Macha's forehead wrinkled more than it had done for a long time, this pup confused her a lot, first he was snappy with her, on her pack land, and then he thank her after he had found the sage, he seemed to be doing everything the other way around to what she was use to. He referred to looking for herbs as hide and side, a funny sort of comparison but once she thought it over it would work and if she thought of work as a game perhaps she'd enjoy it more but then again she liked work so...the conundrum she had formed for herself caused the frown to deepen further, her eyes near disappearing. It was all becoming to much for her, even more so when he quite happily now gave her his name, even after declaring that who ever found the sage got to ask the other a question, knowing full well hers was going to be for his name but now he gave it freely.
She blinked and shook her head, yet the frown remained as she watched Adam harvest the sage and then manage to talk to her, when she swore he didn't open his mouth. It was all a bit too much for the young pup used to being governed by sense and reason, in her own warped sense of it. She just simply nodded to his question, took another look at him and then shook her head in confusion before turning about. She took a few steps in the direction she had come nearly an hour ago now, towards the den she shared with Reaction, before turning about, an unsure smile playing upon her lips, hindered by her present state of confusion and then informed him, 'This way and you can find out for yourself.'

'Okay!' he replied. Yet as he pawed after her, Adam came to the belated realization that maybe he shouldn't be "talking" as clearly as he was - he did have sage in his mouth. Whoops! But what would muffled voices sound like? Quieter? Or louder to talk around the thing in your mouth? At least even the simple pup could understand that it wouldn't be as intelligible, so Adam rightly decided to rectify this quickly. 'I mean, hohay! Lez go!'
There! Man, he was slick and clever~
Too bad Macha didn't just outright say this Reaction wolf was nice or not, and Adam didn't feel like testing mind-reading in case it brought his headache back with a vengeance. So what was "you can find out for yourself" supposed to mean? That she could be either or, nice or mean, calm or tempermental? Someone so mercurial didn't sound good at all . . . unless Reaction was a mysterious wolf? Then it'd be more fun to deduce her true persona! The pup kept his head up as they traipsed into the pack territory, nose flaring as he caught various scents about.

Macha had gone out in search of the sage, and Reaction waited, though she was milling through the snow, digging into the white powder in an attempt at some kind of greenery. Winter always did such a number on the lands.. It made it hard to try and heal, when the needed ingredients for a cure were unable to be found.
True, her role as Pack Mother didn't always require knowing about the healing properties of the lands around you.. But it was a good trait to have for a pack that did not have a shaman. Something she herself wouldnt mind being..
She nosed a decaying tree trunk, and smiled as a long mushroom was growing away from the cold inside it. She smiled, and lowered her maw to pluck the lone plant and dart back to the den. She had to get it into her little hole in the back of the den before any hungry creature started begging her for it. It was such a hassle convincing them it wasnt for eating..

Macha lifted her head more than usual and her tail swished about in pride in the air. She felt, as she guided Adam along to meet Reaction, that she had captured a new pupil for Reaction as well as discovering some sage even this late into the winter. Granted it hadn't been physically her that had found the sage but good enough either way you looked at it. She marched right up the clearing in front of the den and with a quick look over her shoulder she shook her head once in direction of the den's entrance, signally to Adam that this was their destination, she turned and walked into the depths of the den she shared with Reaction.
Declaring herself Macha called out to Reaction who she saw ferreting something way in her collection of things at the back of the den, somewhere Macha had learnt not to investigate for fear of life. 'I'm back and I have found more than sage for you.' she said almost smugly, knowing even Reaction would find it hard to believe sage grew at this time of year, only it was not her nose she had to thank for the bountiful harvest.

Adam too wondered at how something like sage could grow at this time of year, snagging the vague ponderings from Macha as they walked further into the pack's territory. Also, apparantly she was still acting quite smug at the discovery, having found it without doing the work! Others might feel as though they had been used, but frankly the male was happy to help in any manner, even if it ended that he was doing the dirty work. Prompted to follow her to a particular den, Adam trotted after Macha, the sage limply bouncing his his jaws.
The den had peculiar smells that gave him a sudden sense of being both familiar and foreign - not in that he had ever been here before, but in that he had been raised in a place that often smelled of various flowers and herbs. Dark eyes grew wide with curiosity as he attempted to sniff out the individual scents as they walked, noting only at the end of their travelling that there was actually a wolf inside with funky blue spots and . . . and a silvery tree growing on her? Weird. Regardless, he presented the sage with a smile, wagging his tail slightly as he looked up at the adult.

She had not expected the female to return so quickly, or with any kind of harvest. Reaction herself, didnt believe that Sage grew this time of year, though by now in life, she had begun to realize anything grew if you knew how to tend for it. Her mushroom was proof of that in itself. She had been proud of that mushroom, and even more proud of her nose for having scouted it out so quickly before some raccoon or deer ate it free of its decaying stump.
She turned her head at the voice, finishing burying her prize, and looking at Mach curiously.
"Did you?" She asked, her eyes ticking to the female, and noticing she did not carry any of it herself. One look to the other pup, showed her that indeed they had found the sage plant she had been needing.
She couldnt help the widening of her eyes, as she chuckled.
"So you did, Good job darlings. Who have we got here?" She asked, looking at Adam with a soft smile as his little tail wagged. She loved puppies, especially cute ones.

Macha contemplated whether or not to admit to the fact that it hadn't actually been her that had discovered the sage though it had been her had that invited Adam into her 'game' and thus discovering the sage. But reluctantly she came to the conclusion that Reaction may remember this occasion and come another winter when she was in need of a named herb she may turn to Macha to help her find it Macha would then have to admit to the truth and then perhaps Reaction's disappointment. So she thought it best to admit to the truth.
Macha rubbed her left fore paw about on the compacted earthen floor of the den and then after finishing her internal fight she looked up at Reaction and admitted, 'Weeeeellll, it wasn't physically me that found the sage.' She looked at Adam and wondered if her newly made friend would mind if she told Reaction his name as he had been so funny with herself but she thought if she couldn't have the praise from Reaction she was at least going to get the satisfaction of annoying him by pasting on his name to another. She smiled a sideways smile at Adam and then a distant star sparkled in her eye and she looked back up at her tutor, 'Adam here found it. He has a great nose.'
Macha then stepped to one side and let Reaction close in on Adam to get a closer look and also to draw the focus off herself so she could simply watch the exchange now happen between Reaction and the new pup.

'Mmmhmm!' intoned the young male when he saw fit to enter the conversation. And look, he remembered that his speech was supposed to be muffled htis time! Ah, how proud Adam was with himself. He dropped the sage and nudged it towards the adult, tail wagging. 'Very good nose! I can remember any scent after I've smelled it. We had a game to see who could find sage first!' The first game in a while, too, at least for him. He wasn't used to playing with others his age, so the opportunity brightened his day.
The female was giving him good vibes as well, so Adam grew more comfortable amongst them, sitting down and looking about. 'Whoa . . . lotsa herbs here in . . . iiiiiin, um . . . Draug Faroth, right?' He had quickly skimmed over his encounter with Mache to remember. 'So whatcha need sage for again? You look like you have tons of other stuff already.'

She looked to the little odd colored male, giving him a little smile. She enjoyed teaching others, and if this would give him knowledge for the future...then she had helped in someones life. She did not fault poor Macha for not finding the sage herself.. "Don't worry darling. You found Adam right? You helped in your own way." She took the sage from the boy with a smile, and sat to answer his question.
"Have you heard of energy, children?" She asked, looking at Macha too. Energy was all around them, negative or positive, it was around.
"Burning the sage, actually helps release the negative spirits from the area. They cannot stand the purity of the smoke, and so they flee." She told the story with emotion, and then chuckled a little, and nosed Macha.
"It keeps us safe, and lets the gods watch over us."

Macha listened intently to Reaction’s teaching, as she did always when learning something new but a frown formed on her brow as Reaction spoke of gods, Macha had a great deal of trouble with getting her head around the concept that there were beings all about her that she couldn’t see but controlled everything, she didn’t like the idea much either as ultimately the fate of everything therefore was left in the paws of creatures she couldn’t see and therefore she did not really believe was there. But upon questioning the issue in the past it had upset Reaction and therefore she let the matter lay, knowing it was probably better to talk to HanGeng about the matter.
Besides talk of gods, Macha simply applied her own logic to the matter, sage purified, she knew tiny little bugs lived all about her and caused illness perhaps then sage cleared the air of these bugs. She remembered Reaction arguing that if she could believed in these tiny bugs she couldn’t see, why couldn’t she believe in gods, it was a good point she had to admit but still something did not feel right about the concept of gods to Macha. Her mind became lost in her own thoughts, tangling in upon itself with her tirade of questions and then finally part of her cried out, calming her inquisitive nature and dumping her attentions back into the physical here and now. The frown remained but eyes became focused on Reaction and then flickered to Adam wondering if he believe in gods.
