The days have just been flying back as of late. His second litter was starting to do their rites and become adults. It was hard to imagine that they were almost adults when his grandcubs were growing up right his very eyes as well! He shook his head softly, Sevati was still his lovely angel and nothing would change that. Not even time!
His eyes scanned the borders, watching for any lions that might stumble their way close to the pride. There were always cubs he had to protect, so he went about his job as serious as any other day. No reason to start slacking at any time!
By the look of the sun, it would be coming close to the end of his shift as he'd switch with another lion and get to spend the rest of the time with his family. That thought made him full of warmth on the inside. There was nothing more rewarding than his family.

Aapep was exhausted from the journey. Not because anything out of the ordinary had really happened, but just because of the length and time that it seemed to take to journey from one place to another. He didn't think he could have chosen to live further away from his family if he had tried! In any case, they had arrived and all in one piece, which he was eternally grateful for.
Walking in pace with his mate, Aapep kept a look out for signs that they were drawing near. The first sign had been the scent of the sea. The wind brought that scent for miles, luring them to it.
It was an odd but pleasant smell, one that reminded him of that beautiful time they had all been reunited as family after so long a time.
And then the landscape began to change and Aapep knew they were nearing his brother's homeland, at last! His pace had quickened, unknowingly, and in his eagerness, he almost missed the figure on the horizon.
A guard?
"Someone guards the pride, over there, love." Aapep murmered. "We'd best go see him first and make sure we're not over stepping the mark. The last thing we want to do is upset anyone here."

Mawi Mai was excited to have gone with Aapep on this journey to see his brother. Everything was so different and exciting. Mawi Mai couldn't contain her excitement, along with the music coming from the shakers around her ankle she was humming quietly and cheerfully. Sure it was a long journey and she was also pretty tired herself. However the excitement of meeting Aapep's family and the excitement for traveling all the way out here she had felt really awake. Even though she was more than sure that she would end up being dead tired a little later but at the second she didnt' care!
The smell of the ocean was exciting to her. She had never smelt anything like that. She moved closer to Aapep, pushing her body against his purring quietly as she did, shaking her neck to adjust the drum around her neck. "Is that the ocean?" She asked curiously wanting to make sure that she wasn't mistaking it for something else. She looke ddown at the ground, looking at the change in foliage under her feet. As she looked up she started to realize that Aapep was moving faster, she giggled and started to trot to keep up with him.
Her eyes glanced up toward the horizon, looking up at the male. A guard? She had heard of them before, knew what the word meant however the concept of guards was something new. There wasn't really any in her pride. She was so used to friendly and safe prides so having a guard standing out side was all so very new and even just a little frightening to her. "Alright." She nodded before looking up at the male it was hard to make out what he looked like, but she was going to let Aapep do all of the talking. She was starting to get a little nervous.

Just as he was about to turn around and head on back to touch base with another guard something caught his attention. He focused his attention in that direction as he took a few steps forward and spotted two figures starting to come into view in the distance.
He watched them quietly as he noted they were coming closer and closer in his direction without stopping. Well, might as well greet them and let them know they are coming towards pridal territory. He called out so that they could hear him, "He---" And then his voice caught in his throat as he was able to get a better look at the two lions not too far away from him.
Why did the male look so familiar? He was at a loss of words for a moment before his eyes widen and his heartbeat was caught in his throat. Was it really him? It couldn't be! He hadn't seen him since he was just a wee-little cub! He made his way closer to the male as he asked softly, "Aapep!....Is that really you?" He was shocked beyond belief to see his little brother at the border of his pride, of all places.

"It is." He replied. "Beautiful, isn't it? The lions here live by this ocean. It's very much a part of their lives. That's how it seemed to me, anyway, the last time we visited." It was odd, really. He was so happy to be back here, reliving the moment he trod this land next to his mother. And yet it made him sad, because she was not here this time.
He was sad that this meeting would bring both joy and pain. But it had to be done. It was worse to let Ravi go on without knowing...
As if sensing Mawi's nervousness, he stepped closer to her and smiled softly. "Don't worry. It's just a precaution. As far as I can tell, this pride is as peaceful as our own." But he was a little nervous, too. However, he didn't have much time to dwell on it. A moment later and the guard seemed to be moving forwards to intercept them. And, as he heard the other call out, he realised, too, that the guard was no stranger.
It was Ravi!!
He faltered a little, blinking with surprise. "Ravi! You remembered!" He cast his eyes towards his mate and grinned at her. "That's him, Mawi. My brother!" He adored having family that connected him to his mother and Ravi did so look like Kirjava. Without warning he sprang into a fast lope, using the last of his energy to close the gap between them. "We came to visit, you, brother! This is my mate, Mawi Mai. She wanted to come with me to meet you."

Mawi Mai looked around in awe before glancing back at her mate and nodding happily. "It's more that beautiful! I can't wait to see the water up close." She did a little dance while she walked before bumping into him playfully. Everything was so interesting to her, and on top of that so many things were going through her head, this was all exciting, fun, happy yet over all of it, it's sad. Just the over all reason why they were there was a bit of a killer. However she had a feeling they would have a great time anyway! or at least she hoped she wasn't about to leave right away after this long of a travel!
However the nervousness was going to drive her crazy. Guards? Her mates words calmed her some however she was still just a little nervous. She looked at him and pulled at his mane just a little bit. "Thank you love, that makes me feel better." She flicked her hair out of her eyes pressing up against him more. The male was starting to come her way and she looked up at Aapep. Oh god she was hoping this pride was friendly too! She had never gotten into a fight in her life. But just as she was starting to think that she looked and heard the male call Aapep's name, the the male answer back. Apparently it was Ravi.
She started to feel excitement as she looked at the male. As she looked at him she realized, he really looked like their mother. Wow she was surprised. She watched as her mate ran to his brother. She had a smile onf her face she could feel Aapep's excitement radiating off of him. "Hello Ravi." She giggled a little bit pawing at the two as she wandered closer to the pair of males.

As the gap between the two shorten Ravi reached out to nuzzle his brother affectionately. His brother's scent was so different and unique, nothing of the ocean and where he lived. After a moment, he stepped back to get a good look at Aapep. Gosh, he had grown to be so big, almost as big as he was!
His ears perked forward as he heard his brother's words and let his eyes shift towards the lioness heading their way. His brother's mate? Well, this was clearly an unexpected surprise! With a smile towards Mawi, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Mawi. I am Ravi." And a dip of his head respectful towards the lioness' direction.
But he was still very curious, "This is very unexpected and a pleasant surprise. And you came just at the right time as my shift was getting ready to end. Oh, Sevati's so not going to believe me now when I tell her you're here. There's so much to catch up on!" He was visible excited, it wasn't every day that his brother, and his mate, came to visit! "But enough standing here, let me bring you back to the den to rest as you both look tired." He could only guess how far away his brother's pride was from here and he imagined it wasn't a short trip by the look of the two.

He breathed deeply, the scent of his brother and the land surrounding him. Their scents were different, but there, underlying it all, was a scent of Kirjava. Something that brought both sadness and a surprising comfort.
He paused and waited for Mawi Mai to join them, stepping aside so that the three could talk more easily. He felt so much better being here with his brother close.
"We are both tired." Aapep agreed. "We aren't used to travelling much and I have to admit I'd forgotten how far our prides were apart!" He nuzzled against his mate, unsure when or how to breach the true reason for their coming. It wasn't just a friendly stop by...though he wished desperately that it was.
"There is a lot to catch up on." He continued. "I wish...I wish I could say it was all good news." He glanced at his mate, seeking some sort of direction in which to take it. "But...let's settle first. Much better than talking at the borders. It's good your shift is ending." He blinked. "How have you and Sevati been keeping?"

Mawi Mai looked at the two males before moving in between them a smile on her face. She wiggled into the spot that her mate opened up for her. She was very happy to feel like she was in place and that she was welcomed she had to admit she was still pretty nervous they were going to be staying here. Where they going to think she was strange for her drumming ways? She even came with her shakers and everything! Some reason she felt like she was really going to stick out a little bit.
Mawi Mai giggled a little bit before nodding toward her before letting out a small purr and nipping at her mate when he nuzzled her. She let out a small laugh and flicked her hair out of her eyes, nodding at the comment that her mate made. "I've really never have been this far away from my pride." She smiled softly, her voice sing-song-y and light, however she also knew the reason why they were there.
She wasn't that sure of what to do when he looked at her she shuffled her paws then moved herself a bit making herself comfortable on her paws. She gave the male a smile and nodded. She didn't know what to say or when to cut in. It was her mate's brother she didn't want to see rude!

((I'm soooooo sorry with not replying sooner! RL has been overwhelming! ;__; <3<3 ))
With a few glances here and there, Ravi spotted his replacement off in the distance. This was good, he thought to himself as he was being relieved of his duty at the border for the time being until his shift would start up again the next day.
His gaze shifted back towards his younger brother as he beckoned both him and his mate to follow him. "Right this way!" His tail flicked slightly as he paused briefly before answering Aapep, "We have been blessed with another litter that is getting so big now! One of our elder sons just had a litter so I have grandcubs! Can you believe that, Aapep?" His eyes got all misty, it was so hard to imagine that time was flying by so quickly. He remembered when he was young and it was just him and his mother.
A soft sigh escaped from him, not wanting to get too lost in his thoughts and memories of the past. It wouldn't be long before they neared the den.

(( s'okay m'love <3 ))
He smiled. "The family is getting bigger! Congratulations, brother." He replied, hardly believing that he had once thought himself an only child. He had a wonderful brother and many, many nieces and nephews. He felt so incredibly blessed.
"Its amazing how things can change in such a short amount of time. There was a day when I didn't realise I had any extended family. When it was just me."
He nuzzled against his mate gently. "But that all changed once I found a pride."

Mawi Mai looked at her mate and nuzzled him back with a smile growing on her face. "[Our family should be getting bigger too." She added to what her mate said a smile growing on her face a little more, she was pretty happy because she was thinking about the conversation that she was talking about before with him. Then smiling again. "And yes congrats on your family getting bigger too!" She chuckled slightly she already liked this this idea a lot. She was excited to have more cubs around in the family.
She then laughed a little more as she leaned in and nuzzled Aapep. She got distracted and started to look around at the various sights that were around her. She giggled slightly looking at the water and everything else around her. She was excited to be in and other pride for aa little while. Sure she loved to her pride and yes she wandered away from the pride some times when she was younger but right now this was the furthest she was.
