It was just getting dark outside when a figure clad in dark robes came to the door that lead to the home of the Ship in a Bottle child, Kailani, and her Guardian, Ira. After rummaging around in it's sleeves for a moment, it pulled out a cube; a tiny cube, no bigger than a dice. The figure placed the Cube just outside of the door; when the figure stepped away, the cube twisted and turned until it became a box. A black box with a green ribbon.
The gift given, the robed figure rang the door bell, knocked on the door, or made enough noise to convince the inhabitants to investigate. Knowing that it's gift would somehow be found, it disappeared into thin air, leaving the gift behind.
(( Who finds the item? What do they do with it? Do they open it? Leave it there? Kick it away? RESPOND. ))

As dusk gathered to darkness within the vast house things only seemed to be getting more lively. After all Kailani loved movie night. All the servants had been dismissed for the day apart from the few that held residence within the house. William being one of them. A few maids and the old cook. Kai had invited everyone to take part. And everyone had their part of play, the cook was busy sorting out snacks, while William and the maids cleaned the large living room and brought down blankets. Dimming the lights and creating a suitable cozy atmosphere by starting the wood fire.
Ira and Kailani were engaged in choosing that nights Entertainment in the large office. Ira reclining in his padded seat while Kailani sat in his lap looking thoughtful. On the desk the keyboard and papers had been brushed to one side in favour of a selection of Dvd's. Such as Robin hood. Aladdin. Peter Pan and Toy story. Ira was just wating, he knew which one she would choose, every movie night with Kai was kicked off with the same one. "this one!" she demanded as she picked up Peter pan. Naturally it was the best since it had pirates in it. Ira sighed and nodded. But at least the others were new to the childs already growing collection. "What Else?" He prompted gently. "ummm, this one...and this one." She picked up Robin hood and Toy story. Ira shook his head, "you only get to pick two to start with, you know that." The girl pouted, it was at that moment the door went and was duly ignored. William would get it and the girl and her guardian were locked together in a battle of wills. "But we always end up watching three anyway." she complained. "But you always fall asleep half way through the last one, so you choose two and if your not to tired maybe a third one later." The girls scowl grew but she knew she was beaten. Besides, she would just make sure she stayed awake long enough to get her way.
Before she could concede defeat however William knocked on the door. "Come." Ira replied before the butler entered with a box in his hands. "Sir. This was left at the door. There is no Label. What do you wish done with it?" however before a reply could come Kailani was already springing across the room. "A Present?" she squeaked with glee, freeing the man of his burden before he could protest or think to lift it out of the girls reach. "Can I open it. Pleasssseeee" She whined. Ira watched her with the usual blank stare as the girl did her best to look pleading and adorable. "Okay." Ira consented "As Long as we start with something other than Peter pan tonight." This time it was Kailani's turn to consider and although there was a small pout she seemed to consider this a reasonable compromise and nodded "Okay!" she replied before pulling off the ribbon and yanking open the lid.

A puff of gray smoke exploded out of the box as Kailani opened the lid, and as the cloud disappeared it showed the box to be empty. Completely empty. Huh.
On the other end of the room a tiny cloud formed, growing and growing until it appeared to be a little creature with a giant blue eye holding a hypnodisk on a chain. It was staring at the selection of DVDs, looking perplexed.
"Foooood?" It chittered curiously, opening it's toothy mouth wide and slobbering down on one of the DVD cases. With a face it spat it back out, pawing at it's large tongue with it's two fingered hand. "EwNotfood! Grossgrossgross!" Shooting into the air, it spun around, bounced off of items, and generally made a nuisance of itself until falling right through Kailani, splattering like a pile of goo on the floor near her foot.
"Hungryyyyyyyboxesnotfoodgirlnotfoodwantfooood..."

Kailani jumped as the puff of smoke rose into the air. But it was only a brief distraction as she turned her attention back inside the box to see...nothing. There had been nothing in the intriguing black box but smoke? Boooo. "There's nothing inside!" She complained loudly only to feel William tap her on the shoulder "Sir." he spoke, gaining Ira's attention as well as the grey blob scooted down to the Dvd's on the Desk. "It's a ghost!" the Curio instantly declared with a mixture of fear and wide eyed delight. It was like something right out of a real story. She laughed as it tried to eat the film boxes and failed, jumped when it zoomed trough her, but all in all it was very entertaining.
William and Ira were shooting surprised glances at each other across the room. He was intrigued,but also annoyed the thing, whatever it was seemed intent on making a mess of his office. while meanwhile Kai was crouched down beside the goo pile and trying to poke it. "Oh, Ira can I keep it!" Kailani begged. "Hold on Kai we don't even know what it is yet." The elder reprimanded her gently, but it seems to be hungry, William please." the Butler nodded and disappeared coming back a few moments later with a bowl of chips. Snacks that had been put out for movie night. But they seemed the easiest quickest solution.

A huge mouth opened when the little girl poked at it, it's tongue shooting straight out then flopping to the side unceremoniously. After a moment or two of stillness the tongue moved, poking at the finger before it's mouth closed around it, not biting but just...holding it. Slobbering.
A giant blue eye opened when food was mentioned, and the finger was spat out in favor of bouncing around the room again. FOOD FOOD YAY IT WAS GOING TO GET FOOD! The man returned with the food and the creature zoomed in on it, splattering itself against William's face in a big hug.
"ILOVEYOOOOOOU~" It chattered loudly, diving into the bowl of food and making the most obnoxious eating noises to ever grace the planet. Seconds later the bowl was empty and all that remained was a fat little gray smoke creature, belching in content.
"Ohyeah." It said suddenly, shooting up out of the bowl, passing through Kailani and skidding to a halt in front of Ira's face, waving it's hypnodisk from side to side. "Youaregettingsleepyandthankyouforthechips." It chattered in a hypnotic voice. "YouneedtotakeshipgirltoBalcombeCuriousities." The tiny fat thing instructed, peering over the disk to see if it had worked.
