Fitzroy hummed happily to himself as he mashed buttons rapidly on the Mortal Kombat II machine, efficiently defeating opponent after computerized opponent. Although it had taken a little while for him to work out a technique that worked for his abnormal hands, now he was a smooth kombat machine, something that was only to be expected from the gaming geek. He did love soccer, don't get him wrong, but lately he'd been more inclined to simply sit, eat, and play. Chalk it up to laziness.
After a few more minutes, Fitzroy finally abandoned the machine, watching it get snapped up by two grungy-looking tweenagers with a little regret. There seemed to be very few machines open today. However, he was hungry, so maybe he could find one once he was done. Scooting into the food line, he continued humming to himself, a Chain Chomp keychain he had made just a few days ago twirling around his finger. He'd already gotten a few compliments on it that day, and he had to say he was very pleased with himself for coming up the with idea. Not that he thought that no one had considered this, but it still was cute and clever and stuff. So it was good.

Llujah smiled and walked through the dark room filled with bright colors and sounds. He managed to break away from the hand of his mother, who was busy on a video game herself, and the little spawn wandered the aisles of the arcade, looking for a fun easy game for him to play. The coins that his mother had given him bounced in the pocket of his skirt while he walked, and he kept one coin always in his hand, fingering the cool smoothness of it and waiting to find a fun game. As he browsed, he watched his feet to make sure that he did not bump into anyone while he walked. He looked around at the games and the people playing them, and his eyes rested on a strange looking boy walking away from one of the games. And on that kid's finger was a small keychain. Llujah's eyes widened. He needed that keychain. Right now.
Taking care to be careful as he wove around the other gamers and, at the same time, rushing to catch up to the weird looking boy, Llujah found himself near the food line. He stopped and looked around frantically, searching for the keychain... Oh. And the boy, too. Finally, he found the shape of the keychain and ran up to the boy, all the while keeping his eye on the object he desired. He pointed up to it. His finger was just out of reach. "Hey! Hey! Guy! What is that thingy on your finger? An' can I have it?"

Fitzroy was completely taken by surprise by the sound of the smaller... boy's voice somewhere around his chest, and he looked down with a surprised, but kind, smile, looking at the keychain and back at the the boy. "What, this? Um, yeah, I guess so..." Plucking the Chain Chomp off of his finger, he fastened it around the boy's wrist with a small twinge of regret. It was silly to feel bad about it - it's not like it had taken a lot of work - but he had liked it. But then, it must have been really good, since other kids wanted it, so it was something to be proud of.
Feeling a little better, he smiled down at the boy. "Would you mind giving me your name in return, little boy? I'm Fitzroy," he offered with a two-mouthed grin.

Llujah smiled greedily as the keychain was fastened around his wrist. It was heavier than he expected, but he wanted it. And now it was his. The key itself was round and black, and appeared to have two eyes and a big mouth with bigger teeth. It was slightly weird looking, but Llujah liked it nevertheless. He smiled at the strange boy who had given the charm to him. "Thanks! It's really cool-lookin'! But what is it?" He peered at the keychain on his wrist once more, turning it over and examining it. "It's kind of weird looking. Like it has a big ol' mouth and stuff." He looked up and right in front of him was a large mouth on the boy's stomach. "Kind of like the mouth on your tummy."
"Fi.. Fist... roy? That's a weird name!" Llujah giggled a little and shoved the coin in his hand deep in the skirt pocket alongside the other coins. "My name's Llujah. It's spelled kind of weird. ...I don't know how t' spell it, but my momma says that it's real special and stuff." Llujah smiled back at this "Fistroy" and held on tight to the keychain on his wrist.

Fitzroy smiled warmly at the smaller boy, his relative cuteness quickly overriding any part of him that was spurned by the boy's obvious greed. Bending down, he happily explained his creation. "It's a Chain Chomp. It's a monster from the Mario Games. It usually tries to stretch out along the chain and eat you up, though in some games you could set it free." He smiled a little nervously, afraid that he was giving away too much information. "A good idea for a keychain... bracelet thing, don'tcha think?"
He laughed at the boy's comparison of the trinket to Pac-man, and he gave the tummy-mouth a few affectionate pats as it gnashed its jaws happily. "Heh, yeah, I suppose so! Though I've always though that he looks more like Pac-man. That's his name, by the way; you can let him nibble your fingers if you want. He won't bite hard, don't worry."
Fitzroy laughed again, both at the reaction and the mispronunciation of his name. "Llujah? That's a really pretty name, for sure, though I don't know if I know what's special about it..." He shrugged. "So, Llujah, what are you doing here? Do you like video games too?"

Llujah looked at the "Fistroy" curiously and then looked at the charm on his wrist. As he got a closer look at it, he did somewhat recognize it from the games that his momma played. "Yeah, it kinda looks like somethin' that was in a game my momma plays. It doesn' really look like it totally, but it's pretty good!" Llujah smiled at the older boy. He was strange looking, but he gave him something. Which automatically meant that he was all right in Llu's book.
The little boy looked at the older kid's mouth on his tummy and he smiled happily at it. "Pac-Man? I know that game! It's real real fun! My momma plays it a lot! I can't win it, though." Cautiously, Llujah reached out his small hand to the mouth and petted it. It felt strange, and the teeth looked scary, but the little boy soon relaxed and was petting Pac-Man happily.
Llujah smiled up at "Fistroy." "Yep! I really like my name!" He started shifting from one foot to the other, trying his hardest to stay in one place to talk to this nice older boy. "My momma says that it's part of a weird word called... halle.. 'hallelujah.'"

Fitzroy smiled pleasantly as Llujah critiqued his artwork, not really minding the criticisms. After all, it showed him what he needed to work on; if you think about it, they were almost worth more than compliments!
The older boy giggled as Pac-man enthusiastically nommed Llujah's fingers, the odd sensation having become a little unfamiliar. His demeanor brightened a little at the news that the other boy's mother played Pac-man, and he patted his head. "Yeah, Pac-man's really old, so it's hard. Games didn't have super-good graphics way back then, so they had to been super-hard to keep people interested." He smiled conspiritorally and leaned down to fake-whisper near Llujah's ear, as if divulging some great secret. "I've never even got past level five, myself."
Fitzroy blinked in surprise when Llujah explained the significance of his name, and grinned a little. "Wow, that's awesome. Your momma was right, that's definitely a special name. 'Hallelujah' is a very powerful word to some people."

Llujah grinned. This "Fistroy" was so cool! He didn't exactly have pretty clothes, but he gave Llujah something and that's what mattered! And besides that, he had a mouth on his tummy! The toddler giggled as the mouth nommed on his fingers and he petted the mouth enthusiastically. His small tail quivered and twitched violently in his excitement and Llu smiled at Fiztroy. "Mmhmm! I haven' really played it a lot, but my momma has. I've played it a little, an' I can't get past the f'rst level!"
Llujah pulled his hand from the tummy-mouth and wiped the drool off on his skirt while looking back up at Fiztroy. He didn't know that the word "hallelujah" meant a lot to some people. All he heard from his mother was that it was a special word from a long time ago. He smiled. "It is? I don't really know a lot abou' that kinda stuff. My momma, she said tha' it's a special word from a long, long, long, long, long time ago!"

Fitzroy laughed quietly at the tickly feeling of Pac-man getting petted, and ruffled Llujah's hair. This kid was ridiculously cute. He smiled brightly when he heard of Llujah's accomplishment, and stuck out his fist. "Awesome! That's really good, Llu. Oh, uh, just bump my fist with your's. It's like a high-five," he said with a slightly embarrassed grin. It sounded a lot less cool when you had to explain it...
His ears flicked as he nodded, trying to think of how to explain the significance to a toddler. "Yeah, it really is. It's used to praise God and stuff. Lots of religious people use it a lot. But everyone can use it." he finished with a grin.
Turning, Fitzroy noticed for the first time that the line he had been in had progressed, and that he was now second. He looked back at Llujah with a smile. "You hungry, Llujah? I'll get you something, if you want."

Llujah giggled and squirmed slightly when Fitzroy ruffled his hair. He liked this older boy a lot! He was.. so cool! Plus he gave things to Llujah, which made him even better. Llu's tail twitched with excitement and he looked at the boy's fist. After a few seconds, he nodded, made a tiny fist with his hand, and bumped it against Fitz's hand. It felt kind of weird, but that matter didn't trouble the little toddler.
Llujah looked at Fitzroy curiously. "God? Reli...gee-os? Wha's that? I nev'r heard my mama talk 'bout that stuff. Bu' I t'ink that I heard her say tha' a lot of people use it an' stuff." The toddler nodded in an all-knowing kind of way.
The toddler's eyes followed Fitzroy and he saw that the line had indeed shortened. He perked up and grinned at the older boy when he heard that he would get something for the toddler. "R-really? No foolin'? Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I want stuff! Can you get me some stuff?!" Llujah began bouncing on his toes, his small wings fluttering and his tail twitching furiously in his joy.

Fitzroy bounced slightly in his shoes when Llujah bumped his fist correctly, a silly grin spreading on his face. He had been a little afraid that the toddler wouldn't get it, and then he'd have to explain it again, and by then it would have been so awkward that it wouldn't have been worth it anymore. But no, that hadn't happened. Yay.
He puffed out his cheeks and blew out the air when Llujah asked about religion, tongue tempting fate by poking out of his sharp teeth as he thought on how to explain it. Pac-man imitated the expression, although with less finesse than his master. After a bit, Fitzroy shrugged and smiled gently at Llujah. "Mm, don't worry about it. It's kind of complicated, especially for someone as young as you to get. You'll learn about it more when you're older, I promise."
Fitzroy laughed at the toddler's excitement over the proposal of food and ruffled his hair again. "Nope, no fooling." He approached and led Llujah to the counter, scanning over the prices of the food and comparing it to how much money he had. "Um, can I have two soft pretzels, a hot dog, three things of, uh, Reese's Pieces, and..." With an easy smile, he turned towards Llujah, missing the incredulous look he got from the concession stand lady. "What do you want, Llujah? You can get two or three things."

Llujah giggled madly as Fiztroy led him to the snack counter. There were so many yummy looking things... Llu wanted them all! They all looked delicious! He bounced on his toes in his slight frustration and wagged his tail back and forth. His eyes darted from one snack to another. There were hot dogs, pizza, pretzels, soda, candy... Llu dug into his skirt pocket and retrieved his money that his mama gave him. He had a bunch of quarters and about five one dollar bills. He pouted and took another look at the merchandise.
"Ummmm... I wan' tha' one, an' that one, an' tha' one, an' tha' one, an' tha' one, an' tha' one..." Llu began pointing at every snack he could lay eyes on and started pointing them out to Fitzroy. They all looked so good... How could he possibly decide?

Fitzroy couldn't help staring as the small boychild ordered what seemed like everything without regarding price or apparently even quality. Looking at the things he had indicated, Fitzroy did a quick mental calculation of the price, eyes widening as he realizes that Llujah had overstepped his budget by about three bucks, if not more. Clapping a hand over the toddler's mouth before he could order anything else, smiling widely at the rather-confused counter lady as he dumped the money on the counter. He scooped up the food and thanked the woman quickly before steering Llujah towards a table.
Once they were safely stationed at a table, Fitzroy released the younger boy, looking over the mass of stuff with an impressed chuckle. Eyeing Llujah's skinny frame, he asked with a great measure of doubt. "Are you sure you can eat all that, lil' man? You seem super-tiny..."

Llujah stared at all of the food that was being brought to them. He eyed them greedily and was about to order more when Fitzroy clamped a hand over his mouth. The little spawn glared at the older boy for preventing him from ordering any more food, but his anger subsided quickly as the two sat down to a table. Llu clambered onto the seat and swung his short legs underneath the table happily.
Llu looked over all of the food, eying each one individually. Now came the hard part: which one he would choose to eat first. He finally decided on a generous slice of greasy cheese pizza. Retrieving it with greedy hands, he began chomping down on it and stopped mid-chew to look at Fitzroy. "Mmhmm! I c'n ea' i' all! I' d'ne i' a lo' o' times!" The spawn spoke with a mouth full of half-chewed pizza and then looked down at Pac-Man on Fitzroy's belly. "Ca' Pa'-Ma' ea' too?"

Fitzroy couldn't help laughing at the gusto that Llujah ate, a gusto that usually he only saw in himself. Laughing harder at how his little friend spoke around his food, he picked up his hot dog, taking half of it down in one joyous bite. "Well, alright then! Just making sure; I don't wanna be responsible for giving you a stomach ache."
Fitzroy shoved the rest of the hot dog in his mouth and swallowed, grinning at Llu's question. "Oh, definitely. It's his favorite thing to do. Here, check it out." Reaching for one of his packages of Reese's Pieces, Fitzroy held it in front of Pac-man, who licked the air experimentally before reaching out and practically inhaling the entire box, chomping on it joyfully. Fitzroy looked back up with a grin in his eyes. "See? You wanna try, Llu? He's not gonna bite you, I promise."
