It had started, of course, with Elke getting ready to go out on patrol. She got out of the shower, as she did every night, brushed her hair as she did every night, and pulled out her henshin pen--as she did every night. It was when the flashing lights had faded that she caught the wistful look on Serenade's face, and got the question--Are you going out alone?
Now, Virgo was normally very good at listening to the commands of the Captain. This was because Virgo lived in religious terror of Hero Barrett (five weeks of being told to go for the eyes tended to do that to you). Seeing that look on her Princess's face, though, tore at the Zodiac in ways she didn't care to describe. That led her to ask, timidly, "Do you want to come along, Princess?"
From there, it had been simple; the two of them mostly patrolled together before Hero had said no. Down the brick side of the building, out to the fence and over. Elementary senshi escape tactics, really, the two of them were half a mile out from Crystal in a manner of minutes, and from there they'd slowed down, walking down one of the main commercial streets of Destiny City. It wasn't dark (a necessity, as Virgo was a little bit afraid of the dark, though she'd never admit it) because of the lights from the window displays.
In fact, it seemed to be a pretty quiet night. They hadn't run into any youma or negaversers or anything at all. Which Virgo was okay with, really; she could protect the Princess, but only for a minute, and not long enough to get far enough away for it to matter...
"So I said to her, 'It doesn't matter if you were there first, I was assigned to this seat and this is where I'm sitting'," said Virgo, hands splayed out as she told the story of her first science class after finally testing back into the sophomore-level course. "Because that was what the teacher told me to do, you know? That Miss Ellis teacher assistant lady looks scary, don't you think? I wish there was someone I knew in class, it's really lonely. And I'm really bad at taking notes." She giggled, smiling brightly at her Princess.

Serenade too, knew how intimidating Hero was, for how many times in Barren Pines had Hero blasted her top off whenever she sneaked out in hopes to find and awaken the other Zodiacs? She understood why Hero said, 'No more patrolling, youma are getting too strong' and the need to protect her, after what had happened the last time. It was still sad though, to see Elke go out, night after night to patrol, and to add to the worry, she was doing it alone!
She had reassured both Elke and herself that they would be fine; if she ever sensed that Aries was nearby, they would just flee in the opposite direction. They wouldn't get caught. They couldn't get caught, really. She didn't want to sit down and listen to another one of Hero's lectures and drag Elke down with her in the process. Aries would not be very forgiving to Virgo if she knew the latter had approved of their princess going out and facing the dangers that lurked in the corners of Destiny City.
"Is it hard to stay awake in class because of your patrolling?" Sailor Chronos asked, brows furrowed. Yet another to add to the worry pile, whether or not the Zodiacs could cope with patrolling at night and having classes in the day.

After doing two different patrols in his 'area', Castor was ready to call it a night. His patrol had uncovered nothing, and frankly, while it was a good thing, it was boring as all hell. At least until two very different senshi showed up on the scene. "Normally, this is the part where I ask you lovely ladies your names and numbers, but, then again, I also ask what your powers are. But that is what I do normally." Jumping from his rooftop perch, the senshi landed in front of the duo. "But, you don't look like normal senshi. You a type of super senshi?"
Castor was circling them, looking akin to a shark.
A perverted male shark in the form of a fellow senshi.

She looked at her princess quizzically. "Sometimes," said Virgo, because you didn't lie to your princess. It seemed kind of counterproductive, keeping the Princess in the dark. "I guess it's hard in the morning, but after lunch I'm okay... as long as I don't have to do stuff during lunch. See, if you eat fruit and bread and also maybe a sandwich, you wake right up! Also, a long time ago somebody told me that eating right helped you form muscle, which is important, right?" This someone had been Prince Eon. Virgo would have named him, but she had in fact heard the princess crying over him, and. Well. You didn't make your princess cry. That was also counterproductive.
In the midst of taking a deep breath before going on to talk about something else, another senshi (in blue, with pants) jumped down in front of them. Virgo's breath and carefully planned conversation about a book she was reading went instead to a panicked question: "Oh my gosh please don't tell the Captain, she'd yell at--" She had pulled up her fists and placed herself between the boy senshi and Chronos, green eyes huge in her face.
He wasn't a Zodiac. Or anyone she knew at all. Maybe this senshi wouldn't know the captain--it was doubtful he knew the Captain. "I'm Sailor Virgo," she said finally, "and this is Princess Chronos." The tone of her voice suggested that if the boy senshi tried to call her Princess anything other than Princess Chronos, she would punch him. And maybe she would, considering the way she stared at him--paranoid. Frightened. "We're Zodiac senshi."

Chronos sighed and petted Virgo on the back with her free hand, that is, the hand that wasn't carrying her staff. She really did feel bad if Elke and the rest had trouble being normal because of being a Zodiac, and hey, Ally had wanted them all to lead normal lives and be happy, right? It was also probably this thought that made her chin up and face things much more seriously. It was ironic to remember that she once thought that senshi were just frivolous gossip material. "Staying healthy is good." She agreed. Ally had been a nurse, so he had always taught her how to be healthy.
Cerise eyes widened as the male senshi landed right in front of them and Chronos took a cautious step backwards, though peeked out from behind Virgo to look curiously at him. Perhaps, luckily for Castor, Chronos wasn't one to understand flirtation attempts of others, and thought that he probably mentioned the whole 'names and numbers' thing because he wanted to broaden his senshi network. Which was a good thing, right? Senshi needed to work together! "And you are?" She asked after Virgo had introduced them both.

Whistling, Castor stopped after he'd finish his first 'round' of circling. "Princess? Well, M'lady, I am Super Sailor Castor, senshi of hail. Dunno about any Zodiac stuff but," he winked to Chronos, "I'd be more then happy to be your knight in shinning armor. The offer is of course, extended to you as well Lady Virgo. Tell me, does the name match the description?" The vague reference to virgo being known as the virgin was very crass, even for him.
But, then again, Castor hadn't seen any action, senshi, negaverse or...otherwise in a long time. And Lina did say he could go after his fellow scouts. (Okay that was a bit of a lie, but, he just couldn't help it! He was a flirt!) "So, ladies, seen any action lately? Was looking for a bit myself." The bit about a captain did strike him as odd however. "As for your captain..I won't tell if you don't." Wink wink.
He was so smooth, that Castor. Smooth and crass like an a**.

"It's nice to meet you, Sailor Castor," said Virgo, putting her hands down at her sides again, though she stayed between Chronos and the strange boy senshi. Was he a Super Sailor because he had pants? Poor Atlas had, like, mini shorts. Poor Atlas... "Can I call you Cas?"
The offer to be a knight in shining armor for the princess ruffled Virgo's feathers; she frowned a little bit. Of course the Princess didn't want anyone to replace the Guard. Castor said that he didn't know anything about the Zodiac; it was possible he really didn't, and didn't know that there was a whole Guard for the Princess already. "...You can just call me Virgo, if you want, I mean I can't think of any nicknames for it, can you, Princess?" She smiled over her shoulder.
His reference went unnoticed. Virgo's stare was completely innocent as she tapped her lower lip. "We haven't seen any youma at all tonight," she said, "we were about to head home. I'm sorry we can't be of more help!"

So he was one of the few Super Senshi Astraea mentioned that had managed to 'struggle' to that status. Chronos' curiosity was heightened but she did not step forward, but only fixed Castor with a stare, as if attempting to assess him from his looks. She had no idea of knowing which category of Super Senshi he fell into, as per Astraea's report to her, and therefore decided to ask. "Astraea's told me about you. There aren't much Super Senshi about, I hear." The knight in shining armor comment was dismissed; the only knight Chronos would have was Eon himself and no one else.
"I'm not supposed to be out, you see." She pointed out gently, hoping he would understand. "The Captain's worried that I may get hurt out here, what with the youma being bigger and stronger than they were a year ago." It was funny to think that they had been senshi for so long, really.

Astraea? God, never a name he liked to hear. "I would hope she said something good about me at least. So far I've not seen any other supers. Didn't even know there were others." It was true, he didn't. He just assumed somebody was, as some had been doing the senshi gig long before him. "As for the name of Cas? Uh...to be perfectly honest, Castor would be preferred. Cas sounds like a**. Which I am not." Said the a**. "Virgo and the Princess. Ladies." There was an odd leery tone to the word 'ladies'.
"If you would like, I can escort you back to your home? Never hurts to have a bit of extra-" what was a good word for it? "Muscle when youma are running about. In the meantime, you could tell me a bit more about yourselves. Like if Virgo is as her name suggests." A wink. He hoped she got the hint.

Puzzling over this guy seemed to lead nowhere. He was a super sailor, so he had to be more responsible and experienced than your average sailor. But he was acting kind of funny. Like Andeon, when he was asking Giselle to play Petrova-in-Andeon's-pants. That was not a good thing, it was not a good thing at all. Still, he was a Super Senshi, so she should at least give him a go. Captain wanted them to make contact with Moon senshi after all.
Virgo nodded. "Okay, Castor," she said, her smile bright. "That would be nice, actually." But she kept herself between the Princess and Castor all the same as they walked--
She got it. "Ohmygosh." Her gloved hands snapped up over her lower face; she was mortified, which was answer enough. "Ohmygosh."

Chronos thought everyone on the senshi side was nice. This included those that others did not usually think fell under the category of nice. Astraea, Zue, and now Castor... the Princess was very very horrible at judging people. Or probably just overlooked the flaws everyone liked to see.
"Well, she is a Virgo." Princess Chronos replied, looking quite puzzled when Virgo looked rather mortified at what Castor was suggesting.
Chronos was also pretty horrible at getting what people meant; if you didn't spell it out properly for her, she would take what you said quite literally.

She got it. Finally. The princess...still in the dark. Oh well, can't mortify them all. Still, Virgo's face made him laugh a bit. "She's a virgo for now. Might just have to keep an eye on her, after all, a few less then upstanding characters might be lurking about." Like him. "After all, virgos are indeed, the most desired." If the princess didn't get it now, he was going to laugh more then he already was.
"So, aside from me teasing your friend. I've never heard of an Princess. Well, Astraea mentioned one, but, eh." He wasn't even sure what that meant. "Forgive me if I had no idea that we senshi had royalty. Real royalty that is. Do I need to bow and address you as M'lady?"

"Princess," Virgo squeaked, mortified. Mortified was a good way to describe her right now; her eyes were huge and all the color was gone from her face, except for a bright red blush that was threatening to spread to her collarbone. Why would he ask that? It didn't impinge on her powers.
Did it?
If being a v-virgin made her Virgo, and not being one would make her not a virgo, oh my gosh she could never have sex ever or she would lose her powers. And then she'd never, ever be able to protect the princess!
Instead of "mortified," "panicked" is probably the best description--
"Your Princess," she said, hands over her cheeks, "is the Moon Princess, Serenity. She is the center of your court like Princess Chronos is the center of mine." Virgo smiled at the Princess, clearly trying to forget or ignore Castor's comment.

Chronos honestly did not understand why Virgo seemed so embarrassed by all this, and merely wrapped an arm around the other's shoulders in a comforting manner. "She'll always be a virgo." She said, her tone going from just puzzled to extremely puzzled. How could you change the horoscope you were born under? Boys liked girls that were Virgos? That was very very peculiar. Why would people care about horoscopes if they were in love?
"I'm the Princess of the Zodiacs." She said with a nod. "Not your Princess. The Princess you should be looking for is my cousin, Princess Serenity." Chronos did hope that they would find Serenity soon.

She was either VERY innocent, VERY sheltered, or just plain oblivious. This was Castor's final assessment of Chronos. But, Virgo...well, at least she seemed flustered. Wrapping an arm around the Zodaic senshi's waist, (she was so tiny!), he smiled. He didn't say anything, he just smiled. Wait, no, he was going to say something only into poor Virgo's ear. "Always is a long time, care to speed up the process?"
ANYWAY, back to Chronos. "Serenity? Astraea has mentioned her before. Cursing mostly. It sounds...familiar, but not." So many damn questions. Ugh. "but..Zodiacs? I think..I ran into Gemini? Kind of odd."
