I've been a vegetarian for about two years, but I still wear leather (with a "freetarian" mindset about that) and I use products that are probably tested on animals. I'm a bad veggie. sweatdrop

I realized about a week ago that I eat far too much cheese, and I wondered if that might be undoing the ecological benefit of not eating meat. I looked it up online and ended up learning about how awful dairy is, and, uh, yeah. I decided to avoid dairy, unless it's hidden in the ingredients of packaged food, and some milk in my tea until I can convince my mum to buy soymilk. But this morning I put milk in my tea and I kept thinking "I'm drinking pus and antibiotics!" so I might make a better almost-vegan then I thought. I'm giving up eggs as well, but I'm NOT a vegan because I can't really scrutinize ingredients labels when I'm not buying the food. (unsupportive parent, she would try to force me to eat MORE if she knew I wanted to stop eating eggs and dairy. That's what she did when I wanted to become vegetarian.) Also, I'm only trying to alter my diet right now.

Trying to give up animal products certainly seems like the next logical step, but now I have to decide whether to force myself to eat the cottage cheese left in my fridge (the thought makes me sick), or to throw it out and waste it.

Ha, I told my mum I'm suddenly lactose intolerant, and she believed it! Although I probably am anyway. I got brainwashed by the FDA, and never realized how weird it was that we drink the milk of another animal, even into adulthood. Screw the food pyramid.

I've always kind of thought about it like that, being lactose intolerant...
But that's pretty funny.
Anyway, good luck!

Now that you know the real deal... cottage cheese won't taste the same.
