D: That sucks! Did they give you any reason?
Thanks for refriending me.
heart The reason was because I was translating manga for another user in exchange for Gaia gold. Let me go into the reasons why I think I shouldn't have been banned:
1. They say I received a warning, but I didn't. I check my account every day, and I didn't get it before they banned me. You get 4 days to respond to the solution to a help ticket; why not give that for the ban? It's like there's nothing you can do once they decide to ban you.
2. I really think the spirit of that rule is more to do with buying actual, tangible things with Gaia gold. That's not what this was. I was providing a service, and it was being provided by an amateur. Really, what I was doing wasn't worth real money, because I am not a professional. No one lost any business over this.
3. It sounds like they were concerned with copyright infringement. That's not what happened. There was no distribution between anyone other than me and the person I was translating for. These were manga that she personally bought and scanned in for me to translate and transmitted to me privately. It would be as if she had letters from a Japanese friend she couldn't read because these manga were either a) fan-made and thus would never make it to the States or b) were unpopular manga that are never going to be published in the States in English. That's why I'm saying no one lost business over this.
4. No transactions had taken place in over a month. So, really, the behavior had already stopped. What's the point of a warning if you have no way to prevent further punishment?
I'm not trying to argue that what we were doing wasn't against the rules. I had no idea at the time that what we were doing was against the rules, but I really think I should have been given the opportunity to correct my mistake before they banned me forever.
