Cavalier: Zoisite, Cavalier of the East
Name: Bret Walters
Nicknames: B-man (though seriously.. Bret and Walters are very easy to say, so most people call him one of the two)
Age: 19 (Soverign Heights!)
Fav. Food: Hot wings, and big sub sandwiches dripping in stuff
Hated Food: Side salads and tiny portions
Hobbies:
Garage band "Me and some guys from school, had a band and we tried real hard" - Bret is the lead vocalist of a garage band called Deja Vu Too. He plays guitar a little when necessary (he's not bad, but he's certainly not that good either) but his true talent lies in his voice.
Whether his band is good enough to ever really go big is up for debate (they're more a cover band then one with original lyrics) BUT they do get a lot of little gigs at parties, picnics, weddings, and the occasional bar.
Quoting song lyrics - Bret has a muscial library stored away in his head, and he's not against tossing out a quote (or whole chorus) that fits the situation. Sometimes it's cute and charming, sometimes not so much.

Enjoying the company of the fairer sex "Girls, all I really want is girls." - Bret is a mans man and he likes the ladies, alot. Whether he's hanging out with groupies or bridesmaids, or digging up phone numbers in the park, Bret is rare to pass up an opportunity to flirt. He dates alot but has never had a single girlfriend more than a month or so.
Virtues:
Life of the party/Life IS a party "I wanna rock and roll all night, and party every day"- Bret is a bold, vibrant, playful, and carefree guy. If there is a good time to be had he WILL find it or make it. He can lighten up dark moments and is the sort to cut through tense moments and draw people together.
Silver tongue - He learned very early on that you catch more flies with honey then salt. A smooth talker, he attempts to get people on his good side and/or keep them happy.
Enthusiastic - Because he is such a vibrant personality he has a tendency to jump into things full force. While some of his passions might burn out quickly, while he's into something he is totally gungho and passionate. He's also the sort of guy to chat on for hours about how exciting something is (and try to get others to try it).
A good boy - Despite what music and many many songs have told him Bret remains all and all a pretty good kid. Sure his jokes get a little dirty sometimes, he's broken a couple hearts, and he's sipped a few beers in his lifetime, but deep down he's really a pretty sweet guy. He respects his mama, has decent manners, respects most forms of authority, and tries not to let people down. He may try to act like a 'bad boy' from time to time, but really he's not at all.
Flaws:
Juggling his priorities "You change your mind, like a girl changes clothes" - Bret can't help it if.. he just can't keep his mind on anything for too too long. He just wants to try everything and go with his whims. Hell.. his band might actually be somewhere by now if it weren't for him ditching practice and what not much to his bandmate's dismay. He's desperately tries to be there for people and his responsibilities when it really matters, but he bites off alot more than he can chew, and he's often berated about not being a little more serious/dedicated to ___insert subject here___
Hard to tie down/ Fear of commitment "You can't take me I'm free" - Like many a musician (or young teenage boy) Bret finds it hard to settle down with any one thing. Be it a girl, a hobby, a plan, whatever. Afraid of getting himself trapped in a place where he can no longer be himself (but still feel obligated not to say no) he skirts seriously tying himself down to anything whenever possible.
Attention/Affection hungry "I'm special, so special. I've gotta have some of your attention, give it to me!" - In the end all of his showmanship, charming, and attempts to please everyone come from a deep seeded need for attention. Without a spotlight Bret finds himself alone and empty. Though he doesn't say it aloud he is constantly seeking acceptance, attention, and approval of those around him.
Think with my heart, not with my head - Bret is emotional and passionate, someone who reacts on feelings far more often then on logic. It makes him do dumb, brash things which is especially bad when it's all based on a misinterpretation. When he's feeling extremely upset about something, he's hard to calm down and reason with.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Green-blue
Hair: Some shade of blonde (anywhere from platinum to dirty is fine with me, whatever works well with the other colors) in a style that is simple and a little messy. Like "Oh I just wake up with my hair lyke this biggrin "
I've always been fond of hairstyles like Sawyer or long haired Viral in case you don't understand my crappy verbal description.

Misc fun facts
~ Bret is not only named after Poison front man Bret Michaels, but he's also a total 80's baby (not literally of course, but in his heart and SOUL). He's pretty well versed in the popculture of music of the 80's, more so then any other single era.
~ Deja Vu Too is mostly a cover band so they play a lot of everything. 70's, 80's, 90's, modern stuff, mostly pop and rock.
~ Bret LOVES to play up the rock ballads, complete with bedroom eyes and skin tight pants.
~ Bret has punched 12 people in this lifetime. 7 of those times were complete misunderstandings (and completely undeserved).
~ Bret has been fired from his summer job for the past two summers, both times because of one too many "Oh s**t... I was supposed to come in today? My bad" phone calls.

Relevant symbolism
East
Eastern counties regard the east as a symbol of sincerity, love, compassion. Native america cultures often view it as a the direction corresponding to salvation and the spirit.
Bret is a very passionate, emotionally driven spirit. He is firey and full of life, happy to give his love and attention to anyone that will take it.
Summer (will edit if it turns out this is the wrong season)
Some people explain the lifecycles of people in seasons, childhood and adolescene corresponding with summer. It is a time of carelessness, excitement, and play. This fits Bret well as he is, and will likely be for a long time, very like a large child.
Summer is also said to symbolize harmony and contentment, both of which are his two greatest motivations/things he strives for.
The summer is warm and bright, but occassionally overwhelming. A time of relaxation and a time to explore and do something new and exciting.
Mercury
The actual element fuses well with other elements, which I thought was a fun connection to his need to be around/interacting with others. Some symbolism connected to the planet (that applies to Bret's personality) includes versatility, friendship, intelligence, inconsistancy, persceptiveness, and communication.
Zoisite in the past
Zoisite has always been an extremely passionate and vibrant personality. Clever and brash he would take want he wanted, sometimes at the expense of his own teammates. His drive to win often won out over his loyalty, but when he WAS working on the same side as his teammates his passion and cleverness were a valuable help. Zoisite was notorious jealous too, especially when it came to the attention of his captain.
Zoisite now
As a Cavalier I can see Zoisite being a bit of a pest to his fellow teammates. He'd need to be bugged about taking things seriously and about his priorities (and how this should be his #1). I could see him being scolded for leaping into things before thinking, or flirting with senshi and bad guys. However, when he puts his mind to it Zoisite would be an enthusiastic teammate and happily and loyally follow after his fellow Shitennou. He might be willing to pull a dirty trick or two like told times, but it would be against bad guys, not his teammates.
I specifically didn't want to take greatly from the past Zoisite's jealousy or vanity. I instead wanted to focus on the more lively and fiery personality that usually spawn those two things. If anything, I think past memories of how the jealousy and trickery led to his demise would only solidify his desires NOT to behave that way this time.
So I kind of traded off, by attempting to lose his jealous traits, his drive for power would also be lost, leaving the flighty personality behind.
Relationship with Kunzite
Zoisite recalls feelings of fondness towards his leader in the past. Whether they were feelings of love back then, he refuses to comment, BUT he happily blesses the fates that Kunzite is a female now, because it gives him free reign to harass her now. (aka - He will be a shameless flirt regarding the captain, probably at the most inopportune times)
Despite his silliness Kunzite's acceptance and approval remains that most important thing to him. She is the authority in his eyes, perhaps even more so than the prince. He will follow her loyally, do almost anything she asks of him, and attempt to help her reach her goals.
The Prince
He respects the prince, but there is little more than that. He's an authority figure in which his responsibility lie under. If he mets the future prince this might change, but for now 'Kunzite wants to save the prince, so lets go save the prince damnit!'
The Shitennou
They're TOTALLY a team now, and even if noone else wants anything to do with him, Zoisite defiantely craves group love. He'll feel a fondness to his fellow cavaliers much like Bret feels towards his band mates. All for one and one for all (even if he's the only one shouting/feeling it XD)Challenge: Zoisite -- Green

I can't place my finger quite on what's bugging me (either what I'm missing.. or what isn't meshing together, maybe he's just TOO good of a guy?) soooo.. absolutely feel free to pick stuff apart or offer suggestions!
Otherwise, I'll play around with it more when I get a chance/have had more time to think about stuff.

So... Might not be too much of a help here. xD However, one thing I do want to suggestion Wittingly Charming. >> Because you said you didn't know if Witty fit better than Charmer. You could somehow mix the two words. (i'm sure you'd do better than what I just did because you know I'm running about 3 hours sleep atm. XD)
I like the fact he likes to party and have a good time. Though I do think he'd get to be a little bit of a painfully sickening good guy. (You know the kind that you just end up wanting to smile at and nod while holding back a punch because you just /know/ he's going to screw up and throw in a dirty joke somewhere.)
However, it might be a good thing rather than actually bad bad. I've run into one of these "Hey look I'm an awesome sweet and caring guy." "I like to party." "And now that I've come off as being known as a gentleman I am going to piss you off with a really dirty joke that I should keep to myself. Then after you're mad at me and want to punch the living daylights out of me I'm going to come beg your forgiveness."
It does make for an interesting character. You just have to be careful how you play him 'cause the extent of the joke and how bad it really is, is how many characters might be rather pissed at him.
I, myself have told people before, I don't care if you have a habit of making dirty jokes and coming off as a sweet and caring guy. Just start making the dirty jokes before you get to be known as a sweet guy that isn't going to be making those sorts of jokes or I'm going to be mad at you. I don't mind cussing, I don't mind the occasional bad joke, but when it comes down to pure dirty, I know that I personally get mad at them, speically if I'm made the butt of that joke.
I shouldn't be writing crits when I'm on cruise on one thought mode. Basically, if you want to tune him down on the happy-go-lucky "I like to get along with people" a little bit, it wouldn't hurt and I don't think it'd hinder anything. However, I'd be interested to see him actually played close to this. (I have to admit when I was reading it, I was slightly reminded of Lucas. XD I was like... huhhhhhhhh now where have we heard "I like Womens" before.)
Also I like how you connected him to Mercury his "love interest" it's very interesting.
I also like the Fear of Commitment. I don't really think it's thought about that much.
I had a question but as I was writing it, it didn't make sense... sooooooooo.... Imma stop now.
I hope this helps some and wasn't all useless WTF ramble ramble. If it was I'm sorry IRIS! Like I said I shouldn't crit after only 3 hours sleep and on the constant move for the whole day. XD
OH OH OH !!! Have you figured out his challenge yet? Because I kinda like the "One For All And All For One" deal. Or maybe something reflecting this because it totally sounds like something he might say from what I've read of his character.
And I'm going to spare you and stop now.... heart I do hope some of this helped!

Thank you baby! biggrin It's nice to have some opinion, even if it is a late night brain dead one XD heart
Bret is definately not Lucas, there is a vague connection because a) a handful of people have mentioned needing more boy and girl characters that are loose with their love and willing to date lots of people and b) Polaris' prudeness is killing me (I'm sure you know I LOVE free love characters). XD
So while yes, he'll act like a dofus to try and impress a girl, and he does spend more time then he should trying to flirt with girls he is not nearly as cocky and he's actually quite gentlemenly. He's not going to play grabby grabby, or speak degradingly of them, and he's not going to say "lets get nasty baby ;D" (except maybe to Kunzite, just for lulz and to get a reaction).
That said, his jokes are never going to be THAT bad or intrusive. I still imagine alot of people really wanting to get angry at him like you mentioned (either for not being there when they need him, or for breaking hearts, or for being a silly goose when things are serious)
I hadn't put much thought into a challenge yet, but if they don't mind me using that I might. :3 It does indeed fit him, and would be kind of funny considering how it's TOTALLY a mirror opposite of old past Zoisite.

rofl and yes you have to have some "lovey dovey" character. x3 Polaris could be worse though, I'm sure.
Yeah, the joke thing was the only thing I was worried about really. Speically since it could occasionally get out of hand but as long as he's not going to be that bad....
If not that one for a challenge I'm sure there's something similar you can come up with. ^^

Changed charming to silver tongue because that's more along the lines of what I meant.
I imagine lots of people would find him entirely uncharming and annoying. XD But he has fairly good skills in talking people down and smoothing things over.
