To Ashes"
"BOSS"- Battlefield Operations Sortie Suit: The Archetype of humanoid frames, any Mecha can be correctly called a "BOSS". The BOSS units are the newest advancement of battlefield technology, having made nearly every other type of fighting unit obsolete, from infantry, to AFV's to tanks. BOSS units sometimes even have limited flight capability (more like extended jumping) and can even be deadly to air units.
BAM - Basic Armored Mecha: Training suits, BAM's are the first frames a pilot ever controls. Not outfitted for battle, they are rarely seen outside of military areas. Many pilots have fond memories of "BAM taining". around 10' tall
LEAF- Light Enhanced Armored Frame: Lighter, smaller frames used by standard infantry units, the most common. They are very quick and extremely versatile, able to be outfitted ofr just about any mission. Around 15' tall
MASS- Medium Armored Sortie Suit: Average units which are usually given to more elite units, more powerful, but slower. Next most common. Around 20' tall
HAM- Heavily Armored Mecha: the largest Standard Sortie suits, HAM's are uncommon and somewhat unwieldy. the sheer power they posess makes them useful for fighting just about anything on the battlefield, but it takes years of experience to be able to master a HAM. around 25' tall.
AHEAD- Armored Heavy Enhanced Artillery Dreadnought- The largest Frames, generally used as fire support, and as siege weapons. Extremely formidable, despite their very slow speed. Around 35' tall the Largest AHEAD is 40' tall.
Enemy: Independent Republic of Texas- IRT: Former State of America, Seceeded and formed an independent nation. declared war on North America and quickly captured mexico and most of Central America, have turned most of the Continental U.S. into a wasteland.
Protagonists: United Confederacy of Canada- UCC: A Confederacy of Canada and several former Northern U.S. states, the UCC is fighting to regain control of their own territories, and North America at large. Concerned with restoring the balance of power to pre-war state.
Others: Oceanic Australian Territories - OAT: Best Mecha producers in the world. Playing both sides of the current conflict in order to get real-world battle testing of their technologies.
Capitalist Republic of America -CRA: Remnants of the U.S.A, they were displaced when Texas seceeded and declared war on north america. Currently funding the UCC in hopes of getting their territory back when the UCC wins the war (hopefully)

All that I feel needs to be added is information about the specific squad the players will be in. Otherwise, it's a strong start for the sort of quick and simple roleplay you're wanting.

Yeah. I also need to detail the Mecha more. I will try to create several models of each type of Mecha, and post them up here for reference. For now, have my first model, a LEAF Unit:

This is a map of the current warzone. Red is IRT, Green is UCC. Blue is CRA, and Yellow is OAT (Note that only their Hawaiian territory is close enough for us to worry about for this setting) Tan is Noman's land, a contested warzone that cannot be attributed to any one faction. The Greenish-brown section at the bottom are unconquered territories.

To Ashes WikiI made a Wiki. It's very bare as I'm still trying to figure out how it works, in fact, only the frontpage has even vaguely useful information.

Mecha Stats system.
BOSS Stats
HP: Health Points: How much damage your mecha can take before it is destroyed. Many Mecha have an ejectable cockpit which launches when HP is critically low.
STR: Strength; the amount of weight your Mech can handle without being slowed down. This stat can be affected by: Weight of weapons or items your mech is carrying, and damage to your mech.
SPD: Speed; how fast your mech moves. a dual use stat that is a measure of it's agility to dodge attacks, and its speed to deal out attacks.
ARM: Armor; the defensive rating of your Mecha, How well it defends against damage from other mechas. Can have different ratings against different types of weapons ( IE; Piercing, blunt force, fire)
ATK: Attack; The relative effectiveness of attacks your Mecha can make. Augmented by weapons. Two kinds; Melee, and Ranged
Weapon stats
ATK: Attack; the relative damage output of a weapon. Adds to Mecha ATK Stat for final ATK rating. Two kinds; Melee, and Ranged
Range: The maximum distance this weapon is useful at. Melee, Short, Mid-range, Long-range, Extra long-range
Weight: A Weapon's weight. Go over on weight and your Mecha's SPD stat will be lowered. Generally, Heavier-weighted weapons have greater ATK stats.

Only vaguely related, it was too funny not to post Quote: [22:54] Kai, I have a problem with this. [22:54] I hate Canadians. [22:54] hahahaha [22:55] Seriously. D: [22:55] I find this humorous. [22:55] I love the antagonist and hate the protagonist. [22:55] lemme guess, you'd join the IRT? [22:55] When do I get my cowboy boots? [22:55] you also get a Stetson upon enlistment. [22:56] * Snake311 rushes over to the recruitment office and signs all the paperwork as fast as he can. [22:56] And a Colt .45 Revolver. [22:56] YES! [22:56] I love those. [22:56] Also, a bottle of Whiskey. [22:57] Oh my god. Is this heaven? [22:57] Well, your job is to Kill Canadians. [22:58] I could just picture myself standing next to a mech wearing a pair of cowboy boots drinking a bottle of whiskey and shooting my Colt .45 into the air. [22:58] And yes, in my heaven, I am probably killing Canadians. [22:58] And French people [22:58] * Kai rolls

Caruso Squad
A squad of greenhorn LEAF pilots, just out of BAM training, they have, with the exception of their CO, never been in battle. While the CO is a veteran of many battles, it is their first command, and they are somewhat unsure of how to control the new guys.
Piloting the UCC's new standard LEAF unit, they are being used as a sort of experiment to show how well the design works, and that even new pilots can be effective when piloting it.
Placed into battle without much time for team-building, Caruso squad must prove their worth not only to the top UCC brass, but to themselves.

To Ashes ForumsAwesomely enough, Wikidot.com has its own forums, so I've set up a special forum for To Ashes. This does not preclude the possibility of me running To ashes games in the SDRP though.

I've done some work to the Game mechanics, including giving Pilots stats that can augment their machine's combat effectiveness.
I'm currently in the process of writing Game Mechanic articles, but I'm lazy so it may take a while.
Anyone interested, please comment! I would love to hear your thoughts on my craziness.

The To Ashes system has been playtested successfully, and a game has started.
Anybody interested in this setting, feel free to join. It's a very simple process to apply and start playing.
Although at the moment The current 'game' is a bit full, so I'd probably have to start another game to include more people.
