Fallon could think it was weird all she liked, Imogen liked Sue and if she hadn't before, well, it'd been her loss at Barren pines (though there she'd been on the 95% of people Sue didn't care for!). It was not that she liked him like that before anyone's mind goes there. She did however count him as one of her good friends in Destiny City and not just because she didn't really have many others thanks to moving here then being stuck in the school-that-wasn't. Imo didn't know exactly why but hey, she trusted her instincts when it came to people. Sue was someone to keep in touch with.

Which was why soon as she'd got everything straightened out in her life somewhat, she dug out his number on it's signed bit of paper. After programming it into her new phone she'd rung him up to see if she could meet up with him sometime. Whether Sue'd been as happy to hear from her as she'd been to get in touch with him Imo didn't know. But was certainly good to be waiting at around the half-way mark between her house (she only boarded at Crystal during the week) and where he lived for him.

Sue still wasn't sure himself what it was about Imogen that made him so... socially enabled. Most people who called him up on the phone, he didn't care to meet - not saying that a lot of people called him in the first place, but his reaction was typically uninterested. When it was Imogen, though, he instantly found himself making himself available. Maybe it was because they were both from that school - or because Imogen had been the one to be there right after, when all the trauma was bleeding off and he'd needed someone to relate to. Whatever it was though, when she'd asked to meet up, he didn't dodge it - he said yes and asked when, and that was enough.

Sue arrived at the appointed meeting spot fairly quickly - he'd left his room at the motel at just the right time to catch the bus, lucky for him. It pulled up across the street from where Imogen was waiting, and when it departed again, there Sue was, waving away exhaust fumes and glancing around. When he caught sight of Imogen across the street, he waved a hand to greet her and quickly jogged across.

"Hey," he greeted her, not quite smiling, not quite frowning. "How's it?"

Once she'd spotted him, Imogen's smile as she waved back was as obvious as always - her healing palm probably less obvious due to the motion.

Okay so maybe Fallon was right that it was a bit weird how seeing Sue made her feel this...safe besides the usual yay-friend-! gladness. Perhaps it was because she knew that he knew more than she did about the half-year she didn't remember. Though again there she trusted his word that there was a fire absolutely, even when there was no evidence at the mental asylum there'd been any fire at all (nor any evidence of their dorms or classes but she'd been too focused on senshi-theories to try to figure that one out). She had her shiny new phobia of fire to back up what he'd said but again that was just some sort of random instinct. Ah well. Trusting the odd jumble of emotions was what Imo did best.

"It's been...different. Chock-full of weirdness." She actually sort of half closed her eyes when she was feeling sort of sheepish. The girl over-emoted like there was no mañana. "How's it with you?"

"Same." And that was an understatement of great proportions. If only Imogen were clued in; what would she think if she knew about Sue's other half, the one that had whiskers? Every friendship he had, outside of the Zodiacs, was a little deceptive now. It didn't sit particularly well with him, but it was a discomfort he'd have to swallow down.

Better not to dwell on it. "School's just gotten started at Meadowview," he commented, simply for the sake of moving the topic of conversation forward. "How about for you?"

"Crystal is okay so far. School's school but made a couple of friends." Imo shrugged and started to walk, expecting Sue'd walk with her. They hadn't really arranged to go anywhere in particular but there was plenty around here to do and she was pretty flexible about plans. Imo could have launched into describing her new friends at her school or started talking about how she was thinking of getting a job because her scholarship only supplemented so much or inquired after Sue's school or the cats...but given her thoughts on the BP fire it didn't take long for her recent encounter with the fire-imp on this very block to come to mind. If they took a left at the next corner there was a strip of tarmac that'd been melted.

"Does your weirdness feature youma-monsters and senshi? Because if not, my weirdness beats your weirdness." she joked.

Sue didn't usually lie; not on the things that mattered. He'd tease people, sure. He'd bluff them right into oblivion if they were being stupid enough to deserve it. But when someone brought up a word like youma in casual conversation, let alone senshi, matters suddenly became serious. Too serious to lie about - too serious to tell the truth.

There were a few seconds of silence as Sue processed all this. If Imogen was getting mixed up with those things for some reason, she had one foot in the grave already. But why....

"What happened?" he asked at last, his voice softened. No mention of his own weirdness, of course - that would just be stupid.

"You don't seem thrilled..." Nice as soft-voiced Sue was (really) Imo could tell that he was all serious and worried. Should have known he wouldn't be the type to laugh about it with or who'd ask what the senshi was like before moving on to his own stories. Imo wasn't sure what she intended telling Sue. Maybe she'd not really been thinking or maybe it was that weird trustworthiness.

"What happened which time? Even being extra careful about walking home alone I've run into these things more than my fair share. Most people have maybe one story about all this stuff. I have four seperate stories and the new scars and healing burns to prove it. I even killed a monster with a stick so it couldn't bite a senshi's face off." She sounded less jovial, less I'm-gonna-top-your-interesting-back-to-school-story, more confiding. Yeah she'd already told Aggie and Fallon but with them she'd glammed up the encounters rather than just told them.

F.... FOUR TIMES?!!!

Sue didn't know whether to be astonished or terrified. His face went sheet-white right quick, that was for sure. He hadn't even run into more than two, and he was at least somewhat equipped to handle those bastards! Was it really getting so bad, or was Imogen's luck just that terrible?

He was probably meant to be sympathetic now. Worried. Anxious. And on some level, he was; it was just that those healthy and expected feelings weren't the ones to find voice.

"Are you -- are you ******** looking for them or something?" he managed at last, sounding oddly furious. "Good God, Imogen! Don't get involved with those ********, you'll get yourself killed!"

"Again with the even being extra careful." She winced. On the one hand, he seemed kind of pissed. On the other Sue was taking it seriously. Even if he was pissed with her it was nice having it taken seriously. Way to not tell fun and amusing anecdotes Imo! Though in her defense there had been laughter when she'd first told Aggie about the Tooth-Fairy.

"It's why I didn't want to meet somewhere else. I know this part of town better and it'll be easier to run away if I know where I'm going." She was so not going to add her other reason for favouring this bit of town. Both Gemini Beta (...sigh) and Vanadis had cropped up in this part of town. More senshi, more help should something happen and she was unable to run. Running was the best course of action and fighting a last resort.

"And I'm not looking for them, they're just everywhere. Haven't you seen any Sue? As I said seems everyone's seen at least one or knows someone who has. This girl in my maths class was just saying yesterday she saw a slime monster in the park grab a jogger." Imo bit her lip. If her youma-encounters were the standard? Probably one dead jogger.

Everyone she knew.... God. It really was that bad? Before Barren Pines, it had all just been newspapers. Terrorists, even, not monsters. Now....

Sue didn't seem to feel much better for having heard that, but he did calm down somewhat. "... One or two, yeah," he mumbled, loathe to admit anything. "********, though, really. What about your folks? Did you ever tell them about any of it?"

"If I told her about monsters she'd never let me out. After killing the Tooth-Fairy I needed stitches so I had to tell my mother, but she just thinks that I fell. And these burns are from being careless in the kitchen." She held up her hands, the palms of which were still oddly pink and sort of shiny where they'd been burnt. Imo hated lying to her mother but it kept her free from being stuck inside with her grandmother 24-7.

"Did you see any Senshi?" At that Imo did perk up a bit. "Not that I'm looking for them either or becoming a groupie who reads all the news reports and stalks them with cameras but...I don't think they're anywhere near as bad as the people say."

The subject was moving on. Sue did not want the subject to move on; he wanted to battle it out over how and why Imogen kept getting into trouble. But the more that he talked about those things, the more suspicious he himself must seem. Was this just supposed to be the way things were now? Finding out his friends were constantly walking in and out of danger, being able to do nothing about it?

It seemed that way. And for the moment, he'd have to accept it. When he had time to sort out his thoughts later, maybe he'd think of something better- until then....

"I uh. A couple, yeah," he answered after a few awkward moments. "They don't seem so bad...."

Not exactly a stellar recommendation for the senshi from Sue, but what could he say? Oh yeah, they're all idiots, but they're decent folk - I oughta know, I'm on their team! That wasn't going to work out. Better to be deliberately vague and uncertain, and hope that the conversation didn't tread any closer to the subject.

Imo was too busy breezing onto the next subject, related though it was, to pick up Sue might want to talk about the monsters some more.

"Did you get any names or too busy staying out of trouble? I've got this theory about zodiacs. I met a Gemini and Fall a Virgo."

Really interesting. What if Sailor Badass had been a Taurus or a Cancer or something and she'd just been too pissed at Imogen calling her Badass to say? Imo knew there were non-zodiac named senshi running about. Vanadis was one for a start. But the idea of zodiac-names had gripped her imagination. Besides she'd feel safer if there were twelve of them running about killing the youma-monsters.

".... Are you, like." Sue stopped in mid-sentence, considering his next words very, very carefully. Such subjects as were in his mind had to be handled with care, lest they cause offense....

Then again, since when did something silly like that keep him from saying what was one his mind?

"A fangirl?" he concluded at last, eying his companion a bit warily.

"Not really? I don't think so. Besides my zodiac theory I generally avoid this. The fangirls are the ones who go out, look for the weirdness and try to photograph them." Like it'd work. She'd been flirting with Gemini a good while after that first battle and she'd still not been able to work out if her hair had been red, black or brown. Imo frowned and kicked a rock as she walked. God that bugged her.

"I don't know...it's like I was just getting my life together from Barren Pines and then I got attacked by monsters repeatedly and saved by a magic girl in a short skirt. So I'm not a fangirl, it's just a bit overwhelming, kind of the big distraction at the moment. Not quite used to it yet is all."
