The sun was starting to edge is way across the horizon causing the new fallen snow to glow with an orange hue. The small black mare’s eyes began to flutter open as another bird from the tree above started to tweet its voice in a glorious song. She had to admit she could have lived without the singing but at least morning had seemed to roll itself around again for another day and the darken sky that had appeared before was dissipating. Stretching out her stiff muscles Cerys started to perk around the tree in search of something to snack on but not even a small n** of green grass was buried underneath the blanket and as another grumble seemed to echo through her stomach she needed to find something to snack on soon.
Picking her way through the larger sifts of hills to avoid sinking in too far and hurting herself the mare made her way to the iced edged river that she had seen the night before. Surprisingly she started to hear the small wisps of the flowing water at last for once she was able to head in the right direction usually she would have to spend half the morning trying to find something like the river, lake, or even a small puddle in the middle of the forest. The hardest part was actually finding a bit of water that hadn’t completely frozen itself over and large enough for her to at least plunge her muzzle in. There was some days she even lacked the luck of finding anything and ended up resorting to eating tuffs of clean snow but it took so much snow to quench shat she needed.
Reaching the clearing she looked around in search of anyone else or anything in that matter was there with her. Seeing it clear Cerys proceeded to the water and took in a deep gulp of the chilling substance that settled heavy into the bottom of her stomach. She still needed something to eat.

Shaking his head in an attempt to clear his head of its fog, Kildegard looked about him with an eye both scrutinizing and disoriented. Nothing but trees and snow met his gaze, trees that were bare against the colorful morning sky and snow that was, for the most part, pristine and unbroken. Turning slowly, he looked around him for his own tracks, finding them and seeing them disappear into the trees. Shaking his head again, he glanced around once again before resigning himself to the bare facts of the matter.
He was, once again, lost.
But given that he was often lost, he wasn't going to let that bother him. Instead, he was going to worry about the more immediate concerns of food and drink. He didn't know how long he'd been out of it, but a pronounced growl from his stomach was enough to tell him it had been a while.
Pawing at the ground with a front hoof, he first tried to see if he could reach any grass. Failing in that, he cocked one ear to confirm that the soft noise he was hearing was a river, then directed his steps that way. He could do with a drink, then forage freshly hydrated!

Sniffing the ground the black mare finally managed to find a small patch of moss like glass to nibble on however the taste in itself was horrible. Wrinkling her nose she continued to munch on what she found before the bitterness began to sink horribly into her stomach. Shaking her head with a shiver creeping down her back Cerys dodged back to the small river to take another gulp to dissipate the taste. So far winter was not the pleasing to her at all. Compared to the sweet delicate taste of ripen apples, sweet grass, and nibbles of wild vegetables during the other seasons the winter was certain was the worse to all. There were questions to ask to her dear sister whom somehow seemed to adore the large bounds of snow and had been looking forward to it since the first leaf had fallen from the tree. Moving away from the river Cerys started to look for anything buried beneath the tall looming trees, even a half frozen rotten apple core seemed much more appealing than the half mossy like grass that she had attempt earlier. But to her luck nothing came up just a few half rotted out shells of nuts that had fallen and never found by the small chipmunks that happily ran from tree to tree. Pausing she looked at the river again it was probably not a good idea to move too far away from it knowing that if the day continued as it has she would need something for tomorrow to satisfy the even larger hunger. She continued on her way near the river picking around for the scent of well anything before her ear’s picked up a snaps of small branches snapped underneath weight.

"Hello!" Kildegard's voice was cheerful, responding to the mare's query with pleasure even before he had actually come into visual range. In the course of his travels, coming to in strange places had become an accepted reality, and it was only to be expected that there would be other Soquili in those strange places. He knew full well that it was only good fortune and fate that he had yet to encounter any seriously dangerous situations, but didn't let concerns about the personality of the Soquili he encountered ruin the opportunity to be social and get his bearings.
Well, almost. On a few occasions he had 'met' someone had actually encountered him before; the new meeting always proved uncomfortable for Kildegard simply because he was good at being offensive when spaced out. For some reason Soquili didn't like it when they tried to be nice and were completely ignored...
But those little snafus aside, Kildegard enjoyed the opportunity to meet the locals. Current circumstances made meeting a local even more desirable; with any luck, said local would know where he could grab a bite after his drink. Assuming he could find said local...
