? People all moved in different ways, and one who never had legs couldn't really miss them, could they?
"Hello," Kaydon said finally, gesturing for the boy to take a seat anywhere, which he did anyway, "You're Terpsichore, then? We're waiting for one other boy, Valens, and then we can begin." He spent the time between his first and second student's arrival preparing the microscope on the dissection table. Teenagers were late, as were people of any other age. It was nothing to be angry about. He was slightly worried, however, when he saw the horse-boy's reaction to Ter. This class may be even more awkward than he had been expecting.
"Welcome, Valens! Now we can begin. Did you both bring your notebooks?"

Ter gave a glance over at Valens, remembering him from several other classes that they ended up sharing before he flicked his tongue out at the horse. It seemed as though he wanted to keep space between them, not that he cared in the least but he did find himself wondering the hell the horse's problem with him was. He gave a little hissing sound, meh... it shouldn't worry him. It wasn't as though he even liked hanging out with other guys aside from a very select few that he deemed good enough. He'd prefer the company of women any day which made this class a bit of a failure if you asked the snake.
He jerked his head over to looking at the teacher when he spoke, starred at him for a long, drawn out moment before he gave a half shrug, "Nope, didn't have a clue what sort of class I was taking so I didn't bring one." He said, he wasn't used to taking notes as more often then not all of his classes were physical in nature which required nothing of him notes wise.
He glanced over at the horse for a moment, wondering if he'd bothered to bring supplies like that. He really hoped not else he would look a bit like a moron, not something that Ter liked in the least bit.

Valens seemed to freeze in place when he heard the hissing sound and another chill went up his spine as well as is ears pressing back against his head further. Ick, that sound! He was happily distracted by the teacher speaking and he turned to look over at him. Wait, what? Notebook? His eyes went a bit wide. Oh no, oh no... did he have one? He looked from side to side, fumbled and then gave a sighing sound of relief when Ellie set his bag down on the desk in front of him before she returned to where she'd been sitting. If it weren't for her the horse was pretty sure he'd lose his head if it wasn't firmly attached.
He dug around in the bag to get out a note book and a pair of pens, laying them out on the desk, "Phew, yes. I have some." He said, looking to the side when he felt the snake's eyes on him and he shifted in an uncomfortable manner, "W-What?" He asked of him, while physically Valens was a very strong young man he was unable to stand up against the creepiness that was the snake.

Ter flicked out his tongue again at Valens then gave a fanged smirk, he knew fear when he tasted it. This could be rather useful to him he thought as he looked over the items that the horse had on his desk, he gave the teacher a momentary glance before he rose up on his coils, leaned over the desk that was between himself and Valens before he snagged up one pen and the notebook. He opened it up, tore out a good amount of paper, then tossed it back onto the desk.
A moment later he was settling back into his seat, looking quite pleased with himself as he looked over at Kaydon, "Alright, I'm good." He said, grinning away as he wrote his name on the top of the first sheet of paper in his rather messy handwriting. He could read it so that was all that really mattered.

Valens didn't protest in the least as his supplies were pilfered, instead looking as though he were going a bit pale as the snake got so close that he could feel his breath. The fact that he was only after one pen and a few sheets of paper made him feel rather grateful really, better then it could have been if the creepy, pierced up guy wanted to say take a bite out of him. He flicked his tail in an agitated manner before looking to the teacher, wanting him to start class so that he could get his mind off of who he was sharing the room with.
He just had to keep facing forward, if he didn't look to the side then he wouldn't see the snake and he would be able to survive this class. Of course even as he thought this he kept glancing over to the side as though expecting an attack.

Kaydon arched a brow, watching the proceedings with a bit of apprehension. The snake boy was playing with the horse boy, he was almost certain. He would have offered paper of his own if he hadn't just dodged over to tear it out himself. Hm. He would have to make a note to test these two separately.
"...alright then," he said finally, "Today we'll be going over basic animal cells. Just something to start you on the right foot in biology. God knows you'll be taking a lot of classes in it."
He drew an oblong shape on the board, gave it a large circle near the top, filled it with dots, and drew a few odd bean-shaped things alongside a strange little squiggle.
"The outside of an animal cell is generally called a cell membrane. How incredibly creative, hm?" He labeled it as he spoke, as he did with all of the other portions of the crude drawing. "The...well. The goo, the fluid everything floats in is call cytoplasm. It's something like The Blob after hazing rolled over a few dozen yards of random trash."
He drew a line out from the large circle.
"This is the nucleus. Consider it a kind of...brain of the cell. It's full of DNA and it controls all the processes of the...ah. Well, the other parts. Organelles, they're called. I wish I was kidding. There's another bulb within he nucleus called the nucleolus. Again, I wish I was kidding. For now, don't worry about its function. It includes DNA and RNA and just...well. Not important for you right now. Perhaps if you end up in an advanced class later on. Just know where it is and what it's called. When a cell wishes to reproduce, a smaller nucleus will break off and become its own cell, taking some of the cell membrane and cytoplasm with it. Much more parasitic than a human child."
He moved to the little bean-shaped doohickeys.
"These are the mitochondria. They control a cell's growth and death. It is to a cell what a pituitary gland is to you...ah. Well, close enough, anyway. It also supplies the chemical energy the cell needs to run, sort of like a tiny nuclear power plant."
Once more to the squiggly line.
"This is a...well. A Golgi Body. A Golgi Apparatus. Whatever you want to call it, it's sort of like a very complex stomach. It packages up proteins and the like either to be excreted out of the cell or used within." Two arrows were drawn.
He hadn't rushed, perse, but he hadn't taken any time for questions. He knew normal children would have no interest in the complex inner workings of an animal cell; they wanted to see the little buggers.
"Any questions so far?"

The pair seemed to have a similar look on their faces when the teacher turned to them to ask if they had any sort of questions about what the teacher had just said. They looked as though they were both deer caught in headlights of a semi that was about to strike them down.
"The... Hell...?" Ter was the first to speak, looking at what was scribbled down on the board and at all of the nothing he'd written down and then shook his head, "Yeah... can you explain that one again for those of us that don't speak your language?" He asked, the guy might as well have been speaking Latin for all the sense it made to him. He wondered for a moment if the teacher was just screwing with them... going through all that nonsense so fast.

Valens's ears turned forward before one turned toward Ter when he spoke and for once the snake seemed almost... funny instead of scary because of what he was saying. He didn't laugh though, not wanting to upset the teacher or look bad in front of Ellie. Instead he lifted a hand to cover an almost chuckle with a cough before rapidly shaking his head, "No questions." He said as he had no questions really since he had no idea what he should be asking... there was so much that was said by the teacher...
Maybe the teacher would do as Ter requested and repeat it in a more simple fashion? He sure hoped so.

Kaydon sighed and laughed. Instead of responding right away, he returned to the microscope and turned on the screen. The image that played was of various lethargically wriggling unicellular organisms, some of which had long tails or seemed to be surrounded in hair.
"I asked you to take notes, not to understand. Yet," he said, and then pointed to on cell that sat more or less still, dyed brown for extra contrast.
"See this?" he asked, using a long pointer to circle the cell, "That's the membrane. It holds everything in. Like skin." He paused only a moment before pointing to the inside.
"All of this goo is the cytoplasm. C-y-t-o-p-l-a-s-m. Think plasma. Scifi ooze. It's something like that. It keeps everything floating so the poor things don't have to drag themselves around."

Ter lifted an eyebrow as the weird... things were put on display before he found himself grinning, showing fangs when the teachers said that they weren't meant to understand yet, "Thank the Gods for that." He muttered as he starred down at his blank paper and set to scribbling down the things the teacher was saying. He didn't exactly care as much as he probably should but at the same time he didn't feel like failing this class since it would likely mean taking it again... a whole other session of this guy that spoke in a weird, foreign language that sounded almost like English but not really.
Skin, goo, dragging... his notes picked up on the important bits but they weren't exactly word for word and rather messy. Note taking was no his strong suit which was more then a little obvious to anyone that might be watching but when had he really had to take them of late?

The horse was diligently taking down his notes, mostly because there was no way he'd remember all of this if he didn't have it written down. There was only so much room in his head and were he to memorize this stuff something equally as important might be lost! He lifted his head as the strange stuff was put up for display and described slowly by the teacher for what it was. Some of it actually started kind of interesting, goo and ooze, that was funny.
When he had all the notes down that were given thus far he lifted his head up, watching the teacher, his ears flicking back and forth as he watched for what was said next. He was certain this was going to be something he would need to go to his Mother about... or his Father but he'd rather not look for homework assistance with that guy given he was by far smarter then Val was ever going to be.

Kaydon continued on pointing out the parts and explaining their functions scientifically, followed by an extremely unscientific explanation. These kids perhaps weren't the most interested, but they were fun, and that was good. The lesson was followed by a little game; I point to this, you tell me what it is. Then, for the remainder of the period, the boys and their teacher simply scoped out the rest of the unicellular organisms in the microscope, commenting and adding bits of new knowledge here and there. He was a bit sad when the bell rang, really.
"Alright, out you two go! Class is dismissed!"
