The night was beautiful, but unfortunately it was also just a bit too cold for Ezra. Polecat sighed, snugging him closer to her chest. Her adopted child had many strengths, but cold-weather resistance wasn't one of them. Ah, well. Even though he wore out easily in the cold, he had certainly enjoyed looking at Barton's Christmas lights.
Her intended Christmas light sightseeing tour brought to a premature end, Polecat shuffled along through the snow. The Stationary Shop was close by, perhaps she could stop in and let Ezra get warmed up before venturing back out into the cold.
Ezra, meanwhile, wasn't thinking much at all. He dozed off in Polecat's arms, watching the people and lights flicker by. He didn't know too much about this Christmas business, but it sure was exciting. With a sigh, he closed his eyes and leaned into his mom. He wasn't quite as tired as she thought he was, but it wasn't too often these days that he could convince her to carry him. Might as well make the most of it.

Polecat, trudging on through the snow, didn't even notice the child trailing behind her. She was getting uncomfortably cold herself, and was worried about more important things (for example, whether or not cocoa could be found in the Stationary Shop) than people following her.
It was Ezra, peeking over Polecat's shoulder for a second look at an interesting display of Christmas lights, who noticed the girl. Surely she wasn't following them... was she? He flicked his tongue out at her, confused. The girl's scent reminded him of his fellow Tales, but something about her appearance was... unusual. She seemed dangerous. Drawing his head back and blinking, he smacked Polecat on the side of the head.
"Hey!" she yelped. "Quit it, you little..." Her voice trailed off as she looked behind her at Ezra's urging. Oh. A girl. She seemed a little strange, but then, so did plenty of people in Gaia.
"Hey, kiddo, what're you doing wandering around alone?" she asked, kindly. Probably the girl had gotten distracted looking at the lights and wandered off from her parents.

Tiwaz smiled “Hi I’m not alone I’m with my mom she’s just somewhere else right now.” It was fun walking around without her mom explain everything to her she got to experience it for herself. “Hey how do you do that cool tongue thing I want to do stuff like that ” she asked the strange boy.
Talon spotted now familiar black wings with silver and raced through the crowd towards them “ oi Tiwaz you little hellion what have I told you about strangers.”

Polecat smiled back warmly. "You should stick closer to your mom in these crowds... there are a lot of weirdos around, y'know." Hearing the other woman's voice, she straightened up slightly. "Is that your mom there?" She turned her smile on the harried-looking woman now racing towards them and waved cheerfully.
Unlike Polecat, Ezra was not so charmed by the strange girl... or Tale, as she seemed to be. Something about her smelled unfamiliar and unpleasant, even though she was acting nicely enough. He was tempted to simply turn away and ignore her in the hopes that she would leave herself, but then the realization hit him that if he acted like that then he was no better than... well, then all the bullies who had made him feel left out before.
Swallowing his alarm, Ezra smiled at the girl and flicked his tongue out again. "It's 'cause o' my magic snake powers. Well, 'm not really a snake, but I can do some snakey stuff. See?" He yawned hugely to demonstrate, in a way that only someone gifted with a snake's flexible jaws could manage. Normally he kept his sharp-fanged mouth firmly shut in front of others, but something told him that he wouldn't frighten this girl.
Feeling a little bit better, Ezra leaned over to look at her more closely. "I like your wings. The swirly bits're pretty."

Polecat's smile widened at Talon's words. "Appeared out of a book? This wouldn't happen to be a book in Huni Pi's Stationary Shop, would it...?" She looked down at Ezra fondly. "It just so happens I got my kid here out of a book also. If we're talking about the same book... well, for me, a whole bunch of stars appeared instead of sheep." She sighed in remembrance. "Weird place, the Stationary Store. My name's Polecat, by the way. And this little dude is Ezra."
Though apparently oblivious to the adults' conversation, Ezra frowned slightly as his suspicious was confirmed. So this girl was a Tale, just like him! This new knowledge just served to puzzle him more... he had never gotten such a strange vibe off of a fellow Tale before... not even Tybalt, whom Ezra hated as much as it was possible for him to hate anyone.
She wasn't behaving in a threatening manner, though. She seemed rather nice. "I met some other Tales with wings before," Ezra said. "Some of em ain't too nice. But I never seen you around before." He paused, a bit saddened. "O' course, I been gone for a long time, so there's a lot of new people I dun met yet. M'Ezra, by the way, if you din't hear my mom say it."

“ I Dunno anyone named Huni Pi but I did meet a Linneas at stationary shop maybe she’s the mom he mentioned.” Talon mused over the fact that she had likely met another study lure victim” I’m Talon and it’s a pleasure to meet both you and Ezra” . A cold breeze caused her to shiver despite her warm fur lined coat. “ Is there anyway we can continue this conversation somewhere warmer I’d like to talk to you a bit more if you don’t mind’.
Tiwaz curtsied to Ezra, the strange snake like boy was rather interesting. “ Nice to meet you Ezra”” she said . “ I’m Tiwaz my mom told me my name is an ancient rune for warrior though I Dunno what I’m supposed to be fighting for” she said. a strange look entered her eyes and they darkened as strange shadows passed through their crimson irises.

"Hmm... I'm pretty sure Linneas is Huni's child... though he's not exactly a child any more, is he?" Polecat nodded at Talon's suggestion. "Speaking of the Stationary Shop, it's not too far from here. That's where Ezra and I were headed when we ran into you two. We can stop and chat there... and hopefully we can find some cocoa or something!" She gestured vaguely in the direction of the Shop, thinking longingly of its warmth.
At Tiwaz's mention of fighting, the corners of Ezra's mouth turned down in dismay. Fighting, he knew, was bad, but so many of his new acquaintances seemed to like it... He sighed, deciding to keep silent. There wasn't usually a point in trying to change peoples' minds.
"Nice t'meet you too, Tiwaz," he said, waving one mittened hand. "And I dunno what my name means."

Stifling a yawn, Polecat nodded. "I'm sure it's still open. In fact, I don't know if it ever closes at all." She set off beside Talon and Tiwaz, shivering. The slushy snow had begun to through her boots while she stood in the street. It was definitely time to get moving!
Ezra blinked at the other Tale thoughtfully. "I dunno nothing about names changing your energy. Anyways, why'd you have to change your name if you get married? M'mom never tole me anything about that before," he said, giving Polecat an accusing glance.
Tiwaz's discussion of fighting made him wince. "I dunno about fighting, neither. I don' like fighting," he said sternly. "But I'd help you if you got hurt, or with other stuff. I like to help people. 'S nice." Though he didn't attach much importance to names, the thought of his own name meaning 'helper' seemed to fit. Helping people was, after all, a good thing to do.

Polecat stepped in, pausing to kick the snow from her boots. "Nah, I don't think you have to worry. I've never heard of a Tale creating another Tale. Except for, well, maybe in the future, you know..." her voice trailed off and she rolled her eyes at the snake-boy held snugly in her arms. "Tales making babies is a scary thought, isn't it?"
"BRRRRRRRRRRrrvvvvvvv! Finally!" Ezra shouted happily as Polecat set him down on the floor of the warm store. Looking over at Tiwaz, he shrugged. "Dunno nothing about getting married." He thumped his tail boredly, looking around the empty store. Marriage wasn't a very interesting topic to Ezra, at least not at this point in his life.

Talon nodded " damn straight it is ,who knows what their combined genetics could create." She had to admit it would be somewhat amusing to see but she it still made her nervous. " I have to say thatMuch as i'd like her to be older and more complete I am enjoyign examinign her at this age while she's still learnign so much and developign her personality."
"Ok" Tiwaz dropped the topic and scanned the store for interesting things to do. Clutchign her orb in her left hand she pulled her right gloved off then covered the orb with her right hand. She wasn't sure why only that it felt right and she felt better beign able to touch it skin to crystal sometimes. " mm there's lots of paper here how bout we draw pictures i'll draw you and you can draw me?"

Polecat smiled. "I like my Ezra as a baby, too. He's so sweet now, it'd be a shame to see him get all 'teenagery'." She shuffled across the room and down the hallway to where she thought the shop's kitchenette was. She had never been there herself, but she had observed Huni emerging with refreshments once or twice before.
Turning his attention to the piles of paper, Ezra nodded. "Yeah, drawin' pictures is fun. I dunno if they got colors here though, th' last time I was here they only had pens." Moving to a nearby desk, Ezra swept his hand over the top, quickly finding a couple of old pens. He held one out to Tiwaz and picked up a piece of paper for his drawing.
