Why didn't it update when I got the National Pokedex? Because there's so many classic "cute" Pokemon like Mewoth and Ninetails (If I had a Ninetails). Plus, how did they even come up with that list causes even without the National Pokedex they are missing a lot of Pokemon that have always been consider pretty cute canon and non-canon wise.
Its not that I use the Square much but its nice to collect some of the rare berries.

Amity Square is mainly only useful in Diamond/Pearl to collect berries and gather items for contests. However, it can also help you boost the happiness of the pokemon you have traveling with you. So I think it might be connected to that in some ways...though obviously, not all the allowed pokemon evolve with high happiness.
Also, I think it probably has something to do with the artwork. The pokemon that are allowed are usually the pokemon that appear as "dolls" elsewhere in the game, so it may have just been a way to save on development time and the game's available memory.
An interesting note, though: In Platinum, you can visit a guy in the park every day to get rare berries. I think his location changes, but if you go into the big rock ruins and either go up, left, or right, you'll eventually come out in different places and he'll be at one of them. He'll say somethinb about keeping the park clean and finding some things while he was cleaning, then he'll give them to you. whee It's just a little extra incentive to keep a cute pokemon with you!

Mdark, you've got diamond right?
then the list wont update, it only updates in platinum
and Dklepto is right that guy in platinum does give berries but his location changes daily, but thats to be expected since his handouts are rarer than normal
so when/if you get platinum be prepared okay

Thanks for the wonderful info you two. heart Yeah I always have a cute pokemon ready to battle. As I always have a pretty strong Pichu and Pikachu around.

hm. well, i have pearl. so i know how u feel. cute pokemon are always somewhere with me. usually a buneary or pachirisu or something, but i always have my chimchar/monferno/infernape. im REALLY mad. i got a FREE arceous, lvl 100, like 500 hp. i had started a new game, so i couldnt use it. i played for a while, but i got bored. i restarted, forgetting my once-in-a-lifetime free arceous and accidently losing it FOREVER!! TT'.'TT
moral: never restart. get a new copy. or whatever. just dont restart.
