About me:

Preferred Art Examples:

Characters:

Character Name
Name: Shun Kuroda
Age: 22
Race: Human
Height: 5'9"
Body Type: Athletic
Face Type: normal?
Complexion: Light olive tone
Eye color: Dark brown/black
Eye type: Narrowed
Hair color: Black
Hair Style: Before he lost the eye, his hair was roughly shoulder-length and pretty messy. It's normally lightly spiked up now. Relatively short hair he has.
Special Markings / features: Nothing really
Physical Flaws: He has numerous scars around his body, some concentrated around his arms. Also he recently lost his left eye.
Weakness(es):

-Lydexia:
He's dyslexic. So reading can be confusing and or frustrating for him. This can be a problem if sent important notes about jobs or other things in general.

-Lightweight:
Shun can't drink much without getting drunk. And when he gets drunk... he's pretty plastered. Not really a good thing to be when trying to kill someone.

-What is trust?:
Highly distrusting of others with exceptions of two people. Earning his trust is definitely a feat.

-Blunt:
Generally speaking, he doesn't care if you think he's rude. Unless he feels it'd end up badly on his part or -really- feels obliged otherwise, he's probably not going to come off as being too nice.

-Grudge bearer:
Do something against him and he -will- remember it. And most likely, depending on how badly you offended him, he'll try to do something back.

Strengths:
-Works in the dark:
He does pretty well working in darkness. He's generally able to move silently and with the help of magic he can even see in the dimmest settings.

-Favor for favor:
Even if he doesn't trust you, if you do something good for him, he's fairly likely to return the favor in some shape or form. There are limits to this depending on how much he dislikes you.

-Horsemanship:
While not so much of a people person, he doesn't mind animals all that much. He's a pretty good rider, and he takes care of his faithful black stallion, Ryuujin.

General Demeanor: Moody; loner
Hobbies: Playing a guitar-like instrument... not that he really has any time to do it.
Career: Assassin
Weapon of choice: Twin daggers, though he often carries around an abundant supply of darts and small throwing blades.
Magical Abilities: Dark magic; A majority of spells in his repertoire require blood to be used as a catalyst... usually his own. So unless he happens to already be bleeding for whatever reason, he's fairly reluctant to use these spells.

A number of things he's able to do with this is... short range teleportation, creating an area of pitch blackness, healing (more blood he loses for this, the greater the healing power... possibly rarest spell he uses especially since it doesn't work on himself), and a sort of self beserker/buff type thingy. The only spell he knows that doesn't require blood is one that allows him to see in the dark.

Colors of choice: Black and gold.
Clothing style: Normally found in dark leather armor of sorts, with a dark brown or black cloak over it. On his head is a simple cloth headband, as well as an eyepatch over his left eye. Typically, his arms are fairly bare with the exception of a leather bracer over his right wrist/forearm. When working, he has a tendency to wear a mask over his lower face as well.

History: In short; Shun spent most of his childhood living with his mentor and best friend, who were both rat-people. There was another that trained with them, another human, but Shun and the others were eventually betrayed by the guy.

Recently his master had fallen gravely ill, causing him to drop his duties to go and visit. While he was there, conflict arose as the traitor from the past returned to try and finished what he attempted years ago. Though the traitor was killed, the master's life was lost.. as well as Shun's left eye. Detailed story on this part here

Music to Work By:

Ain't no rest for the wicked - Cage the Elephant
Oh no you didn't - Mercs 2 song
Path - Apocalyptica
Search and Destroy - 30 Seconds to Mars

Relationships:
Suto - The man who hired him... not to kill the group but to kidnap them. Not exactly the usual job for Shun. He doesn't exactly like what goes on in Suto's lab, or even really like the guy all that much. But as an Assassin (or a hired kidnapper in this case), he feels it isn't his place to judge. He's getting paid after all.

Blade - Hates the guy. He messed up an assassination attempt in the past so now Shun is still holding a grudge about that.

Poke - He knows her best in the group, having successfully taken her to Suto's lab. For the most part, he just sees her as a part of his job and was keeping her with him after she escaped the labs as a means to locate the rest of the group. Having fought along side her several times (like against a town infested with zombies), and saved once or twice, he does have some respect for her.

Neko - Met him when the guy was drunk. Neko annoyed Shun enough that he decided to try and kill the guy instead of taking him in... so he poisoned his next drink.

Supported Pairings:
Shun doesn't like anyone. I'm pretty certain they don't like him either. XD

Sometime after leaving Poke virtually in the middle of nowhere, Shun found himself standing before an old and worn down building. Being fairly late at night upon his arrival, he didn't see anyone around outside, and the lights were off from what he could tell. Quietly, he dismounted his horse and led him to the small stable nearby.

Once the horse was all set, he went on and entered the building, looking around for anyone that was home. For the most part, the entire place was dark, though he soon noticed a small glow of light coming from one of the rooms. Making his way over there, he opened the door, finding two familiar faces within.

"There ye are, Shun! I was startin' t'get worried ye wouldn't show up," greeted one of the two rats. Beside him, was another who seemed to be sleeping on the bed.

"This probably isn't something I should be ignoring.. but I can't stay long Bent-tail."

"Understandable. But Master Half-ear will be happy t'see ya.. once 'e wakes up 'n all. 'E's been in pretty bad shape. T'doctors 'round 'ere weren't able t'do anythin fur 'im. Dunno how much longer 'e's got really..." he replied with a rather worried look.

He wasn't the only one either, as the human frowned at this news. Then again... Half-ear was getting rather old so maybe it was around his time to go. It was inevitable really. But it didn't mean Shun enjoyed the thought. Despite having dealt as much death as he did, the idea of his mentor passing on was troubling.

"Best make him comfortable then, right?" he said with a touch of bitterness.

"Shun.. is that you?" whispered the ill rat-man. Though his head was turned towards the human, his white eyes were as sightless as ever. Not that being blind had ever stopped the old rat from doing anything.

Quietly, Shun bowed down on on knee near the bedside and replied, "Yes Master.. it is."

"Bent-tail... would you mind leaving the room for awhile? There are things I must speak to Shun about.."

Over the next day or so, Half-ear's health did not improve. Shun and Bent-tail worked on easing the old rat's pain and discomfort to the best of their abilities. All the while, the words of his master burned in the back of the assassin's mind. But the illness would soon prove to be the least of their worries. Later at night, several visitors had shown up. Bent-tail had gone to meet with them and see what they wanted, though Shun soon showed up when he heard sounds of confrontation coming from the main area.

The lighting was dim, but he saw about five men, crowding around the younger rat, who was now brandishing his weapon and swinging it in small arcs to try and keep the offenders at bay. Being inside restricted his ability to wield his kusarigama, but he had to make due with what he had. Quickly, Shun grabbed one of his throwing blades and flung one at the nearest attacker. Though the guy did go down, they had four more to deal with.

"Oh so you're here too! Well this makes things easier for me," spat the one who seemed to be leading the group. In the low light setting, it took the assassin a few moments to recognize the man. And once he did, he was rather shocked.

"What? Surprised to see me? Just shows how much of a pisspoor assassin you are for failing to kill me off for good."

"What the hell are you doing here Damon?" he growled in response as he drew out his twin daggers.

"A little birdy told me of the little ailment our Master was having. Just thought I'd drop by. May as well finish some business between old friends and all right!" As he finished speaking, Damon charged straight for Shun, who just barely was able to parry the strike.

The two fought one another, more or less as equals. They had managed small nicks here and there, but neither was able to land a devastating blow on the other just yet. And while they battled, Bent-Tail was doing what he could against the others. It was tiresome, but he was able to hold his own in the least. He even managed to kill one of them fairly early on. But at some point in time, he had lost track of where one of the men had gone during the fray until..

"DAMON! I got the old one!" shouted one of the men triumphantly. Both Shun and Bent-tail glanced to the side. To the horror of them both they saw the guy standing there with Half-ear's head. Damon gave a rather wicked grin and took advantage of the moment to strike at his enemy. The assassin had caught the movement from the corner of his eyes and reacted accordingly, but it wasn't enough to avoid the blows.

The first blade had cut into his shoulder, as the second had slashed him across the face. Crying out in pain, he staggered back and clutched the left side of his face. Out of desperation, he quickly murmured the incantation to cause him to teleport away. He only ended up about 15 feet away from his original location this time around, but it was enough to avoid being run through by Damon.

"Damn you..." he growled as he tried to regather himself. His eye was hurting like hell. Between that and the thing he had witnessed moments before, a sort of rage was starting to build up within him. Seeing Damon rushing at him again, he gritted his teeth and dashed forth to meet with him. Blow after blow he came after the other man, until finally he felt the opposing dagger sink deeply into his side. For that moment, Damon thought that he had won, and was about to cry out in victory.. only to have a blade slice across his throat to silence him.

Still, Shun was in rather bad shape at that point, having lost a fair amount of blood and wounded pretty badly. As a result, he collapsed soon after he had delivered that final blow.

Sometime later, Shun awoke, feeling rather sore all around. Not too far away, he saw Bent-Tail, looking a weary and bandaged up, tending to something. Hearing the human stir, he turned around and let out a sigh of relief.

"Whew... thought ye might be a goner... Did wot I could t'eal ya but I ne'er was really all dat good with magic ye know?" he said with a weak smile as he approached, "I kinda managed t'get ye patched up alright... but... your eye got real messed up.. it had to come out..."

That didn't sit too well with him to say the least. Groaning, he gingerly pushed himself up and placed a hand over the bandages on his face. He supposed he should be grateful that he still had one good eye, but over all he was in a rather foul mood.

"Well that's just some nice topping on this shitty cake of a night," he grumbled. He didn't know if it was still night or not, but it didn't really matter. From the sounds of things, Bent-tail was able to take care of the remaining two men after he went down.

Once the two had recovered enough to do so, they went and buried the body of their master. It was a solemn moment that went with few to little words. Shun remained there a little longer, at least until his wounds had healed enough for travel All this time, he kept Half-ear's words in mind. The old rat had asked of him of something as a sort of dying wish, but he really wasn't too certain if he'd be able to carry it out. With these thoughts in mind, he went ahead and set back out to continue where he had left off.
