Here's an article that was in the USA Today, talking to the actors and producers about LOST's final season:
http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2010-01-28-lost28_CV_N.htm
If I see anymore cool articles, I'll put them up, too. I can't believe it's less than a week away! xd

Okay...so what do you think the monster is Luna? I'm actually impressed that the writers have tied together all the plot threads so well, but the last season had one MAJOR flaw to me...
After living with the Darmha for so long shouldn't Sawyer have found out a lot more about them? Does the man simply ask NO questions? Oh and I HATE I mean HATE Kate. If I'd had my way I'd have killed her off in season 2, but she's REALLY getting on my nerves now...
But we're talking about the conclusion here. What's your predictions for the last season? And who do you think is up with Locke. Great series for sure, but that may have been the most frustrating season finale ever for me.

That's a long list of great questions, Kira; I'll give you my take, but who knows what will be true by the time the series ends xp
The Smoke Monster A physical manifestation of the Island, the Island's spirit, perhaps? My theory is that it was worshiped by the early inhabitants of the Island, the builders of the 4-toed Statue, and that they built a temple around it's central dwelling place.
Sawyer and Dharma I have a hunch that only Dr. Marvin Candle and the other Dharma scientists know why they're really there. Everyone else is brought there with hopes of living on a groovy island and working together to 'save the world'. Sawyer's not stupid; he's good at keeping his cover, and though he probably tossed in a question here and there the main goal is to keep people from finding out they aren't really Dharma until Locke gets back. I'm sure anyone important would brush Sawyer the Security Guy aside, and the last thing he wants is to look suspicious by acting too curious. His prime goal is survival; for now, he leaves the deep questions to Jack and Locke.
Kate has never been my favorite character, but I can see why they keep her around: to keep up the romantic tension with Sawyer and with Jack, and to take care of Aaron for a while. I don't pay that much attention to her anymore; the sheer awesomeness of some of the other characters often erase her from my mind.
As for the ending.....well. As my Dad said after we recovered from the finale, they've set it up so that practically anything could happen and make some form of sense in the LOST-verse. And have you guys seen the new commercial for the premiere? The one where they play a bunch of scenes in reverse?! In the USA Today article I linked to in my other post, it said that characters like Claire, Boone, and Libby will be coming back. The ridiculous number of possibilities for this season will make my head explode if I think about it for more than a few seconds.
I'll also admit that my hopes and expectations for the final season are a bit biased because I am a diehard Locke fan. Deep down, I have a feeling that in the end, Locke will save the day heart The word is that many questions will be answered by the end of the series, so I'm thinking that we'll find out why Richard never ages, the deal with Jacob and his nemesis, and hopefully (if they haven't forgotten) why some people were abducted by Others and some weren't, waaaay back in Season 1 (it's been driving me crazy for years stressed )
Feel free to post your favorite/least favorite characters and any theories you have about how things will turn out in the end!
A Disclaimer: Don't worry, you don't have to agree with me! I will not have you banned from the thread if you think my theories are dumb and that the real mastermind behind Dharma is Vincent the golden retriever. All thoughts and theories are welcome!

I DO wonder about that dog... xd
I guess your right about Sawyer, plus you got to take into account he was glad to get some peace and quiet, he probably became a quite content, and really who could blame him. sweatdrop
No excuse for Kate though. When she was first introduced I thought she'd be trouble then get killed, when she was still around I thought she'd become a better person and redeem herself (Like Charlie, Desmond, Hurley, Etc.) but the final season is upon and all this woman thinks about is herself, and who she can "depend"on (read: USE) next. confused
I think the monster theory is close, but I wonder if they'll have a more detailed explanation, then again the vague spirit approach is fine by me, that thing is really cool.
Locke is hands down my favorite Lost character, and I hope he does save the day and prove everyone wrong. But is it really even Locke on the island now? I mean they brought his corpse out and everything, and he talked so familiarly with Jacob before he killed him, feels to me like somebody else is in control of him now. Hope he fights back regardless.
Something I didn't expect was really enjoying Ben's fall from grace this past season. He's such a horrid character, but seeing him stripped of everything then having his nose rubbed in it was cathartic, and quite satisfying. I wonder what's going to happen to him now?
I actually liked Faraday quite a lot and so am sad to see him dead. It's the Lost thing, I liked Charlie a lot, he's dead, I liked Boone once he started manning up, now he's dead, I like Anna Lucia, she's dead,I liked the Frenchwoman, she's dead, I liked Mr Echo, he's dead, I liked Faraday, bang shot through the heart by his (pregnant with himself) mother.
Come on guys!
I wonder how much will be reset by the crews efforts in 1977, hopefully not everything like Jack hopes, that would negate far too much, making the story so far largely pointless.
How will it turn out in the end? I really can't guess, but I hope Jack gets home and feels more whole (and does NOT get with Kate) I hope Locke makes peace with the Island and lives well, and that Ben dies in a satisfying (but meaningful) way...everything else I think I can handle. xp

My brain almost imploded when they rolled Locke's body out of the casket; to think everything that happened to all of these people was just because of a fight between two gods, that Locke was used like that, it would break my heart emo I definitely stand by the idea that Real Locke will come back and save the day, no matter what mystical Possessed Jacob-Hating Locke does talk2hand
I definitely liked Daniel Faraday and Mr. Echo, and for all we know, with the commercial playing brief scenes in reverse, most of the dead characters might even come back for some mystical cameos while everything gets sorted out in the end. And the part of the show that got me hooked was the scenes of Locke and Boone pondering over what was in the hatch. Poor Boone!
Yes, Ben needs a suitable, meaningful death scene, Locke needs to save the day, Jack definitely needs some peace in his life, and (although I rareley root for ships in my various fandoms) Sun has to reunite with Jin, and Desmond and Penny need to live happily ever after blaugh

I fear for Desmond, every time something happens to him it looks like he dies but so far he has escaped that fate. I hope he continues to do so.

I'm back! I wanted to give everyone enough time to see the 2 hour premiere before I started spouting off theories, then things started getting a bit hectic, but anyway, I am enjoying this season and super excited about tonight's Locke-centric episode!
@Shadow of Malus: I am definitely a Desmond fan, and if the show's finale doesn't include Desmond and Penny sailing off in the sunset, I will be extremely upset crying
Here on some things I've been pondering:
UnLocke/The Man in Black I've actually been calling him Esau, because he's Jacob's counterpart; at this point, it seems as if Jacob and Esau are the Light and Dark forces of the Island (of the Universe?!) and what's left for us to discover is how all of the Flight 815 survivors and the Dharma Initiatve tie in to their plots and conflicts. Are our beloved characters merely pawns in a power struggle to vast for them to comprehend, or do they each have a greater purpose, destinies to fulfill that will bring enlightenment and restore balance in the universe?
The Spring in the Temple Sayid was dead, then was alive again! That was a wild ending. My new theory is that they are going to eventually bring Locke's body to the spring and bring hm back to life so that Esau is weakened and Locke and Sayid can save the day and fulfill their destinies mrgreen Think about it: they had a lingering shot of Locke's body on the beach then switched to a scene of Sayid lying dead on the temple floor; I think that's a hint of things to come. Also, when Alternate Universe Jack and Locke talked at the airport, they had this conversation about Locke being in a wheelchair:
"My condition is irreversible." "Nothing is irreversible."
As you can see, that's also my new signature xd Either it's a gigantic red herring and was only pointing at Sayid coming back, or John Locke is totally going to come back and save the day. Speaking of the the new timeline, I've seen several theories about the new alternate universes. Some people think that the alternate timeline will just show us how different things could be, others think that destiny can't be avoided and things will all happen the same way, and some think that the two timelines will converge. I think that they will at least parallel each other, especially since Ethan was Claire's doctor when she went to the AltU hospital!
And finally, What's wrong with Sayid? They're saying he's been Claimed, that he's Infected, which obviously refers to the fate of Danielle Rousseau's scientist friends. Has he been taken over by the Dark Side? Will he be able to fight it off, or will he assist Evil Locke in overthrowing all that is left of whatever Jacob stood for?
I'll stop there and continue my musings later; enjoy the new episode, everyone!
~Namaste~
