So yeah, lately I've started wondering about pregnancy, probably because I'll be going to college soon, which means marriage isn't that far off. I was wondering if any of the women who've gone through it could just tell me some about what it's like or their experiences or whatnot. Assuming that's not too personal of a thing to ask about.

I don't have any personal experiences or information to share with you, what with me being 15, a virgin, and without interest for children. xd But there's a Parent's Guild here on Gaia that will be able to provide you with what you want and http://www.babycenter.com/ should be helpful as well.

I've had a miscarriage, so I guess I could tell you what the first few weeks are like.

Physically, it..
sucked. It sucked royal a**.
My breasts were sore. It hurt when I slept. It hurt to wear clothes. It hurt when people LOOKED at 'em.
And then there were backaches and the like. Just minor aches and pains.

If thats any help.

*appears from a cloud of smoke* I haven't been here in awhile, so I'm popping in various threads and leaving my two cents ^_^

Pregnancy can be a lovely experience, as well as a tiring/emotional one. You go through a LOT of physical changes, from your brain shrinking and you becoming rather stupid *I WISH I was kidding*, to your eyes changing shape and not being able to wear your contact lenses, to your nose expanding a bit *nothing like pinochio mind you, but it tends to look a little swollen...well for me anyway sweatdrop * and of course there are the known changes: your tummy getting big, your hips getting wider, your breasts growing big and becoming tender...it's a very fatiguing thing to go through. The nausea and constant need to pee that you experience while you're pregnant and the engorged breasts and hemmoroids *yes I know, too much info but there you have it* you receive after you give birth were the symptoms I TRULY did not enjoy, oy.

But bringing a child into the world is a fufilling experience. Granted, not all people are meant to have children or particularly want one, but if you're up for the idea of having a child, just be sure to educate yourself by reading various books about the subject of pregnancy *one of the best is: What to expect while you're expecting*, talk to your doctor about any questions you have, eat well and enjoy the fact that you're preggie biggrin

I've been pregnant twice... ok, let me rephrase, I've had two children, and more miscarriages than I care to count. So, I'll only talk about the ones that went full-term. 3nodding

They were really different both times. With my first one, I didn't even know I was pregnant till I was 4 months! I still had my moon cycle like clockwork every month, no tenderness, nothing. The way I found out was at what would have been around the middle of the 3rd month, I developed mild flu-like symptoms that didn't go away (little did I know!) so after a couple weeks of it, I went to the doctor and he insisted on giving me a pregnancy test, even though I told him there was NO WAY I was.... famous last words. Even after finding out, it wasn't until about the middle of the 5th month that there was any change. I wasn't even showing at all. Then.... month 6 hit. I gained over 100 pounds between month 6 and 9. I was so swollen my dad had to give me a pair of his moccosins (sp?) that he's added cord to to make them bigger because I couldn't fit in shoes. The only clothes I could wear were things like mumus and those big, airy dresses that you can fit a small bus into. I hurt, I couldn't lay down comfortably, but sitting up hurt and standing was out of the question. I was finally put on doctor ordered bed rest at month 8. It felt like I lived in the bathroom because all I could do was pee! Finally, on the day I was due, they put me in the hospital. My water broke that night... they had weighed me about half an hour before it happened, and after it was done (it took away), I was 45 pounds lighter! They induced labor the next day and after 18 hour, realized he hadn't even dropped and did an emergency C-section. But I have to tell you, as rough as all of it was (and trust me, it was hell)... none of that mattered when they placed that tiny (not so tiny: 10 lbs, 15.25" head) baby in my arms. All that mattered was him. Well, that and the morphine they gave me. That mattered too 3nodding

With my second, I still didn't have a clue till about 3 months in (I think I'm weird on that, but I don't know). Then, it was more like what I hear a "normal" pregnancy is like... morning sickness, breast soreness, more steady weight gain instead of BOOM all at once. I had to have a C-section with her too, partly because of some complications with the pregnancy, but mostly because of how my first one had been done. Though, from what I hear of a regular delivery, I'd want a C-section anyway! I was up and walking the next day.

My mom had 5 and swears that, aside from some relatively universal things, there's really no way to say what it's like because it's usually just so different for everyone, and even for the same person at different times. *shrugs* Saew and I have decided we aren't having any of our own, so it's not something I'll be going through again (at my age, that's probably for the best though).
