Well I'm finally ready to start wearing lolita clothing. My first dress is going to either be a Cosplay dress I can wear to this year's convention or a really cute casual dress I can start wearing anytime. As much as I would like to have the cute casual dress first, I think it's a better idea to order the cosplay dress first, seeing as I don't really know how long it will take to get here and I shouldn't chance a late arrival for the convention. After that I plan on getting one new dress or something a month as long as it's under $100 or so. I wouldn't mind going a little over if the dress seems good enough.
I'll also keep an eye open in stores around me for cute things. That would probably be a lot cheaper.
Do you remember your first dress?

My first dress is the dress I wear most frequently to this day actually: It's a simple black Moi Meme Moitie jsk with tiers and flowers on it.
I haven't got a name or a stockpicture of it because I actually bought it from a closet child I found in Harajuku though. Once I picked it up I couldn't bring myself to put it back on the rack of dresses ♥

My prom dress. . . set. It may seem a little casual for prom. But my goal was not to go to prom. I don't care for dances at my school. Prom was an excuse to get an outfit. I picked something with lots of pieces I know I could work into other outfits later, and it proved to be a very wise decision.
Since then I've bought 2 dresses and another shirt off fanplus and with just those alone I have a bajillion combinations of things. (they all kinda go together) so I'm happy xD

I have several pieces that all showed up around the same time as one another, which were my first "real" lolita pieces. I tried to sew some things on my own before that and failed miserably, so I don't think that they count. haha I'm not sure which of these was "first", though, since they all arrived within a week of one another. They were all Metamorphose pieces, from different sources.
This dress was a gift from a friend as an early birthday gift. He likes to make me happy, but he also likes to pretend he never bought it, because he's very anti-western-lolitas:
This set, I bought from a girl in Austria around the same time:
I also purchased an LP OP. I'd intended to shorten the sleeves so that it would be less frumpy, but never got around to it, so I sold it:

My first lolita-ish items came from early childhood. Bit of a story, you can skip it if you want.
Grandparents made me wear these ugly carpenter jeans with an elastic toddler waist (I was like 5 or 6) and red flannel plaid on the inside. They were too long, so I had to have them cuffed so everyone could see the flannel. Bad enough my fro had to be pulled into a braid, so no girly curls like everyone else, just flat head then braid, but now I had the same pants as the boy from the lego blocks commercial. Grandpa's t-shirts, brothers hand me down shorts, and being an ugly duckling were already starting to get to me. I always had to be the yellow ranger at recess because I wasn't cute enough to be the pink ranger. -__- So one day I absolutely refused to wear anything that wasn't fit for a queen. My pageant dresses, sunday dresses, and this beautiful red coat that looked kinda like this- http://pds.exblog.jp/pds/1/200901/21/37/a0059137_5585228.jpg but for a kid, and the dresses were kind of like this- http://www.japanforum.com/gallery/data/2/medium/harajuku-fashion-09-10-07-09.jpg or this- http://www.mishalulu.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/sunday-dress_004.jpg except pink and yellow and baby blue. A girl in reading class asked me, "Why is you always wearing dresses?" The next day I answered her like my mom suggested with, "Why is you not speaking correct English?", my first exposure to my mother's snarky humor which changed my sense of humor forever.
When I grew up, my first true lolita item was a pink and white headpiece that I hand sewed during lunch hours at work.

My first dress was Candy Violet Blue Alice in Wonderland dress that I wore for Halloween. It even had a petite hat that made it absolutely beautiful!
