Plot:
Classic fantasy RPG-although they call it a dark fantasy...with the 'good vs evil' notion as usual. Basically you play the hero who gets put incharge of uniting a nation in conflict against the oncoming threat another Blight which consists of creatures called darkspawn. They are lead by an archdemon, a dragon which may be an ancient god that has been tainted by these being.
It is time for the return of the Grey Wardens who are the only hope the world has.
Gameplay:
There are three races to choose from-human, elf, and dwarf.
From there you can decide there their class-warrior, mage, rogue and pick an origin.
Human Origins: Noble & Mage
Elf: Commoner, Dalish, & Mage
Dwarf: Commoner & Noble
Once that is done you can design your own character which offers a nice variety from make-up, tattoos, voices, designing character portrait, etc....and add a few attribute points as well as picking a couple skills to start with.
From there your story begins with your unique beginning, but no matter what you'll end up joining the Grey Wardens. From there you'll travel around taking up quests and gathering an army to fight against the darkspawn.
Party Members:
Alistair- The first member to join you and fellow Grey Warden. He has a fun sense of humor, but doesn't take kindly to be teased about his lack of inexperience in bed.....
*Can be romanced with a female grey warden character.
Morrigan- A shady female sorceress who is the second character to join you in your quest. She doesn't believe in love, but in the idea of 'survival of the fittest.'
*Can be romanced with a male grey warden character.
Dog- Obtained through a small quest at the beginning of the game or if you choose the human noble storyline. He can be useful in finding items in areas and licking up the blood on your armor....
*It's your pet dog....no romancing it.
Leliana- A chantry sister who you must find at the tavern in Lothering. She strongly believes in her faith which has helped her with a troubling past.
*Can be romanced by either gender.
Sten- A bronze-skinned Qunari giant who can be found in a cage in Lothering. He has a simple and blunt way of speaking that at times may be difficult to grasp at times.
*Cannot be romanced.
Wynne- A wise eldery mage from the Circle of magi who offer wisdom and comfort when you seek it. She joins you if you agree to help her save the Circle from a great evil
*Cannot be romanced.
Zevran- An elven assassin from Antiva who was sent to kill you. You'll encounter him on a random encounter where you are give the choice to either kill him of let him join. He is a consist flirt but amusing non the less.
*Can be romanced by either gender.
Oghren- A very drunk dwarf.....I'm not sure what else to say.
*Cannot be romanced.
Shale- A golem that is only available through downloadable content. I don't have it yet but from what I've seen on youtube....he/she is hilarious. Not in the actual way of trying to be funny but....Shale has a strong hatred for birds and thinks itself suprior for being made of stone.
*Cannot be romance.
Loghain Mac Tir- A character you can gain towards the end of the game.....but you have to give up Alistair.
*Cannot be romanced.
Be warned that if you don't take time to get to known your party or make choices they don't approve of they may end up leaving or betraying you.
Battle System: Quite nice. You can set up tactic slots for members (sort of like FF12's gambit system). Also when you're trying to find a spell or skill to use the game pauses so you don't get killed.

9/10
Good: Lovely graphics and storyline....but it was the great dialogue that got me.
Bad: Lags at times.....and at times strange things happen such as getting locked in a room and unable to get out, a delayed scene, or repeated scene....
Final Word: The game is worth it despite some problems. I have it on the PS3....I'm not sure if there are similar promblems on the other systems. Still....even with the promblems I've played through this game....um...a lot..... >.<
I am also jumping on the Alistair fan wagon.....he's too bloody adorable!! I heart him!
Also there are some actors that have voiced some of the characters....
Tim Curry ((if you don't know him....that is sad.))
Kate Mulgrew ((you would know her if you're a Trekie...))
Claudia Lee Black ((Farscape...she voices Morrigan))
Steve Valentine ((Crossing Jordan-he played my fave character on the show too!.....he voices Alistair *pounces*))
