It had been a long time since the decrepit young doctor had wandered outside the safe palace walls, and he was momentarily frightened when he saw the state of the street where he had emerged. He looked slowly from right to left, drawing strength from the knowledge that he was doing this for the sake of his latest experiment.

Then he spotted something of mystic proportions, a pair of healthy young siblings (twins!?) arguing with one another mere feet from where he stood. If he drew them in, then he wouldn't have to be outdoors any longer than necessary! What a successful voyage!

"Excuse me," he croaked as he strode up to them, giving them what he hoped would come off as a friendly smile but was instead a hideous grimace of sorts. He waved at them awkwardly, his other hand thrown carelessly into the pocket of his pristine white labcoat, his glasses catching the sunlight and hiding his eyes momentarily. "Is there a problem? Anything I can help you with?" He wrung his wrists pathetically, avoiding the gaze of the curious passerby.

Lukas ceased the bickering he was previously engaged in with his younger sister, to stare dumbly at the suspicious looking physician that was now attempting to grab their attention. Lukas was quick to turn away, paying the man no mind. He reached down to latch onto his sister's hand, but he was just a moment too late.

By this time, Amelia had already run off towards the stranger, waving frantically as she approached him. "Hello!" She belted out with an excited smile, and gleaming eyes to match.

"We aren't having any problems really! It's just that Lukas (he's my big brother) was trying to keep me all restrained, but I just like to be free! Is that so wrong? What do you think? Should he just leave me alone? Tell him not to be so mean!" The young girl continued with her annoying banter, desperately trying to engage the man in a silly conversation. The poor girl, perhaps she was lonely? Her company appeared to be the most unfriendly type.

The boy approached his sister quickly, roughly grabbing her arm and pulling her away from the man. "Go away, you creep. Don't you dare talk to my sister!" It was humorous actually. Because it appeared to be that the stranger wasn't talking at all, but rather it was all Amelia's doing.

It was so easy, he thought, when the girl came bounding over like a doe with large blue eyes and a childish laugh, but the figure of a young woman. She seemed healthy enough, he noted as she talked, and his eyes remained on hers despite the fact that he was absorbing all that she was. When she mentioned her older brother, his cold eyes flickered towards Lukas, disheartened by the notion that they were not twins at all, but siblings physically close in age. Mentally, however, there seemed to be a notable difference both in intelligence and personality.

The crest on each of their cheeks upped their worth considerably. He would give chase if need be.

He plastered a smile on his face, rubbing at the back of his head in a gesture of humility, preparing to set the lure, when she was snatched from him by her brother. He followed Lukas with his darkened eyes, his mouth curving into a frown. "Aah...! But wait!" He stumbled after Amelia uselessly. "Wait!" His hand shot forward, but at the last second he refrained from touching her at all, fearful of transferring from her person to him some kind of fatal illness that infected the commonfolk due to their life in the porous air.

"Well, I'm sure he is only trying to protect you," he told her, ignoring the boy. He said this as though he was choking, almost unable to tolerate choking out such a statement. He would be much more difficult, but perhaps, if he were lucky, the boy would follow if he persuaded the girl to come. "But you both look so hungry. I was merely going to offer you one of the grandest meals you will ever have."

He gestured pointedly to the castle behind him.
