Does anyone have tips on how to meet other writers in your city?
Me and a few long-time buddies have started writing together, but the 4 of us know absolutely NO writers, so it's hard to try and recruit for our crew or even find others to write with. It's a semi-large city, about 250K people.
So, does anyone have tips/suggestions on how to meet local writers?

I usually meet other writers cause I'm doing something graff related myself. One guy recognized me as I was doodling one of my characters (not one of my graff ones but the style is recognizable enough to see the connection). Last time I met another writer I was taking a pic of one of my stickers. These guys wandered down and were like "wtf are you taking a picture of that for." I was straight up honest lol, they didn't look like snitches. Turned out they wrote to. Just hang around spots that are constantly tagged, and your bound to run into em. Also look for the scared looking white boys who are constantly looking around with one hand on their marker in their pocket. Lol.
I have no real advice. I just run into people by chance mostly. It can be a dodgy business to go about.

izak1399 Also look for the scared looking white boys who are constantly looking around with one hand on their marker in their pocket. I can just look in the mirror for that. Lmfao. But yeah, I actually met up with an old friend who's a tagger now, and he knows a bunch of writers, they know some -- Goin' tagging with a few people tommorow, so I geuss it just took time, might be running with a decent crew soon enough too.

I try not to meet other writers, because i only write with one other kid. But the last time i met another writer is because he saw me write.

SOEP ONE It just happens... I know a lot of tattoo artists that write. Met a few at some events... Know a writer that knows a writer that knows a writer... lol. That's how it is... And thats how it should stay. It keeps having a "different side" easier to hold onto, and on the rare occasions you do meet another writer, you never dob them in. Thank god this scene isn't like facebook. XD
