Small ripples could be seen at the top of a pond that hadn't frozen over during the winter. A few bubbles appeared in random places and then a white head popped out of the water, squeaking and shaking her head about as she opened black and red eyes. Velvet couldn't remember the last time she had so much fun swimming! Her winter coat kept her from freezing in the water and it was fun chasing the fish around.
Swimming to the shore, she pulled herself out and shook the water off her coat, sitting down and starting to groom her white fur down, one half of her long body stretched out in the snow.

Why did it have to snow? The large otter huffed, shaking snow from his coat. The male winged elder didn't hate the snow, just found it annoying how it had to blanket over everything. He just huffed and continued with his trek through the reserve.
Leon Garcia de Austurias, after finally settling Adelae down for a nap, finally took the time to venture around... having yet doing so ever since arriving. Walking along a path, he spotted a pond in the distance. Perhaps I can catch something to eat. He thought as he got closer. Nearing the body of water, at the shore, he then spotted someone there. He guessed he will even get a conversation going as well while he was there, walking more to the pond.

Velvet heard the crunch of snow behind her, which meant someone was coming in her general direction. Opening her black and red eyes, she looked up to see a large, winged otter come into her view and she set her paw back down into the snow, ignoring the slightly growing stain of blood around her paws.
This otter didn't look familiar to her at all, though she didn't go too far from her den before her recent growing so she hadn't really met anyone outside of her own family. She sat up fully to make herself be seen since she knew her fur blended in with the snow rather well, except her front paws and her feathered tail.

Leon got a better view of the other when they sat up, their form now not so meshed with the snow under their paws. It didn't take him that much longer to get closer to the, now apparently, female and with that, he bowed his head to her. "Greetings." He said softly before stopping a short distance in front of her and sitting down.

Her rounded ears perked a bit when the male finally arrived and she blinked a bit, never having really seen an otter with....so much on their body! Was somethin wrong with his fur, did his winter coat not grow in properly? Deciding not to ask just yet, she smiled lightly when he bowed his head to her and she turned herself to fully face him, "Hello, what are you doing out on this cold day?" she asked, her voice not quite vocal since she had just now started using it.

Slowly, the large male's tail curled around his legs, bundling his coat around his feet as the female turned to face him. When she spoke to him, he tilted his head some to hear her better, she seemingly having a soft voice. "Oh... I just decided to stretch my legs out. Honestly though, I'm also trying to get a lay of the land since I haven't really explored it since arriving here."

Velvet nodded her head, "I can understand that. I still don't know my way around the reserve quite yet. Of course, I was always....detained....so I never had a chance to really explore." she explained.

The clothed otter felt a bit relieved that he wasn't the only one who was 'new' to the reserve. It was when she mentioned being detained that he frowned some. "I'm sorry to hear that. It is never a good thing to be detained for anything. Protective parents or something?" He asked with a curious raise of a brow.

She gave a sad smile as she shook her head slowly, looking out over the water, "No, it wasn't my parents, they were wonderful to me. It was my own weakness that kept me from living my life." she stated.

Leon frowned more at her response and reaction from his question. But, when she mentioned being weak, he 'spat' some as he stood up and walked closer to her, "Weakness? What are ya talking about? All I see is a strong female before me." He told her, moving to stand in front of her. "Really, you were strong enough to become the wonderful adult you are now. If you were truly as weak as you claim, then you wouldn't have survived this long."

Velvet was surprised and a bit taken aback by the males words and attitude, and she blinked her black and red eyes in confusion. But she smiled warmly and chuckled, "But it was my own weakness. Before I became bigger, I was always sleeping, I never had the energy to move around, except maybe to eat or leave the den for a short time. So I was weak." she explained as best she could.

Leon still couldn't believe that this female could ever be weak, even after her new explanation. He gave her a small nudge. "Now, you don't truly believe that? If you were truly weak, you would have given up and slept forever. But, instead, you had the strength and determination to keep going... even if it took some time."

She gave a smile when he nudged her, "Well, if it wasn't for my parents support, I wouldn't have survived. But I guess I am not so weak. I don't feel weak anymroe. Now I can fish for myself, find my own den, do everything normal otters can do now." she said.

"That's the spirit!" He chimed lightly when she started speaking more positively about herself. His tail flicked lightly as he looked to her. "There is nothing you can't do with just a little determination!"

She blushed a little and smiled, chuckling at him, feeling a bit flattered he was so enthusiastic. "Well, thank you very much." she said, bowing her head a bit.
