Man, personally I think I'm horrible at chibis! User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. I was hoping I could get some tips on making my chibis better.

This is an adoptable commission for my friend. The character design/her likeness is copyright to her in the third stage, and the second and first stages and their likeness are copyright to me.

SarahofDarkness is my name on dA, so sorry for the huge watermark.

I would appreciate any tips to make my chibis better. I'm unhappy with the second stage. I'm okay with the third though. The coloring makes me happy. 8D

She requested an egg for the first stage. I was like "People don't hatch from eggs. o_o" She said "Well this is an adoptable, we can get away with it!"

This is all done on Paint tool SAI. The first stage (egg) was easy and took me 30 minutes, the second stage about 45, and the third... an hour and a half. x__x

I'd also like to know if anyone would like to see more adoptables from me. c:

Love the coloring!

I am going to say that I, too, am terrible at drawing chibis. However, based on the works of more successful chibi artists, I derived a few pointers. They sort of helped me, I still draw hideous chibis, but maybe they'll be more beneficial to you.

- Keep head proportions to a round number. Example: 2 or 3 heads tall, not 2 and 1/2 heads or 3 and 1/4 heads.
- Just how the rest of the body is deformed, deform the hands/feet as well. Make it cute (think of how children hands are formed).
- Even if they are still chibis, basic rules of anatomy still apply.

Very cute, the coloring is great; the lineart looks rather sharp too. I think Kupocake already pointed out all that needs to be said. Keep up the good work.

@Moon_farie_2008: Please remember, this forum is for artists to receive critiques on their work: it's not an art exchange. If you do wish to gift the a person with art, it would be better to PM, or maybe participate in the Draw The Avatar Above You (DTAAY) thread. It's also rude to post your own art in someone else thread, as it distracts from the original post.

I think the coloring is done really well and the details are great. Really good job.

I draw mostly chibi's too and I haven't gotten it completely, but I've learnt that making any accessories (like the hair pin) a little bit bigger than it would be in real life make it come across more like a chibi.

Also, I agree with Kupocake. Chibi's aren't suppose to just like a regular sized character. Think of it like children and adults.

Chibi is one of my main art styles. I do rather agree with what has already been said. I think the second stage is a rather good representation of a chibi. The third stage looks much to well proportioned. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. While proportions still apply (as said before, I think the top of your third stage is proportioned and the legs are not) chibi are supposed to have much larger heads. If you like the third stage and not the second maybe drifting away from chibi to a more middle ground would be best. Very nice color, I really like how you made the cheeks so bright! Lovely highlights as well. If you want to make the second stage more like the third I think a smaller head and more details may help with that.

Hope that helps. Sorry for the lack of order. xd
