Leveling and Training Guild

1) Intro
2) Explanation of leveling
3) Counting EXP
4) Explanation for training

Intro

Experience and levels represent how strong and experienced your character have become through his life. Also, it just wouldn’t be an RPG without some sort of leveling system now would it?

The stronger your character becomes, the harder it becomes to get greater power. For this reason, you would do various types of training and exercises to increase your power.

Explanation of Leveling

Every character in the guild as well as pets and other types of creatures can become stronger through the acquisition of experience points. One can get experience points by completing missions, fighting, sparing, and training.

Once an individual obtains a certain amount of Experience Points, they will gain a level. In gaining this level, you automatically obtain a few extra perks to aid in your characters growth.

*You recalculate your Hp using the normal formula [100 + con. mod] x level
*You recalculate your Mp using the normal formula [10 + int. mod] x level
*You recalculate your Ap using the normal formula [10 + str. mod] x level
*You recalculate your skill points using the normal formula 2 + [int. mod x level]
*3 Distribution Points
*You might receive extra attacks per round depending on your level.
*You might have a level high enough to start learning new abilities and spells.

Counting EXP

For completing any of the tasks listed above, you will always be given a set amount of exp so long as you fulfill any requirements listed. However, past the requirements given, you can also gain bonus exp based on how much relevant material you typed. This does not, however, apply to killing monsters as they already give exp on their own.

Basically, this is a reward for being descriptive and creative with your typing. Calculations of this are as follows.

L1-5: 1 XP per 65 words
L6-10: 1 XP per 40 words
L11-19: 1 XP per 35 words
L20-29: 1 XP per 30 words
L30-49: 1 XP per 20 words
L50+: 1 XP per 15 words

Basically what this scale translates into is that when you are between levels 1-5 and do any posts, the grader will take all the text past what is required and divide the number of extra words by 65, rounded down. Whatever the answer is is how much extra exp you acquire. You may also acquire extra stat and skill points due to training but that will be explained later.

By now, your probably wondering how much exp you’ll even need to get to your next level. The following charts will explain the amounts you need:

Level 1-9: Add +10 to your exp bar [100 - 180]
Level 10: Add +20 to your exp bar [200]
Level 11-15: Add +50 to your exp bar [250 - 500]
Level 16-20: Add +100 to your exp bar [600 - 1000]
Level 21-30: Add +200 to your exp bar [1200 - 3000]
Level 31+: Add +500 to your exp bar [3500.... +]

Explanation of Training

Let’s face it, we all want our characters to be stronger in some way, shape, form or fashion. It’s thanks to this desire that we train our characters.

Now it should be noted that training can come in many different forms in an RPG. Anywhere from focusing on a specific aspect of yourself to going out and bustin’ some monster heads together. Either of these are perfectly good, perfectly viable ways to train and level oneself.

However, there are a few rules in place to make sure your training provides your character with a relatively useful degree of exercise and to make sure you don’t just cheese the system.

When doing combat with monsters, defeating the monsters themselves will net you exp and kp automatically. The number should be marked for each and every monster you fight.

The important thing to note is why you’re fighting this monster. If the battle is the point of a mission or quest, meaning that you are specifically instructed to fight this monster(s), you will get the exp/kp from fighting the monsters and the extra exp granted by counting the words you use.

Now if the battle is a result of a random battle you get in while traveling or doing something else, only the exp/kp from the monster kill will count. Even if you get into a random battle while trying to get to the destination of a mission, the text for that random fight won’t count.

Now the second of these rules may seem to contradict the feeling this guild wants to give to its rpers and that feeling is that we want you to do nice, full posts. However, this rule is more so in place to keep our graders from going ballistic and having to count 20 different rp threads for a single character instead of 3. You can see why that would make a major difference.

Another item to note is that, along with counting words for exp/kp, the contents of your text matters as well. This text, when read by one of the graders, could net you a few extra points in skills and stats. It’s based on what types of things you do during your training/mission that determine if your worthy of getting this extra exp.

Lets show an example of what NOT to type for training.

Post 1: Sam slashed his sword 100 times.
Post 2: Sam ran around his home town 200 times.
Post 3: Sam killed 3 goblin monsters.

You type any of that, expecting someone to take it seriously, and you will probably get laughed right out of the guild.

Better posts for those 3 situations would probably be.

Post 1: Sam took a slow, drawing breath as he gazed to the straw dummy before him. Clasping the blunted iron sword in both hands, he steeled himself for the task at hand. With an abrupt yell/scream thing, he charged toward the dummy and slashed at it furiously.

Post 2: The light of the sun lite his path along the back streets of his home town. Sam could probably run this blindfolded but he had decided against it. With 200 laps ahead of him, he figured fatigue would set in and destroy any hope he had of completing said task blindfolded. Either way, he began his journey around his home as one begins any journey, with the first step.

Post 3: In his goofing around and joking, Sam had found himself set upon by 3 rather ticked looking goblins. The reason for their anger was that poor Sam had stepped into the stew they were making for themselves. Of course, human bone stew tasted better than mog stew any day. Sam drew his blade as the goblins readied themselves. Without waiting for this, Sam charged forward, slashing furiously.

Now, granted you could make yours far more expansive than that but as far as bare minimums go, those meet the requirements. To get the most points, training should be expressive and detailed. Creativity works the best. If you can impress one of our graders, you have a higher chance of getting higher points.
