Its going to be a long post, so prepare youself ><
Here's the thing, I love Lady GaGa, and the more songs I listen, and the more stuff I find out about her, the love only grows and grows D: but all my friends hate her...
Ok, its fine, I dont have to listen to her next to them, but its still annoying, hearing so many criticisms about her with no clue what to say to defend her. They say she sings with special effects and has no voice whatsoever, I say, no way, she sings playing the piano with no effects and her voice is amazing. Others say they dislike her voice, others say that I should hear real music instead, others say she's a freak. And the critic that got to me the most was saying that she was just some girl who everything she does is to get more and more famous, that she has no such thing as a good heart and cares nothing about her fans, all she wants is profit and fame, and that she's a disonest cynic.
I mean, I have my own head, I don't need to know what everyone thinks to form an opinion of my own, if anything, these critics made me like her more, but its still hard to hear stuff like that, I mean, you understand right? There's this rumour, that she took a fake p***s to that show, just so people would see it and start talking, to make her even more famous. This rumour leads to EVERYTHING she does is to get more and more famous. It kinda makes me sad.
And most of these things were said by my bf, which is just stupid. Gah! I dont know if I explained myself well enough, but I'm still p*ssed off D:

I was in a couple similar situations with my friends a while back. Not about Gaga though, but with other artists/bands I like. You should tell your friends that they are entitled to their opinions, but they shouldn't bring you down for liking what you like. Weather it be Lady Gaga or whatever. If they can't respect that then you should seriously re-evaluate your friendships. You shouldn't be ashamed of what you like, or have to change to please someone else.
Most artist use effects on their voice except when singing a cappella or acoustically. I've seen Lady Gaga sing Speechless with just a piano. Believe me her voice was amazing and she was using zero effects. What "real" music do your friends want you to listen to instead? I'm sure you could pick apart what ever they claim is "real." At least Lady GaGa writes her own music, plays an instrument, and sings live every time with zero lip syncing.

Same here.
All I ever hear is "That Lady GaGa is soooooo ugly!!! She wears all this make up and when you take off the make up she is the ugliest!!"
or "I saw a video of her with a p***s!!!!! She has a p***s!!!!"
or "Oh man that stupid song Bad Romance is on the radio again! I hate that song!"
or just "I hate that Lady GaGa!!!!!!!!"
And well as you guys have said, that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however I find it incredibly heartless to be dissing and saying bad things about someone you don't even know or haven't met. I mean, if they had met her and she was a b***h to them then yeah I could understand but like, next time I hear someone say something bad about her I will say "Excuse me, don't you have anything else in the world better to talk about than her????" Because I don't understand why people waste their breath on saying mean things about her. I mean, no one has to praise her, but to insult her for no reason at all is pointless and rude. And the people who are calling her ugly aren't exactly pretty at all. I will say "Look at yourself in the mirror sweetheart, you aren't exactly the prettiest thing in the world yourself now."
