After the mud incident, things seemed to go back to normal, just that Kairi was a little quieter than usual. It was harder than she thought to keep her purring to a minimum, much harder, especially since she just did it automatically whenever she was happy. And she was usually happy all the time. She felt like she was denying part of herself by keeping quiet like that, but for Samsara's comfort she did try. Curious, though, she wondered if it had been bothering him the whole time and he'd just been staying quiet about it to be polite. These were her thoughts as she finished her hunt. Zebra today. Sam was taking care of another task, a gods' work never being done and all. She was so caught up in her thoughts that really she hadn't even noticed the three rogues approaching until they were within calling range. She jerked her head up to look, and immediately grew nervous. Three, which meant that if they were after her kill she could really do nothing to stop them, and by the look of them they probably were. Instinctively, though, she growled, bristling up since their intentions seemed clear. "Well, well! How nice! This lovely little female just caught us our lunch, boys!"
"Seems like it!" called another rogue, smaller and obviously a lacky to the other two. Still, he was another set of teeth and claws to look out for, and out of the three rogues, he seemed the most upfront of them. He moved swifter than the other two, teeth bared, preparing for an attack. It didn't look like he was planning on giving Kairi much of a choice. Samsara was tired - it was true that gods didn't need to sleep, but still, rest was always very much appreciated, as was food. It kept them going when they had to use their powers often. He had been gone a full day, a night and part of the next day during his task, and he was utterly worn out, to the point that all he wanted to do was go to the den he and Kairi called home, eat something and posibly curl up to sleep for a whole day. That's what he would have done had he not spotted Kairi in the near distance, with company. At first, he'd pondered perhaps they were old friends, but when one of the lions in front of her moved forward agresively, the god glowered and used the last of his powers to attempt a teleportation, hoping to appear between Kairi and the rogues before any of them had the time to attack.
"Now now, sweetheart, don't be difficult. All we want is the food." "Why settle for the milk if you can have the cow too, idiot?" .... Well, CRAP. She didn't like the sound of that, and now she extended her claws too, baring her fangs and flattening her ears back against her head to accompany her growling. It wasn't likely to end well, she was tired from the hunt, and there were three of them. When the third male moved in towards her she hissed and moved to guard the kill. "BACK OFF!" She demanded, but it didn't seem to work at all. She felt a surge of fear sweep over her as the other two moved to charge as well, her heart jumping up into her throat, but then there was a "wall" of blue and green fur, in a form that she was very familiar with. "Samsara!" She sounded more than just a little relieved, but also worried, there were still three of them, after all. ((She's never seen him in action.)) The ring leader stopped, angry eyed, and snarled. "What the HELL?! Who-- what the hell are you?!"
He'd more or less used his last scraps of magical power by teleporting over there, directly in front of her. Had he been able to, he'd have cursed the three rogues on the spot, however, as it was, he was going to have to settled with just scaring them. While it was true he was facing three oponents, he was significantly larger, and when he spread both sets of wings, he creates an effective barrier, keeping Kairi entirely out of sight, "How DARE you!" he demanded with a roar, "My name is Samsara, and I am the keeper of Karma!" he stomped a foot in front of him, and while he had no magical power left... well, the rogues didn't quite know that. He grabbed whatever he could find from deep within him, but all he could conjure were illusions, minor ones at that. The power crackled around him in black tendrils, curling up his legs as he growled at them, "Be off now! Leave!" The smaller rogue whom had charged first stopped in his tracks, "Woa, man!" he pulled back to hide behind the other two and looked like he wasn't going to need more convincing, "I didn't sign up for this! We can probably find some other easier b***h!" and that said, the coward turned tail and fled.
Kairi could feel her heart pounding in her chest, letting Samsara take over the situation, and he handled it pretty damn well judging from the way that the rogues had changed stance so fast. "Oh, hell no. You've gotta be kidding me!" He had clearly never seen anything quite like Samsara, he wasn't about to chance it. "Let's get the **** out of here!" He growled, turning tail to do just that, the other right behind him.

As soon as the rogues were out of sight, the crackling stopped, and the god visibly drooped, his wings falling spread to his sides, "Thank heavens they fell for it, because I wouldn't have done much of anything magic-wise. And I don't think I would have lasted too long in a fight after having tired myself out the past two days. Good to know I still have it in me." He turned his head to look at Kairi behind him now that he'd folded his wings, "Are you quite alright, my dear? I'm sorry I didn't get here sooner - I wasn't... expecting company."
"Sam!" It was her first reaction when she saw him sag, rushing forward and to his side while being mindful not to step on his wings. She was glad they had fallen for it too... "I'm fine, are you alright? Do you need to eat?" Kairi needed no apology, certainly not for this. He had come, and he wasn't hurt, that was all that mattered. She couldn't help worrying now though, when he looked so tired.
"I would very much like to, yes. And possibly sleep afterward..." he let out a sigh dropping his head to caress hers a tad - it was an innocent movement, really, and he pulled away soon enough, "We don't normally require food or sleep, but I've been abusing my powers quite a bit lately - food and rest helps gather everyone's energy. I'm fine though, really." He was. Or would be as soon as he curled up and slept a bit, "Would you mind terribly helping me to the den?" a pause as he looked at the food, "Then again, we might as well goarge ourselves here, because I won't be able to drag that badk with us. Not today anyhow."
"You should eat it, I caught it for you anyway..." She knew that he might be coming back tired since he'd been gone so long, so she'd decided better safe than sorry. Given that she never knew if he was feeding himself while he was away. So, insistant, but gentle, she nudged her head against his in return, trying to urge him to go ahead and have at it, staying close, and keeping a weather eye out for those rogues.
"Oh, but do join me? Sure you don't expect me to eat a whole zebra? That's a bit much!" he narrowed his eyes as he looked off into the distance, almost as if to make sure they weren't any more surprises in the near distance. "Hmmmm...." a moment passed and he dropped to the ground, sinking his fangs into the kill. He ate silently till he filled himself and then pulled away - he'd even managed to maintain himself relatively clean of blood and gore, which was a miracle in it's own right, "We'll have to leave it here. Let the scavengers gorge themselves then, if you want none," he raised himself again and looked at her, "Would you mind escorting me then, young lady? I don't even think I remember where the den is."
Kairi would have eaten, really, if she wasn't so jittery still. She settled for watching him, trying to calm herself, but she didn't feel better, wouldn't feel better until they were back at the den. "Of course," She answered, moving to his side, slipping in under his wings to offer him what little bodily support she could, given she was so much smaller than he was. She looked up at him then. "Ready?"

"Yes," he nodded his consent and moved by her side, his normally elegant frame drooping a bit, now more move by the sleep that was beginning to catch up on him than anything else. His head usually held high, was lowered so that is stayed subconsciously beside hers as they moved. The moment they arrived to the den's mouth, the male let out a breath of relief and moved to enter. However, he paused and turned towards her, "Come to think about it, I'd feel a lot better if you went in first, and I used my frame as a bit of a barrier between the inside of the den and you."
They moved quietly to the den, and Kairi couldn't help but notice that he stayed close to her, if she weren't so distracted by other things she might have thought about it then and there, but later. Once at the entrance she looked at him in concern. "But-- You're still not at full strength..." True, she really couldn't do much, but she felt guilty anyway.
"Yes, well, I'd feel a lot better regardless..." this said, he made room for her to enter the den waiting for her to enter before following in after her. As soon as she was settled down, he noticed that, well, maybe this hadn't been such a good idea. The den was small, and... didn't really give for much wiggle room. It meant he was snuggled up to her, but at the same time, taking into account how tired he was, it didn't really matter all that much, "There, see? That's better," his words were a bit slurred by sleep and he lost no time lowering his head down to place it on the floor, more or less forming a cocoon around her. He'd think about being decent... later, when he recovered. Now, he just wanted her safe and he wanted to sleep. That was all.
She moved in ahead first then at his reassurance, settling to rest on the floor and finding that the cold stone soothed her nerves at least a little. It wasn't until She felt... MUCH better when he joined her though, and suddenly, wrapped up in his warmth it really felt like everything from before, their spat, the rogues, her worries, it was all silly. She settled her head next to his, and once she knew he was asleep she smiled, purring almost silently as her eyes slid shut too. She felt safe and wanted, that was all that she needed to get some rest as well.
