Crystaline eyes moved across the icy surface with cool determination and calculation. It was colder than usual for this time of year and the ground that was once covered in lucious green blankets of grass was now taken over by the seasonal clouds of white puffy snow.It didn't bother Melanie much. She loved all the seasons equally, finding something to occupy herself with each turn. Today, she chose ice skating.
Melanie nodded, took a deep breath and took her first solid step onto ice. Her legs shook as she struggled to get her barrings but with the second step she became more sturdy, more confident that she would get the hang of it.
The humans seemed to capture a rhythum after only a couple of minutes, so why was it taking her so long?

Funny. It usually got warmer as it got closer to Spring... but then again, it was still a few months until the season started. Not like Auberon really minded either way, he just liked Spring because more Soquili were out. Also, he was able to do more challenging things when there wasn't snow on the ground.
Venturing away from his teepee, his spaded tail flicked behind him, making his way toward the lake. Along the way, he would take a large leap into a pile of snow, chuckling at the crunch it made and how he would sink some into it. Getting closer to the lake, his ears perked when he seemed to see another figure... on... the lake? Tilting his head, he quickly trotted over to see what was going on.

Just a little further... she chanted as she slide her hooves across the ice. I can do this...The sound of scuffing across the ice soon became the only sound she could hear as she slowly made her way from one side of the frozen lake to the other. It was such an axilerating feeling, not knowing if one minute you'll be standing and the next you wont. So far, luck was on her side and she hadn't fallen, but only time could tell what would happen.
The wind whipped against her face and caused her eyes to water slightly, she turned her against the chill and slowly made her way back to the shore. Tears remained at the sides of her eyes, stuck, she though as her vision remained blurred and she continued to blink to try and regain some of the vision she had lost. Mel skated, her hooves clanking and scuffing the ice as she went. With clearity so low, she missed the small root sticking from the ice, her back leg caught the tip and she tripped, her back legs skidding on the surprisingly cold ice. "Oh great.. just great.." At least no one was here to see her make a complete fool of herself. But on the other hand no one was here to help her get back up from this embarassing position. Her front legs were holding up her torso from the coldness below while her back legs slide under her.
"Now how do I...? Ermm..." She tried manuvering her back legs up and just ended up pushing herself closer to shore. Which, wasn't at all a bad thing, just not what she was trying to accomplish. "Okaaay..."

Soon enough, Auberon came to the edge of the frozen water, just in time to see the mare trip on the ice. He blinked some, watching her as she pushed herself toward the shore. The uni-kalona was curious on what she was trying to do, maybe it would be fun or daring enough for him to do himself.
With a flick of his spaded tail, he started to walk around the pond to where the mare was pushing herself to. He then called out to her. "Hey! Are you alright? Do you need any help?"

Melanie lifted her head to peer up at the voice at spoke so soothingly to her or it could have been the fact that any voice that heard her distress was comforting, because they could help her. At first sight the stallion approaching her seemed perfectly normal, until he got closer, and she notice the spiked tail that darted out behind him. Kalona. Her blood froze in her veins as her joy so quickly turned to fear, her body tightening as she refused to lift her head. That is what Kalona's liked, right? Submission. "I..." Her tongue became cotton as she tried to speak, to correct herself. Her heart raced, pounding against her chest. She continued to stare blankly at her hooves as she addressed him. "If it wouldn't offend" Still stuck in this position she was helpless, so she needed him, even if she didnt want to admit it. "I'm a bit stuck".

He moved closer to the mare, but still remaining on firm ground. Violet eyes glanced at the sheet of ice she was currently on. The uni-kalona couldn't tell how thick it was and didn't want to risk it cracking if he would to put his weight on it, as well as hers. So now, he had to come up with a way to help her up without stepping onto the ice.
Seeing her reaction to him and her words, he tilted his head. "Why would it offend me? I wouldn't have offered help if I didn't want to." He replied to her, taking only one cautious step onto the ice to get closer to her.
