Name : Braden MacCrimmon Nicknames : Really? How does one shorten Braden? Bra? Braid? Den? This does not compute.
Age : 19 Birthday : August 27th Sign : Virgo Gemstone : Peridot
Bloodtype : B
Favourite Food : Fast-food french fries. Hated Food : Haggis. God this stuff tastes nasty.
School : Sovereign Heights
Hobbies : --- The bagpipes - It started with his father making him learn, as he's not actually all that interested in his Scottish heritage. Once he realised they were a real challenge, however, and not something he could master in ten minutes he wouldn't let the damn things alone. He will get good at them.
Cliff diving - He doesn't get the chance to do it often, but there's just something about the jumping that gets his blood pumping. He's not one for the falling or the landing, but by God the jump is great enough to make them worth it.
Track & Field - Boy loves to run. Even if he's not the fastest or most efficient runner, he loves the exhilaration and simplicity of simply running.
Virtues : --- "Never give up! Never surrender!" - Braden is unrelenting. In all aspects of his life he does not quit in getting things done, voicing his opinions, and standing up for what he believes is good. Even when all odds appear to be against him; such as his good ol' Dad and the Failure Brigade(i.e. - His family).
"This is fantastic!" - Braden embraces life with gusto. Or rather, with a natural exuberance. Even if life isn't so awesome he believes that everything has a big-bright, shining, silver lining and all you have to do to make things better is grab life by the balls and hang on. It's the only way he can get himself through the hardships of constantly disappointing those he loves.
"I'm watching you" - When you're essentially raised to be seen and not heard- observation is key. He has a quick mind that enjoys soaking up all information available to him and making note of it. He probably won't use what he observes in the day-to-day, but it's still there. Up in his noggin.
Self-contained - It's very important to note that just because Braden is a "grab life by the horns" and "never back down" sort of fellow, he is not loud and boisterous. He simply isn't that type of person. He's got a quiet intensity about him, as opposed to something akin a golden retriever.
Flaws : --- Low-low self esteem - He's constantly trying to improve himself because he never believes he's any good, because he's always told he's never any good. He could be the best bag-piping cross-country running, cliff diver in the UNIVERSE and he would still apologize for not meeting expectations or for not tying his shoes properly. Braden constantly believes that everyone is better than he is. At everything.
Critical paranoia - He KNOWS that no one actually likes him, it's just a conspiracy to build his ego before smashing it on the rocks and breaking him. He does not truly believe he is loved. This especially extends to his family, they've never told him as such but he knows it's why they're always so disappointed in him. He won't go out of his way to include people in his life because of this, and will therefor be that much more suspicious should someone else make the effort to get to know him. It is a vicious cycle, and one that leaves others a great opportunity to do exactly what he already fears is true.
"That there's a creeper" - Braden gets lost in just how intense he can be when something excites him. You know that guy at lunch; the one with the dark circles under his eyes and he's talking about how amazing the last track meet was? That's probably Braden. He scares people off more often than not with this behavior. Cementing in his mind that he just isn't meant to have friends.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Dark, denim blue, in a smoky sort of way. They're always skewed up into a deep-thinking determined way. How he doesn't have constant headaches, I don't know.
Hair: Short, dark sandy blonde, and badly chopped. Stops just above his ears in a scraggly way, the fringe above his eyes would form into a downward facing point in the middle of his forehead, except it goes up as he's always grabbing it in his hands when he thinks.
Face: Allergic to the sun type of pale, with a freckling and a constant sun-burn across the bridge of his nose and cheeks from running outside and other hobbies. He wears a "soul patch" under his bottom lip with no mustache to match. 'Staches itch and are gross.
Fashion: School - Everything is school-regulated. He likes to switch out his loafers or dress shoes with cloth sneakers occasionally. Tie: Loose.
At home - Casual slacks ranging in color and pattern, paired with a t-shirt and zip-up hoodie of some kind.
Out & About - A step up from his home wear. Braden replaces the hoodie with a sports jacket to match the slacks, and finds a complimentary hat.

Cavalier Caelum of The Breach
Breach [breech] –noun 1. the act or a result of breaking; break or rupture. 2. an infraction or violation, as of a law, trust, faith, or promise. 3. a gap made in a wall, fortification, line of soldiers, etc.; rift; fissure. 4. a severance of friendly relations. 5. the leap of a whale above the surface of the water. 6. Archaic. the breaking of waves; the dashing of surf.
Caelum is the latin term for "the chisel", to consistently and with gentle action destroy one thing to create another. Typically to create beauty or use. His everyday actions reflect this like looking at yourself in water, but as a Cavalier it is all that he is. The easiest way to make something beautiful and just is to chip away, insistently, at whatever is standing in your way. Come what may, death or otherwise, Caelum will serve his Shittenou for as far and as long as they want. Nothing. Will. Stop. Him.
This is a man that takes his duty very ******** seriously.
Becoming a Cavalier, for Braden, is like getting a second chance. A second family he can prove himself too. A family that, just maybe, will love and appreciate him. A higher calling than that of his father is exciting to Braden. A new adventure he might come out of on top; and even if he doesn't, the "jump" was damn fun. Despite Braden truly never believing he's a valuable member to the team, he will still do anything in his power to follow orders and go above and beyond what is needed of him. If just in the hopes that he can prove himself wrong.
Uniform: - EXACTLY LIKE THE OTHER CAVALIERS! Except that it would be more "him" to wear Converse where boots or formal shoes would be. They aren't beautiful, but they're Braden and they're practical. Especially when running. He doesn't have to though, if ordered not to.
Main color - Pastel Rainbow.

Family :
Father : Doug Hugh MacCrimmon - Age 56 - Carpenter - Braden and Doug do not get along at all. Doug views his only son as a vast disappointment physically, emotionally, and intellectually. This is a man that considers himself "discerning" when really he's a controlling d**k. Braden will do all he can to gain his father's love and approval, even though he'll tell you he doesn't care.
Mother : Geraldine Ann MacCrimmon - Deceased - Braden believes his mother is part of the reason his father hates him. This time- He might be right. Geraldine died when Braden was 5, and other than being a male Braden takes after her more than anything. Looks, personality, and interests. This either makes it very hard on Doug to witness, or he really is just a controlling d**k.
There are various Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins that come in and out all the time in Braden's life but they're all related to Doug and tend to treat Braden as more of a useless house-pet or decoration instead of a human being.

he seems fine, but my only thought is that his self-loathing might be a touch too much. If he hates and despises himself this much already, then what is he going to be like when he finds out hes a cavalier?

I think that's the fun of it? He could go any which-way. Though with his intensity and enthusiasm for life and all it's glories, I think this might be the thing that starts the breaking down of his esteem issues. Giving him purpose higher than the approval of his family.
... I will put this in the Cavalier section and hopefully it will make more sense.

He sounds great Lolli, but you don't really touch on his heritage and why he doesn't like haggis. Aside from the claymore and the bagpipes are there any other nods to his homeland? You know, flag outside his house; the rampant lion somewhere. Anything to show his Scottish pride, if he is proud of being Scottish. Maybe an explanation of why if he isn't. *chuckles* Sorry, got carried away. I just find that most Scots are very proud of where they come from. *totally knows this from significant other experience*

Thank you~ That's a great idea! I guess I kind of take it for granted that my husband and his family are proud of their Scottish heritage, but that they never really say why. It's just always stuff they have about, and an attitude they have. xD

Pst! I like the nod to the claymore but just a heads up that it got mentioned in passing ((If I dig it up again I'll direct link you)) - that Cav's all get Rapier's, they don't get to choose their swords I'm afraid!
