It had been a while since Iah's new younger siblings were born, and thank the Great Lion that they were both boys! The lion was glad to finally have brothers, although it wasn't as if he didn't care about his sisters. He did, of course, in his own way, but Iah often liked coming home after a day of hunting and playing with his little brothers. It was a pretty content life for him and he liked it. Perhaps some other more adventurous souls would say it was boring, but hey, being around family was the best thing ever, right? It wasn't as if he stayed in the pride all day!
Iah had taken to being all grown up pretty well; being a Hunter was pretty cool. It allowed him to run around outside, hunt some prey, drag it back for the others to eat, and he had a certain fondness of watching the cubs of the pride eat what he had just worked hard for. And after that, he would take a stroll around the pride, like what he was doing today, smiling contentedly up at the night sky.

Technically speaking, Wambazi was a princess and being allowed to keep that title gave her a large amount of free time. While her class dictated that she ought to contribute, the title made it harder to question and push it. She tried, on occasion, but mostly avoided it. Without training, she didn't really find she was very good at either hunting or guarding. She much preferred to spend her time wandering around, looking out for interesting places, people or things around the pride. Maybe she took after her grandmothers.
Tonight, she had no real purpose for her wandering, though. She was just bored and feeling restless. Or so her excuse would be. Part of her motivation to actually get up and go for a walk was to see who might be out and about in the night. Everybody loved the night so they were generally up quite late but not everybody wandered. Now was a good time, and now that she was all grown up, nobody felt the need to follow or lead her around.
Despite her intent on finding others, she was surprised when she spotted someone. In the dark, it was hard to say for sure who it was but it was familiar enough so she headed closer.

There was the sound of someone moving behind him and he turned, thinking that it could be one of his siblings following him. He hadn't exactly seen his sisters in a while... perhaps that could be attributed to the fact that Iah liked playing with his brothers whenever he got back. It was another lioness now though, someone that looked rather familiar. He had seen her at the ceremony, maybe?
Then something clicked as he stared at her for a while, and he shook his head, looking sheepish. She was one of the Queen's daughters, wasn't she? He couldn't quite remember the name, and all Iah could do was to smile and dip his head in greeting. "Hi," he said, amid wondering if he should be calling her princess. But there was a pause, and he decided not to do it lest it seemed awkward.

"Hello," she called back cheerily when she'd been noticed, stopping some feet away to allow for personal space, "Iah, right?" Wambazi was pretty good at names, especially when it came to her family and the class she was in. There wasn't much else she really needed to dedicate her memory or effort to, so why not know everybody's names? It seemed like a good first step in being social.
"It's a beautiful night, isn't it?" she asked, looking up to the moon for a moment before looking back down to Iah, "Nice night for a walk." She smiled, not hesitating to assume he was not a guard on duty. She could only think of a pawful of guards and while purple seemed to be a commonly occurring color, she was almost positive Iah wasn't one of them.

"Yes." He said, while looking rather befuddled and a little abashed that she knew his name, but not the other way round. Iah wasn't particularly good at concentrating on the other lions that weren't in his family. Perhaps he knew some of the others in the Mwezi'Johari, but not enough, really. Maybe that was something for him to do, go to his parents and ask them to point out other lions and tell him their names.
Although he couldn't very well do it in this situation. "It's nice, yes." He said, though he was rather distracted with the thoughts of wondering how to put it across to her nicely that he didn't remember her name. When she obviously knew his. ...This was hard.
"I'm sorry." He blurted out, somewhat awkwardly after a few paw steps, "I'm not sure what your name is?" After he had said this, he winced, hoping it didn't sound too idiotic to her. "Lots of lionesses in the pride, y'know?" Though it wasn't as though he would mistake her for Ukene, though he hadn't really talked to her since he was a cub. Also, Ukene was a lot more talkative. A lot more.

Wamabazi smiled at his reaction to her, recognizing that he seemed a little awkward in confirming his name. He didn't really know who she was, which wasn't terribly surprising. She nodded when he finally confessed, chuckling. It was funny but he was also adorably careful about it.
"Don't worry about it," she said, offering some explanation as well as an introduction, "I'm good with names but I know not everybody is. I'm Wambazi. We're both in the upper-middle class." She almost added that they hadn't really spoken before but that seemed evident. Still, she didn't stop smiling.
"I'm pretty sure we're the largest group, so it's that much harder," she added.

His shoulders relaxed, and relief shone clearly through his face as she didn't seem to mind that he had no inkling of what his name was. "Wambazi." He repeated slowly, as if this would help him commit her name to memory. "I recall seeing you at the ceremony. With your siblings." Which were the royal family, really. Perhaps he should have put more effort into remembering their names, at the very least?
A moment of silence passed before he spoke again, trying to make conversation. It would be awkward if they both didn't talk at all. "So uh, how's things going for you?"

"That's right," she nodded cheerily, accepting it as another excuse not to really remember who she was, "Those are kind of awkward and busy, and I have quite a few brothers and sisters." Well, that was settled, then. Not that she had worried about not knowing her name, but if he still felt bad about it then he certainly should not have. As silence fell between them, she shuffled her feet awkwardly. She really didn't spend enough time socializing, she knew that.
"Very well," she said, her smile becoming a little more awkward now, "I didn't take a job so I've had a lot of free time, especially since nobody really follows you around and encourages any particular activity once you've grown up."
There was another small but awkward pause, "You're a hunter, right?"

Iah had brightened up considerably, putting the embarrassment of not knowing her name behind him. He knew it now, and that was all that mattered, right? If he knew it and then forgotten it, that would make him feel much more horrible.
"Oh." He said, looking a little surprised. "Isn't that boring then?" Without his job as a hunter, he would probably play with his brothers all day, though they might start to complain that he was being a little too protective, to follow them everywhere. And Iah understood; he had liked his free time from his sisters back when he was younger, after all.
"Yeah." He nodded with a grin. "So are my parents, and my sisters."

"I suppose," she murmured when asked if it was boring not having a job. Her parents were the king and queen and all of her siblings had kept their titles when they had reached independence. It would have been odd to make herself stand out by deviating from what the rest of them did- after all, there were just so many. And with all of them in the same status, they had each other to interact with- and the grandparents they interacted with, also a lord and lady.
"Do you like being a hunter?" she asked curiously. He'd already implied that he did when he asked if it was boring to not have to do anything but it couldn't hurt to ask. She could find out more about it that way, probably.

What else did you do if you didn't have a job? Iah wondered, scrunching his face up slightly in thought. It wasn't as if they were cubs anymore and could amuse themselves by playing with their siblings, playing with every single thing possible that was deemed interesting to the wide-eyed innocence of a cub. Or maybe she had other responsibilities, being of the royal family?
"It's not bad." He said with a grin. "I like it when I see others eat what I bring back. Gives a... sense of pride, y'know? Like you're contributing, like you're being useful, however little it may seem you're doing."

"Hunting certainly isn't any small task to do for the pride," Wamba argued almost immediately when he said it seems like you're doing so little, though her tone was still quite cheerful and a laugh even accompanied it, "Everybody needs to eat, it's probably not as appreciated as it ought to be."
She smiled.
"Besides, not everybody has time to hunt or can hunt," she said, "I don't even think I could if I had to." She'd certainly never learned a great deal about hunting, and what she did know wasn't likely enough to keep her from being more of an annoyance than a help.

He only beamed at her in return, thinking the same. Food was indeed important, and he as a cub had dug into it without much thought about the work the hunters had put into to provide them with such. Now in this position however, he fully understood. It certainly took being in a certain job's pawsteps to appreciate what he once took for granted when judging from the outside.
"It takes a while." Iah agreed. "I let a prey get away from me because I was too hasty once; that was one of my first time hunting. I'm sure that if you trained though, you'd get the hang of it soon enough!"

"You can mess up being too speedy?"
That didn't make hunting sound any easier! Wambazi wasn't sure that she could actually pull it off, especially now that she seemed to have missed the best time to start training for it.
"It doesn't sound easy," she said doubtfully, considering how he said that she could catch on soon enough, "But my uncle is the head hunter, I'd have an easy time talking to him about it." That was how everything worked, wasn't it? Who you were related to and who you knew mattered? .. she needed to get out more.

"It's all about waiting for the right moment." Iah tried to soothe her, wondering if he had terrified her from hunting. It certainly wasn't easy once you started, but things were always like that when you were an amateur, right?
"That would certainly help." He agreed, bobbing his head. "And if you ever want company, you could always look me up? Uh... I'm not exactly the best hunter, but you know, since we already know each other and if you're shy..." Iah stopped, realizing he wasn't really sure of what he was saying. "Yeaaah, you can always look for me whenever you want." He finished lamely.
