JEEZ.
Background info:
I'm on state math team. You guys have heard me complain enough about it.
Math team wakes me every day an hour earlier and assigns homework every single freaking day. And it's hard math homework. Long, too. For someone who doesn't like math team and is also the stupidest of the lot there, I'd say that I put up enough with it. [/unimportant rant]
ARML is another type of math competition sort of thing that's similar to state math team. It's... like extracurricular math for the extracurricular math team, if that makes any sense. I've never tried out for it, and I never will. Its problems are likely to be harder than math team's. Naturally, all the supersmart math nerds go out for this sort of thing.
[/end background info]
There is this guy on math team, and EVERY SINGLE TIME he sees me, he comes up to me:
Him: So. Are you doing ARML? Ivy: No. Him: Oh. I am. So is [Supersmart Kid 1] and [Supersmart Kid 2]. Ivy: Okayyyyy. Him: Why aren't you doing it? Ivy: I don't want to. Him: Why not? It's fun. [I will never understand people who do that stuff for fun.] Ivy: Uh, no. Not for me. Maybe for you. Him: But it's practically required of math team people! You have to be smart to get onto math team. And only people who are smart go to ARML. [Not sure if I phrased his convoluted logic correctly. Wasn't paying much attention.] Ivy: Uhhh, I fail epically at math team, in case you haven't noticed. I'm really stupid. Him: [/mumbles something indistinguishable] You should join ARML! Ivy: No. I have enough of math every day. There's math team before school, math class during school, and sometimes math extra credit after school. That's not enough math for you? Him: No. You should join. It's required for math team people! Ivy: No, it's not. It's optional. Him: But that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it! [/class bell finally rings and he goes back to his seat]
Repeat conversation 3 times a day burning_eyes

Anyway, just stay firm in not wanting to join. He'll never understand you. neutral
