Best Friends!!A Fuzzy Slipper Game! Oliver & Dodger (Oliver and Company) and Todd & Copper (The Fox and hte Hound) are stories of unlikely friendships. Duos that shouldn't be together and yet are the best of friends who depend on each other. The point of this contest is for you to tell us your own stories of friendship. They can either be personal narratives of your own experiences, OR they can be anecdotes (however, if you use an anecdote, it MUST be written in you own words, and you must say where you got it from). There is no word limit, but there is the standard warning of if your story is particularly long and hard to get into, we may not read it all the way through. Judging will be based on writing, "aww factor", and originality. When you submit your entry, please also include your preference on which pair you would like in the event that you win smile Basic Rundown:Prize: First Prize: Pick of Todd & Copper or Oliver & Dodger! (see above) / Second Prize: Remaining duo The Pairs can either be kept by the same person and certed together, or you can choose to give one away to a friendCost: Free! Deadline: January 31, 2010, 8pm CST

About 5 years ago, when I was into Living Dead Dolls, I met with a guy named "Zack." After we got to know each other better, I found out that "Zack's" real name was actually Ashton ("Zack" was a name he used when he was younger and wasn't allowed to give out his real name). To this day, we continue to chat and RP. He's one of my best friends over the internet, and on Gaia. He's a great pixel artist, too. Just look here.I guess what I wanna say is... Ashton, you rock. I know I can be pissy and emo sometimes a lot, and you continue to put up with it. Thanks. <3 (Trying for Tod and Copper.)

Actually, my story is kinda similar to Oliver and Dodger, only without the whole crazy story of the movie.
My dog and my cat both gave birth at around the same time (my cat had kittens first, then two days later my dog had puppies). Which was a complete surprise to us because we didn't know that my cat was pregnant. So our house got pretty crazy for a while with two new puppies and one new kitten running around plus our dogs and cat.
Basically as they got older, they loooved to play with each other constantly which consisted of the puppies chewing on my kitten's head (they were a little larger than the kitty) and my kitten pouncing on them from some secret location when they didn't notice. They always slept and ate together and never left each other's side.
But the time came when my dad had no choice to give away the puppies (one to my friend, and the other to one of his coworkers). The day that they both left, my kitten seemed to be heartbroken. He was constantly waiting by the front door, scratching and meowing at it at the most pitiful way. He didn't want to eat, and his face had tear streaks over it. For the next few days, he slept by the front door, probably expecting them to come back.
My friend, feeling bad for the kitten, brought back the puppy for a visit one day. Both the puppy and the kitten were thrilled to see each other. For the next three hours, the kitten refused to leave the puppy's side and just kept purring and rubbing up against the dog.
So now, my friend and I we make sure that we let our dog and cat meet each other frequently. To this day, they are the most adorable fluffball duo I have ever seen. <3

Over the years that I've had my dogs, there are a few things I have trained them to do, but what I didnt expect was the dedication. I trained them to be gentle and not go after anything small or moving, which can be a feat with herding dogs. Now, they can still heard, so its dirrected towards certin things. I run an unofficial rescue for small animals and reptiles, as well as cats that I've done in the past. One summer I rescued 28 kittens and a pregnant mama with her 2 kittens. Draco, my mini aussie helped me raise and socialize the cats. He would clean them, play with them and keep them out of trouble. He loves cats and other dogs. If he sees a kitten, he will 'talk' and whimper until we let him go and visit. Here's a video of him with one of my cats that was a rescue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yehf4RM5zqoMy girl, Pheonix does the same with cats, but once they get to playfull, she passes them on to Draco. She on the other hand wants to take care of the small animals. I recently rescued 2 pregnant guinea pigs, everytime they make a noise, she's right there making sure they're ok. When there out she lays a few feet away and watches them the entire time, occasionally going over to lick the face and back before resuming her post. She does the same when my rats have babies. Always there, wanting to clean the babies. The cats were raised around small animals and know not to hurt them, we've even found them in the cages, no incidents. if they're out and about though and the cats go near them, pheonix will walk between them and if they dont listen she'll even bare her teeth. I dont know what I'd do without the two of they're help (trying for oliver and dodger but would be happy with Todd and copper as well)

I am telling a tale from my youth to try for Tod and Copper!
When I was a little girl of about four years old, I was an... awkward child, to say the least. We'd just moved from Chicago, where I'd had the best time. I had great friends in my Mommy and Me playgroup, and every weekend, my parents would take me to the aquarium- my first word, I kid you not, was octopus- or the zoo, where I'd fall over laughing at the rhinos snorting in the mud or the penguins. During the week, Mom would take me to the library, and we'd pick out a chapter book for her to read to me, or a big book of fairy tales or something that didn't seem 'babyish' to me. I'd had to leave all that behind for seemingly no good reason and go to live in a small town where my neighbors kept rabbits- to kill for their meat. There were very few children in the neighborhood where we lived, and the ones that did live there teased me about my accent or told me all about how their daddies went hunting and killed animals. Even when I was a little kid, I hated the idea of hunting- how could you actively hurt an animal? My parents didn't have all the time for me that they'd had back at home- Mom had just given birth to my sister. And being shy as I was, I didn't make friends quickly at all. I just buried myself in my books and stayed in my room. Until I met Zeus.
Zeus wasn't his real name; I never learned that until I was quite a bit older. All things considered, I'm not really sure how we became friends; I guess it was just because he seemed nice and I was lonesome. I first met him when my parents were landscaping around the outside of the house and I was helping them plant flowers. My parents told me he was older than me, and from what I could tell, he was just as shy as me. He didn't say much, but I didn't care. I liked him, and decided he was my friend. The rest of that summer, I didn't read in my room at all. I went outside and played with Zeus. We did all kinds of things together- picnics, playing in the sprinkler, tea parties, those little one-act plays that little kids like to put on, that sort of thing. I read to him from my mythology books and gave him red kool-aid- his favorite. Eventually, my parents noticed how much time I was spending with Zeus, and when school started, they told me that I should find some girl friends to play with. But that didn't happen. I was still a proud Chicagoan, and just like the kids on my block, the girls in my kindergarten class made fun of my accent, too. They thought I was weird for already knowing how to read, and although the teacher tried to help, I even had issues with her. While she let me read more complicated books, she also called me a liar when I knew things she wasn't sure of- like on B Day, where we each had to come up with a word that began with B. Mine was baleen- that ridged stuff that hangs down in the mouths of some whales. What I am trying to say is that school wasn't easy and that I was lonely. Until I came home to Zeus. He knew that baleen was real; I'd told him about it. He didn't think I was weird for reading; I'd been reading to him all summer. He liked my accent. And so for about two years, Zeus was really the only good friend I had.
And then we moved again, to a bigger house in a nicer neighborhood. Once again, I was devastated. It was Chicago all over again, only worse because I wasn't escaping my stupid elementary school. My parents assured me that it would be ok, but I knew that it wouldn't be. How could it be? I'd never get to hang out with Zeus ever again, even though we were still living in the same town. That, ladies and gentlemen, is because Zeus was a hemlock tree.
Eventually, I got over the loss of my friend the tree, just like I got over leaving my friends in Chicago. I made new friends with the kids in my new neighborhood, and slowly but surely, I lost the Chicago accent. I know it's silly, but sometimes when home from college, I drive through my old neighborhood, and I go extra-slow past my old house. The house has changed hands a couple of times, and it keeps getting slightly bigger, but he's still there, standing stoically on the corner, nestled between an azalea bush and a row of hollies. He looks good- nice and green, with thick needles. I take these drives on the windiest days that I can, so that it looks like he's waving, and I wonder if anybody's given him any red kool-aid recently.
Disclaimer: Yes, this is a true story. No, I'm not psychologically disturbed. It's just that little kids can be utter tools. Trees can't. And I do have human friends now.

I dedicate this post to my dear friend Amy. I don't know if this is the kind of thing we were meant to post. But when I think of good friends Amy always seems to creep up there on the list.
I met my friend Amy in Sunday school at church. I think I was about three or four. She was a normal ordinary girl like any other. We fought, laughed and played like any other friends do. Life was good, we both came from middle income families so we both lacked for nothing. We just floated along in life not really thinking about how hard life could be.
Then in the sixth grade during a lunchtime basketball game at school Amy fainted with a bloody nose. As I waited anxiously for news I had no idea how our lives were going to change.
For you see Amy was diagnosed with leukemia. It was very hard on everyone not just Amy. But she was a trooper. Sure she had her moments when she railed against the unfairness of it all. And I railed right along with her. But we decided we weren't going to give up without a fight.
And fight she did. She lived until she was 18 years old. Which is far too young but during that time she put everything she had into living. She taught me so much that has changed my life.
Amy you may no longer be with us but so long as there is someone who remembers your courage and strength your spirit remains alive and well. Wherever you are I hope you are happy and know that you are missed.
And I'd be happy with either pair, though I have a leaning toward Dodger.

I had just moved back to the states from Germany, my father was in the air force. We had a choice of four different assignments and my father picked Colorado, before we even moved we had already picked out the schools and the area to live. This was going to be fun. I was going to be in my last year of junior high and then it was off to high school.
My first day I got stuck with a girl with jet black hair and paper white skin. Infact I secretly called her Casper because she reminded me of the ghost. After a few weeks of being stuck with her as a lab partner I got to know her a little more and realized that she had also just moved here from Virgina, but before that she was in Korea. Well I was born there so we got to talking about it. After a while we became great friends. She and I were so much alike. We both plaid in the band, always trying to compete with each other to see who got what chair. We also took Korean Classes together it was great. But like all great things it came to an end. Her father moved and it meant a different school for her. I had to face my last three weeks of school all by myself.
After my "graduation" from junior high my father retired which meant moving one last time. I had kept in touch with my closest friend and when I told her I was moving she immediately flipped out. I was going to be near her and we would be going to the same school again! It was great, truly a match made in heaven. We got to spend two more years together before her father moved once more. He ended up retiring in Utah, which was a lot father from my small little patch of earth. I remember all the great times we had, the stories we wrote together the poems and songs written because we got bored. The languages we made up and the laughs we shared. Luckily I am able to still speak with her on a regular biases but, honestly she taught me what a good friend really was. Before her I had made it a point to make my friends so mad at me when I found out we were moving so it would be less hard on both of us, and I would lose track of those friends. But she was different she just wouldn't let me say no she would always be there to say "Oh but come on we were just separated at birth! You can't expect to get rid of me that easily"
And for that I'm grateful. ((I love both the pairs but if I have to pick I'm gonna pick Todd and Copper as my first choice))
