The day was fading quickly, and Sukanya was just awakening in the tree she had been napping in, because of her dark colours, she had learnt that it was better to travel at night. Despite her vivid markings, she tended to blend in well with shadows. Yawning, she stretched carefully, latching her claws into the tree so she didn't slip off. Getting to her feet, she carefully dropped from the tree, bouncing off a few branches to soften the blow.
Landing on her feet, she stretched again, glancing around at the fading day. It was lonely travelling at night, but the female was use to it by now. She had been alone for a long while. She sighed lightly, and set off across the land, her paws making soft noises on the ground as she moved.

Linje gave his vibrant white fur one last lick before getting to his paws and yawning. His daily ritual was almost complete. After grooming himself to perfection, now it was time to find a tree to crawl into and rest until the same ritual began again the next day. Sometimes Linje found he was just boring himself, but he didn't want to change his ways any time soon. He meandered over toward the silhouette of a tree in the distance.
As the leopard got closer, he discovered a female had already inhabited the tree. He thought a moment about turning around and finding a separate tree... But instead, decided to grace the black leopard with his presence. After Sukanya leapt from the tree and began walking away, Linje announced his himself.
"Hello." He swept a paw over the white fur on his head, and stood proudly with his ears erect. Linje's voice was cool and reserved, like a noble, wealthy prince. "Gorgeous evening, isn't it?"

The leopardess startled at the sound of another voice behind her, causing her to spin around, her eyes wide and momentarily panicked. She took in the sight of the other leopard, a light coloured male that had burst of colour on his back. He seemed like a strong male but did not seem threatening, at least not yet. Why had he approached her, she wondered, eying him curiously
"Hello," she responded, because it would have been rude otherwise. Flicking her gaze up to the sky, a small smile light up her face at the falling evening. It was almost time for her to set out on her travels for the night, when it was dark enough that she could blend in completely. "The evenings are always beautiful," she said simply, glancing back at him, curiousity on her face.

"Indeed, they are... A bit skittish, are we?" Linje raised a brow, curling his tail around his paws after settling his rump in the dirt. He emitted a gentle pur to indicate he meant no harm. The leopard was careful not to soil his freshly groomed fur by having his tail hover just above the ground. Deep purple eyes flicked from the dark leopardess's head to her toes. Linje examined her meticulously, only to come to the conclusion that he was still superior. "Were you just leaving? It's dusk, have you no curfew?"

She tensed a little at his comment. He didn't seem aggressive, but that didn't mean he wasn't. She had had far too many run-ins with aggressive people to be fooled by a simple act. "I'm not skittish," she defended herself, her voice light and with a little touch of a huff added to it. She glanced back at the direction she had been intending to go, hesitating before admitting, "I prefer to travel at night. With my colouring it's safer and easier." Not only was she protected from the sun on her black coat but also she was less likely to run into people she would rather not interact with.

Noticing the female's tension, Linje frowned. Though, he didn't know how to relax her discomfort, he neither cared enough to do so. Putting so much energy into someone that wasn't himself was never quite worth it, anyway. "Try not to take offense, I'm only concerned that my presence does not ease you." Linje got to his paws, slowly heading towards the tree in a nonchalant fashion.
"Your tactics are understandable. Mine are quite opposite, but, I suppose, so are our coats." With a single and swift leap, Linje claimed a thick branch as his resting place for the night. "If you wish to leave, I can't stop you. However, you're welcome to stay in my company." He tilted his head, hardly caring which option she chose. "I ask, though, not to feel threatened. You've not wronged me, and I've not wronged you. As long as we keep it this way, we must be able to coexist peacefully." His expression was always aloof, composed. A smile wasn't to relieve his lips, at least not until one was earned.

Sukanya watched him curiously, her posture still tense. It was not the fact she thought he would attack her, it was just her way, though she didn't know for sure that he actually wouldn't attack her, but he seemed nice enough not to try, right? She hesitated and watched as he walked back towards the tree.
The female could have turned tail and run, leaving behind his company, but she hadn't spent time with another leopard in many, many moons. She was lonely, though she would never say it out loud. She followed him, standing near the base of the tree and glancing up at him. "Are you settling for the night?" she asked, awkwardly trying to make conversation, "since you would be safer traveling in the day." She wondered if she was disturbing him, by staying nearby as he was obliviously going to need sleep soon. Perhaps she should have gone?

Linje displayed a pleased grin. So predictable~ It was obvious the leopardess had approached him out of longing for his divine company. A silver claw idly carved away at the bark beneath his paws as he watched Sukanya with his eyes half-lidded.
"Yes, I am." His gentle voice conveyed his contented state. "I would invite you to stay for a while if you weren't in such a hurry to leave..." A brow rose, as well as a corner of his mouth. Just a tinge of humor could be detected from the leopard. It wasn't an invitation. Nor was it a request for her to leave. It was a test. If she were to leave now, the leopard would have no choice but to express his endless animosity towards her.

Sukanya was uncertain. Socialising was not a strong point of hers...and never had been, to be honest, so she didn't quite know what to do with herself. With people she knew and liked, and who liked her, she had no problem being sociable but he was a stranger, with strange habits, and a strange mind, and those uncertainties made her uneasy, but he seemed nice, for now.
She hesitated beneath the tree, before saying slowly, "I...don't have anywhere to be right this instant," she admitted carefully, keeping her gaze on his. Meeting his gaze might be awkward, but at least she could watch for any sudden or dangerous movements coming from him. As a single female, she had to be prepared for anything, including supposedly nice people going into random spurts of homicidal rage.
