Allow me to correct myself and explain.

Know how when one first begins changing their eating habits and exercises, the first five pounds are shed pretty easily?

I once weighed in at 165 pounds, but dipped down to 136 this last September; I know I have gained back a little/some, but I don't know exactly as there is no scale.

I should be switching into a physical education course at my college that gives me free reign of all the gym and its equipment; do you figure that I will become fit a little more fast now that I have ended up taking a break from fitness?

That first few easy pounds are from shedding the excess water your body's holding on to. It's not "real" weight in that it's not fat, and you're not getting a whole lot fitter from losing the water.

Keep in mind that when you were 165lb, losing 5lb was only 3% of your body weight. Let's say you're now 140lb. 5lb is now 3.6% of your body weight. It'll be tougher to shed it since it's so much more of your current weight. A healthy rate of weight loss is around 1% per week, so you should really be aiming for 1-1.5lb/week.
