Bui stretched out and surveyed the area. How long had it been since the demon raid? A few months? At least both his mother and his... what was she though? He and his companion had grown so close over the last few months that he couldn't really think of what to call her anymore. An allie? A friend? A... well, his mother had suggested she may be a 'girlfriend' but Bui didn't know about that. He had never really grown up understanding what that thing called 'love' was meant to be, with the exception of love of his pride and his family... and she did feel like family.

He had to confirm, in some way, if he could. What were they supposed to be exactly? How did he go about finding out?

Relationships. He liked them better when they were all about killing and deciding who was useful and who wasn't. Teiracaes was extremely useful, of course. He wouldn't care about her if she weren't. But she was... and she seemed to care about him, for whatever reason.

Did she look at him the same way? In terms of his uses to her? It would make sense, of course.

He was over-thinking. They just needed to talk was all.

The raid had left her injured but none of the wounds had, thankfully, scarred. It had been a particularly desperate fight but Buibui's mother had come to her rescue and together they'd fought off the invading, vicious demoness.

The encounter had shaken Teiracaes, brought home the reality of her visions even more... but beyond that, she'd fought a strength to fight, not just for herself but those around her, those she cared about... for Buibui'Sefu.

As much as he was an enigma and possessed of a strength of will she could only hope to emulate, she was drawn to him and worried for him, had redoubled her efforts with his mother's presence to make a good impression. She was no weakling! Buibui said she was useful, talented... and strong by his side.

His smile was what she fought for then, and in the end they'd won.

It left her with an epiphany that she wasn't sure was all that much of one. Her parents spoke of it often, showed their affection often and yet it had never dawned on her that she might encounter that same, so-called feeling. Perhaps she hadn't seen for Seeing?

Buibui was strong, yes, but she... felt he was more then a companion.

Sunning herself, she had rolled in the tall grass below the outlook they always met at, her tail flicked from side to side as she thought, lost in her memories and the questions about her own circumstance and idly wondered if he felt the same.

Bui spotted her, glad that his visions had drawn him towards her. They did have to talk, it was for the best. He had been worried... when his mother told him Teiracaes had been wounded in battle. He never worried about that kind of thing. A wound meant a mistake had been made, and one would fix it next time... but with her... He had panicked inside when he had heard that she had gotten hurt. That was the wrong feeling for an allie... worry, at the most, but this was more than worry.

"Teiracaes." He said quietly, approaching with caution. She may have already seen him coming, he could never be sure. That was generally why he liked to keep her around. He could see everything around them, and she knew what was coming.

"I thought you and I should... speak." He hated this already. Emotional chatter. Useless, he had always thought, so he had never made a move to change it for himself, and yet, here he was. Trying to fix everything through words instead of claws. He had no idea how that would work.

Her ears flicked at that, immediately alert as she rolled onto her side in a lazy effort to bring Buibui into her vision, "Buibu-" She cut herself off, however, as he told her they needed to speak and she blinked, caught off guard. Her friend was more for action then for speaking... and speaking never meant good things.

Worry creeped into her eyes then and her ears laid back into an expression of fear, "Speak...? About?" Teira shifted so she was laying on her belly, letting the relaxed posture go as she stood and moved to nose at Buibui, sensing something was amiss, "What's wrong?"

"Hum...? Wrong, nothing." Bui said, though his tense stance said otherwise. He hated talking like this, it had never made sense to him before, and yet now that it was called for, he realized it was because he was no good at it. He needed to stop and get a grip on himself. This was logical, wasn't it? They were both powerful adults who could help the pride in some way. He had some... feelings, though he loathed to admit the word, and perhaps she had them as well. And perhaps if they both had them, it would mean that they could talk and work something it.

"It... had occured to me, recently, that you are perhaps my... only friend and companion, outside of my family." The General admitted, taking a seat and scratching his ear. Not nervously. He wasn't nervous. Certainly not. That would be utterly riddiculous. He was the General of the Demon Hunters. Something like this was no more dangerous than hunting down a stray gazelle. "We get along, I believer... far better than anyone else that either of us know, and I think that is a good thing. It has built a strong allience between the two of us."

He paused a moment, "And so, as it is the reponsibility of pride members to look out for each other... I thought perhaps you and I should do it in a responsible fashion." This sounded stupider and stupider the more he talked. It was like a business transaction... but really, business transactions were all he knew.

She tilted her head to the side when he denied being bothered and rumbled a 'mhm'. Teiracaes was an empathic lion, it was what had driven to her current rank. Not everything was evil... and not everything was good. Lions got confused and acted strangely when they were. And, judging by Buibui's circular conversation, he was indeed confused.

She sat before him, all eyes and ears for her dear companion, and nodded in agreement, "I know you best, Buibui.... and I like that. We do have a strong alliance, I am grateful for that... you've taught and shown me so much. You are dear to me, General."

Teira fell quiet as he continued to speak, the swell of hope rising in her chest as she tried to sort through his words. He was fumbling... and Buibui never fumbled. That meant this was important and she did not want to screw it up for him. Shifting closer, she smiled as she nosed him again in a feline version of a vote of confidence, though her words were quiet and unsure but full of hope when she spoke, "Are... are you asking me to be yours, Buibui? ... to be your mate?"

She'd never thought that Buibui would want her like that... marriage was so rare in the pride, and Buibui was the General. Still, the hope and wonder was hard to miss as she tried to figure out just what he was fumbling at. Swallowing her insecurity, the dark lioness smiled, "I will be. If you want me."

Backing away then, she dipped her gaze, realizing that she'd probably stepped beyond her bounds... that this was just another business transaction. Hopefully she hadn't made too much of a fool of herself...

Bui stopped a moment, glad to hear her talking instead of him. He had never been very good at this kind of thing, which made her useful once more. He shared no empathy or sympathy for other beings, he knew only of justice and the law, and how to kill for the good of the pride. Yes, she was far better at understanding, and caring for, the emotions of other. A general needed to balance, and she could make up for what he so strongly lacked. And he hated to admit weakness, and if fact, didn't, because he didn't think he had a weakness to speak of, because emotions could make you weak. Still, he liked the way she made him feel.

He let out a sigh, almost relief, from when she said she knew what he was trying to say, and that she agreed. That was much better. A lot easier on him, since it meant that she didn't have to spit it out.

"Good. That... was what I was asking, and that's good." Bui said, knowing this was rare in the pride, "I honestly think it is best to set a good example in positions such as ours. Though the fight is always more important in the long run, I believe that we should not alienate ourselves from those close to us." And she was closest to him now... the only one he really wanted to protect.

"And so it is my hope that you and I could be mates, together here." He admitted with a short nod, "I believe that we will be a powerful team, perhaps more powerful than we are already."

She nodded again, a rarely seen sparkle of true joy in her eyes as she placed a paw briefly against his chest, "Mates, then. To set an example, to lead the way... and unify." Teiracaes dropped her gaze with an expression of embarrassment, "We will be stronger. I know this. When I was fighting the invading demons... I... I fought for you. I wanted to see your smile and hear your voice again. It is selfish, I know, but it made me stronger."

"I want to fight with you..." She paused, as if deciding something and then spoke again, testing the phrase, "I love you." It felt right... and she didn't expect Buibui to speak the same... but was this what her parents had meant by love? To say and feel it and have it returned? It was a good feeling, truly, and she liked it. "Buibui, my Love. My mate. My General." She laughed quietly, pleased, "Now your titles are ever more impressive, Buibui. They suit you."

"We will be." Bui smiled a little, smirking at the edge of his mouth. He had never been good with the straight out smiles, but Teiracaes... she brought something out of him that he hadn't thought was there before. And she had fought for him. Well, he didn't exactly approve of that, one should fight for the pride, not for any individual... but it was nice to know that she had cared enough... that he had meant something to her.

"I will fight with you until the day I die. No matter what..." He told her, his solumn oath. "I will watch out for you. I will fight for you. Together, we will be the most powerful warriors that this pride has ever seen, or could ever see. This was the way things were supposed to be, even if it didn't last long, or one of them died... at least he had her now.

"I have fallen in love with you, Teiracaes. I don't intend to let you leave my side again... we will fight for the good of the pride, and all those that come here in the furture. We will destroy all those who would hinder us." And he truly believed it.

"Together, side by side. My light and your might." She echoed, smiling for him and him alone. As far as was concerned, this little exchange, an exchange of emotion was enough - the vows and the celebration would come later, surely, but then they would be at the center of attention.... and Buibui was not as empathic as to be so kind then. They both had public images to upkeep and she would not begrudge him that.

Not when she knew he was hers now.

Rumbling happily, Teiracaes made a bolder move and rubbed her cheek along his, before stepping past, letting her tail trail under his chin. Laughing, she tilted her head, "Hunt with me?"

"We will be. You and I, together." Bui promised quietly, nodding his head. He was not one to show emotion, and he certainly wouldn't in the future... but in this moment, he wanted to know that he cared for her more than he cared for anyone else. Though of course, the pride came first and always would. He would never allow any emotion to stand between him and what was best for the pride.

But now he had someone to watch his back in the meantime.

"I'll be happy to hunt with you." Bui smirked for a moment, a thought entering his mind, "Who knows... perhaps you and I will find ourselves a nice demon whose blood will comcecrate our union." After all, what better occasion to find and kill an enemy than this one?

And he did so love the idea of destroying them now. A better world. For his mother, his brothers and sisters... and now for his mate and his future children. He would see them all dead.
