I know lulu publishing makes you pay, but you can just buy one copy of your novel. That way, you can have a proper book to share out to friends and family and word will spread fast about your book.
Failing that, use
Authonomy, I do. They're an agent for HarperCollins, in a way. Basically, you can upload your novel chapter-by-chapter and you don't even need to have finished it, people will still read it (Mine got to No.16 in the Fantasy charts and I still haven't finished it). Then, at the end of every month, HarperCollins get the novels with the most backings (By other members), get a list of the top five and they get published. It works some way like that anyway
