Hiyo!
So I am thinking of becoming a vegetarian. I have not eaten pork in almost three years and I rarely eat beef. My only problem is chicken. I like chicken alot! xD I am actually making a chicken burger right now. And I would also like to eat fish. My boyfriend and I order take out sushi about twice a week and I always get either the Chicken Katsu entree with a california roll, or an assorted tempura (mix of veggies and fish deep fried in batter) with rice. ((I had that last night for dinner)). My best friend is a vegetarian and she seems to like it! (she also dropped like 15 pounds! ) and I already take a multi vitamin with iron and I eat tofu like twice a week already. So what is stopping me? My love for chicken and fish! they are like the only meat I eat but i eat them often. So APG, what is your opinion on cutting out the meats? Should I try it?

I could never do it myself because like you, I love chicken and fish! And bacon, the only thing related to a pig I'll eat. Idk though, you don't need to be a vegetarian just because you don't like beef and pork. Since you like chicken and fish so much, I don't see why you should go vegetarian.

I guess try for like a week, see if you like it, you know?

i could never do it. i love my meat. gimme beef, pork or chicken any day (don't like seafood). i mean sure, i like veggies, but if you don't put them on my plate alongside the meat, i won't go hunt for them sweatdrop several of my friends attempted it back in grade six (though, i think at the time it was a bit more of a fad...don't ask), but they gave up in no time. not sure if they made another attempt later because i lost touch with them during high school.

i'd say, if you want to see if you can do it, take a shot at it. i'm not one to criticize someone's eating habits (or at least not for very long...i might joke about it though), so long as they don't start telling me that i shouldn't eat this or that for whatever reason based on their own opinions. if it doesn't work for you, i wouldn't worry about it. you like eating chicken and fish, so i think that's what matters.

Actually, this is totally awesome. lol

There are vegetarians that eat only chicken and fish. Its a category of their own. : )

I say become one of those, that's what I am. I mean I hate eating pork because pigs are smart as hell and we use them for medical purposes... so I feel like I'm eating a human being when I eat pig... orz I'm so getting a pet pig.

I only eat beef if I need the huge boost in iron (like when I'm losing a lot of blood). Other than that, all you need is fish and some chicken. Beef isn't all that good for you anyways, if you eat more than one serving of it a week for the rest of your life you're more likely to have a heart attack and have clogged arteries, yet, if you eat fish, you get a lot of healthy benefits to it! :3

I think this is what it is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pescetarianism
And: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollotarianism

So you would be a Pollo-Pesce-vegetarian. : )

There was an article I read on a test they did where men ate nothing but red meat up in the arctic for a year. First they tried not having fats, but they got sick. Once the fat was added again, they got healthy again. They actually LOST weight and were perfectly healthy.

The best thing to do is separate your meats and starches
if you eat Meat and Potatoes for example in the same meal, there is some sort of enzyme that breaks down both of them. Eating the meats and starches means twice as much work for the enzymes.
Starches include potatoes, bread, noodles, grains, etc.
So if you do something like make a stirfry, or use egg noodles instead of wheat noodles, you can save up on that.

so in other words, meats and vegetables or starches and vegetables. meats and starches in the same meal is a nono :3 I'm doing this now and i'm feeling pretty good.

Another thing to lose weight, if you're hungry, try drinking a full glass of water first and see if you're still hungry. It's based on the fact that these days humans cannot tell when they are hungry or thirsty. My friend's lost five pounds in the past month just by switching to the water diet.

@Hisaki; OMG! that is awesome! I would be a pollo-Pesce-vegetarian. hmmm... I think I am just for now going to cut out beef all together !!!!

@Sed; I am trying to stick to eating alot of rice and veggies. My mom did a diet like that a long time ago and she lost a total of 30 pounds. I also have cut out pop, and lowered my sugar intake. well starting today that is xD
-----
I gained like 20 pounds in the last 4 months. I need to lose it all! so thank you! I shall stick to the waters.

I already don't eat pork either, partly because I like pigs, also because I just hate pork. XD But I love beef! Seriously, hamburgers are the best. And chicken is great too.

However, I think that I will become a vegetarian, or at least partly become a vegetarian. I hate the idea of eating animals, and its also healthier to not have mat in your diet. But I won't do that until I move out of my mom's house because I don't want to force my mother to change her meals and grocery lists to accommodate for me. Also, since meat is more expensive, I'll save more money by not eating meat when I'm in college.

I'm vegetarian, but just because I think about baby animals: blame the movie Babe. But that's just me personally, I don't care if other people eat meat.

I say if you like eating chicken, fish, etc., eat chicken, fish, etc..

I personally would never be able to go vegetarian because I really like meat, and I'm already low on iron and somewhat anemic with my regular diet... I'd be a mess if I tried changing things around.

But! If you think you can do it, then I say go for it. <3

I love to eat meat, so I could really never go vegetarian. I don't really see much point. If you want to though, go for it! A bunch of my friends only eat vegetarian and they have a fine old time of it.

Well this is day two of me officially cutting out beef and limiting my meat intake. I have had only a chicken burger and a chicken breast wrap from Wendy's since I have decided smile

I hardly eat any meat when Im at the university.

Like you, I like chicken and fish. But I only eat chicken like.....once or twice in the 3 months Im here. But I do eat fish more often and is trying to eat at least 2 portion a week since it's the recommended amount of omega 3.

Other than that, I usually only eat veg, fruits, dairy etc etc.

I could possibly be a vegetarian. But I probably could not stand being a vegan.

(Both my housemates are a vegetarian and a vegan)

There are many type of vegetarian and someone mentioned. And it really depends on why would you want to be one.
