This might just be a good idea for me. I hope that this will give me the medium I need to work through my tough knots and times.
First a little about my writing. I'm primarily a fantasy writer, but I've been toying with some thoughts of science fiction. I've been a fan of both genres for many years. My fantasy is mostly sword and sorcery, but I've dabbled with some modern settings as well.
I've wanted to be an author for many years now, but I never could finish any of my original stories. They fall apart or I lose focus because of my life getting in the way.
Currently:
I'm starting to build up a new world to set a new story in, but the idea is still really sketchy. I see it as a world of magic but I've had thoughts of some light tech as well.
I'm open to any questions or comments.

Welcome to the guild. I hope we can help you get your thoughts together. Ah, I do like writing fiction.. fantasy as well as sci-fi, with mixtures of most of the other genres going through them. I look forwards to seeing what you have going. Already I'm interested. I don't have any questions yet, except perhaps to please know more ^^'

Thank you for the welcome. Each day my mind seems to open just a little more to allow the reformation to begin. It's always nice to meet other authors, especially in my genre of writing.
I do mix the romance genre in, but it's always been more of a immature romance, like teen relationship terms. I do want to open that further, cause I'm not sure what audience I'm trying to write for just yet. I thought young adult/early teen but I'm not sure anymore. I've never really tried the other genres.

Well, my world idea has changed a bit. It's sword and sorcery like usual, but the magic system is a bit different. It's taking time to hammer it into something that makes sense. I'll post about it once it makes some more sense. There is no mechs like I first thought there might be.
Main character is a mage but the whole plot of the story is still up in the air. I have some ideas for that but they keep changing in small degrees.
This place is really helping to bring my creativeness back, Thank you all!

I was wrong. I actually looked up what sword and sorcery means on wikipedia and my writing is more a mix of high fantasy and sword & sorcery.
On the story front, it has died. I don't know happened but it has gone from a driving force to a small trickle. It's not writer's block, but i think it's more the reality is setting in on my world. I'm a planner when it comes to writing and i want a map to understand distances and such, but doing so has wounded my focus. Is this common to writers?

I haven't even worked on a story for the last few days. But I've decided I'm going to try to write something without my usual planning and see if that works to un-stick me.
I've had some new ideas for stories so I'm hoping something comes out. I really want to be able to post some progress soon.

This place might still have some help for me it seems. I saw the contest and wrote something. Doubt I'll submit it, but it helped to clear out some of the cobwebs. The prompt was: Drown your sorrows.

A miracle has been wrought. I'm actually writing a story again. And this shall be my first one to be tracked on here. I'm already almost done with page 2. I know it stand nowhere near what anybody else here has done, but for me, this is wonderful. I haven't felt like this in...years i think. Thanks for the support, even if nobody is paying me any attention.

Well, i have a story now. I just need to get the punt in the backside to write more. I think I just need a rhythm, but work is the problem there. I hope something works out.

I guess that story wasn't worth the time. It's died after two chapters. The idea i had for it changed and now it has no future. I would continue to write, but i have no idea of where to go. Can anybody help me figure out a way to revive it? Or should i just try to start a new story?

hmm when I forget where I'm going with a story I reread it, if that doesn't work I push it a side for a while and get back to it later... hope that helps

That does kinda help but what i mean is the idea that i had for it no longer works or maybe i just can't see the connection anymore. I think i will put it to the side for now.

Well, my writing has stopped completely again. I'm sorry I've been so distant. I think life's just causing me trouble right now. I am trying to work on my ideas so maybe soon I'll be posting again.
