The cold days seemed to slowly getting a bit longer, the sun starting to set a bit more later in the day. Yet snow still remained on the ground and parts of the rivers, lakes, streams and ponds remained frozen with ice. Of course, none of that mattered to Speed as he peeked out from behind a leafless tree, his eyes trained on the vehicle parked next to the cabin.
He had been caught last time and gotten a stern talking to about stealing another persons vehicle, but what did they expect?! Racing was in his blood, he had to drive, get behind the wheel and just go, go, go! Of course his only problem was his small size, he couldn't quite reach the pedals. But he never let that stop him before! Now he just had to be sure that the ranger lady was taking her usual nap.

Billy didn't like the idea of swiping things from the ranger station he had accidentally found. Especially since it seemed someone lived there. But then he could hardly hope an electronics store would spring up in the reserve. And he needed some extra wiring to put some finishes touches on the communicators. (Thankfully in-helmet communications had been easier to fix.) He sighed reminding himself it was necessary as he approached the building. Only to find that he wasn't the only one planning to do something. He was grateful to have his helmet on, yet again concealing his identity, as he walked up behind the other otter. His boots crunched slightly in the snow and he doubted his arrival had been stealthy. "What are you doing?"

Poor Speed wasn't really paying any attention and he jumped and squeaked when he heard the voice ask him a question. Whirling around, his helmet rolled away from him a bit and he chased after it. Once he got it in his paws, he turned it so the snow would fall out.
Finally he turned to he startled him, gray eyes blinking in amazement that he suddenly seemed to show up, but then he snapped out of it cause he didn't want to get caught again, "W-what are you doing here?!" he countered back.

The Blue Ranger watched as the otter chased after his helmet, clenching his jaw on a chuckle. It seemed very much like something he would've done, had done, if he wasn't in his powered up form. He waited until the oddly dressed otter turned to him.
"I made the inquiry first," he replied. "I'm searching for electrical components to repair something that was damaged upon my arrival in this place." He wisely decided to leave out the fact he was hoping to swipe said components from the ranger station. No need for someone to spread the information around and end up with the reserve thinking the Power Rangers were thieves!

Speed set his helmet beside him, upside down so no snow got into it. He watched the uniformed otter, finding him odd he seemed so covered up, even though he didn't think it was all that cold. When he explained he was here to fix something, he shifted some snow about with his paw, "W-w-well....I'm here for something as well, though I think it is bigger then what you are trying to find." he stated, not sure if he wanted to tell this stranger he was out for the Jeep.
Wait a minute, a stranger?! Feeling very rude, he scratched at his hair, giving a sheepish grin, "I'm sorry, I didn't give you my name! My name is Speed Racer, but you can call me Speed!" he said in introduction.

Introductions were always an opportunity to be hazardous, what with needing to conceal an identity. "I'm the Blue Ranger," it sounded a tad stuffy to his own ears which flicked back. "It's nice to meet you Speed," he added, sounding much friendlier.
"Perhaps I could offer you my assistance?" He was a ranger after all and he was supposed to help people. Besides what harm could Speed be up to?

Blue Ranger? That was an odd name? But he supposed his name was odd as well. Shaking those thoughts away, he smiled when the other male said it was nice to meet him. When he asked if he needed help, but rubbed the back of his head and looked over to where the jeep was sitting, "Well....you see, I'm a race car driver! I love to race and I really love to drive, nothing like it. Except, I don't exactly have anything in my size, so I was wondering if I could....borrow the rangers jeep!" he said, thinking it sounded silly to his own ears.

A race car driver. That made sense with the way the otter was dressed and the helmet. He turned his head to look towards the jeep in question, wondering if the ranger knew about this. He very much doubted it. Else Speed wouldn't be sneaking around and hiding behind trees. But then he was making a hypothesis based on very well.
"Have you gotten permission from the ranger?" he asked, carefully biting back the addition that otherwise it would be stealing. Since he was basically planning to steal. Oh what a hypocrite he was.

"Well, she told my human I had to be careful with it...." though she had really said he had to be careful around it, "...so yes, I got permission!" he said with a smile.

That-well it sounded somewhat suspect. Lucky for Speed, Billy's conscience had awoken to point out he was being unkind in theorizing that the otter's intentions were shifty. "Oh." He turned to look at the jeep again, "Can you drive a jeep that large?" the scientist in him asked. He didn't think it was possible, an otter was rather small and a human's vehicle was quite a bit larger.

Speed puffed up his chest with pride, "Sure, I can drive anything!! I just can't reach the pedals, you know cause I am not as big as a human. I would just need someone to work the brake and the gas for me." he said, starting to feel he might be able to pull this off.

This was a bad idea. No, the thought transfer apparatus had been a bad idea. This was a terrible idea.
"I think I could manage to do that." He gave a sharp nod. The components to repair the communicators could wait awhile. "I-is the ranger in?" he asked, they'd have to be quiet if she was. He didn't want to get caught. He wasn't sure he could explain this, "I temporarily seem to have lost the facilities of my normally logical and reasonable mind," probably wasn't going to work.

"Yes, but she is taking her nap right now, she'll be asleep for most of the day! I promise, I'll get the key, drive around and have the jeep parked back before she wakes up, and I'll help you get what you need. She won't even know anything happened!" he said, his eyes bright with excitement and eager to drive.

"Does she prefer not to know when you take it out?" he asked slightly concerned. He imagined he wouldn't want to know if someone was taking the jeep out for a joy ride. Or he would if it was his Dinozord. Which reminded him that he really needed to see if the zords would respond, having access to it could be helpful.
"I would be grateful for your help in obtaining the components. I am hoping the ranger will have thrown something out that I can strip for wiring." And if he had to take something, in the case they didn't alert her to their-Speed's-borrowing of the jeep, well it might be nice to have help. He had a feeling Speed might have more courage to take something than he did.

He nodded enthusiastically, eager to get into the vehicle, "I know where she keeps the keys. I'll go inside and get them and I'll meet you at the jeep! Thanks so much Blue Ranger!" he said and he slipped his own helmet on, but kept the visor up for now.
He turned back to the cabin and scampered through the snow, hopping up each step before slinking his way to the door, gently pushing it open and peeking inside. Then he disappeared in.
