I just watched Chicago for the umpteenth time, and I can't ever watch it without seeing the deleted song "Class", as well. For those of you who haven't seen the scene, or heard the song... I believe it loosely sums up our values. (As a note, if you haven't seen the movie, go ahead and watch the scene anyway. No spoilers.)
EDIT: Let's pretend I spelled stockings incorrectly as some kind of slur, shall we? ^^;

Loosely sums? My lady, this could very easily be the foundation of a Steampunk manifesto of some sort. We admire Victoriana because it represents the height of class and refinement, and transpose it upon the technological advancements we have become accustomed to in our life.

I say loosely because the song was so obviously written to be ironic. Sung by two course-tongued women lounging around in lingerie? The ideas they themselves were uttering would easily serve as a manifesto, but for the joke that the song serves as.
