As the third year passed by from that one horrible day the full moon's light found a blue lioness sitting high atop a cliff, her deep blue eyes searching the horizen for some sort of glimmer to pull her through. The scars from the boulder and rockslide are painfully obvious on her previously pure coat. Every night since she'd found herself by the lake she'd managed to crawl or limp up to the same spot, to simply search desperatly for a reason to keep going. For those three years she'd found those little reasons that kept her going...but this night there was no light on the horizon, no glimmer awaiting her seeking heart. She felt as though her very soul had been torn and now a few tears shone on her cheeks, though she could not feel them. That welcomed numbness she'd had to protect her from reality was nearly gone now, and as the sun sank behind the mountains she stood, prepared to make the final leap to end everything once and for all.
"I cannot take this aching loneliness any longer...All has departed from me...there is nothing left for my lost soul here...My journey is over this night..."

Having decided to leave the comfort of her own miniature sanctuary, Aylara trudged along, dragging her weary paws against the dirt. Everything had seemed lost, though for some reason a glimmer of hope - that feeling deep deep down inside her - kept her going.
As she found herself beneath a large cliff, and for no reason at all, the middle aged lioness looked up.... and spotted something. Another lioness? No... not just any lioness.... it was Kou! But.... could that even be possible? They had been separated for three years with no sign of each other, and now here was Aylara's eldest sister just above her?
Narrowing her eyes, she stared hard at the figure for what seemed like hours, debating if what she saw was real, or if her mind was simply playing tricks on her again. As she heard the lioness speak, though only just, not able to work out what she said, her eyes brightened. "Kou! OH Kou is it really you?! Dear sister please say its so!" she called loudly, pressing her two front paws against the base of the cliff and stared upwards.
A large smile quickly spread its way across her maw. Oh how long it had been. Three long agonizing years, and yet here before her.... or well above her, stood her eldest sister very much alive. Perhaps the Spirits had been looking after her after all. Perhaps..... her deepest desires could... no would finally come true.

3 years... 3 long years since that fateful day an earthquake tore apart what remained of the proud desert pride, and tore from Lorelei the two elder sisters that she held dear the only two that remained of her family. The spirits had forsaken her that day though at the beginning... She had felt as though it would pass. it wasn't to be.
Lorelei looked at the full moon so high in the sky covering everything in a soft blue glow. It was so peaceful right now, maybe... she could follow her sisters to the spirits, she hadn't been good enough to save them, or save her brother. So maybe it was time... Lorelei stood and began to walk about the trees.
How far she had fallen, she was nothing now and she had lost everything. Her connection to the spirits along with her pride and family...
Lorelei had lost all hope of finding her sisters a long time ago. Lorelei could no longer feel anything, over the years she had slowly become 'dead' in every sense of the word but the literal meaning. Silver moon beams lit her way as she padded from the forest silently.

Hearing someone call her name was the last thing in the world she'd expected by now. Though she would still jump she wished to see who held the familiar voice. So she padded to the edge to peek down, the numbness that remained keeping the joy in her heart from reaching the rest of her. For a long while she simply stared down at her sister, her eyes dark and cold. When she finally spoke her voice seemed detached, as if it belonged to somebody else.
"It is I Aylara...but do not shout for joy. I have no plans of staying on this realm any longer...It was good to see you once more before my spirit departed this cruel world...Goodbye..." Tears had begun falling down from her cheeks that she did not feel or simply ignored. Only more pain formed in her chest though she did feel immense joy from the sight. But as she pulled away and prepared to jump once more all emotions were ignored.
Taking in a deep long breath she took a running start and flew high into the sky until she felt it was high enough. Then at the last moment she pulled her wings tight to her back, her sash covering her eyes as she started her plummet to the ground.

Aylara's smile slowly faded as she watched her sister's every movement. She begged her sister to open her wings in those few moments that seemed to pass agonizingly slow. Open them... open your wings.... open them. Her mind repeated this several times, and when it failed to happen, Aylara panicked. "Dear Spirits... NO!" she shouted as she spread her own wings and with a kick of her hind legs took to the sky, aiming to meet her sister mid way, her paws outstretched, ready to slow her sister's descent if not catch her and stop it all together.

"NO" Aylara's scream seemed to pierce the night.
The familiar voice struck a chord deep within Lorelei, a cord of both remembrance and longing. It couldn't be could it? That hope that had been locked away slipped through a crack created by that longing. The spirits had to be playing tricks on her...
Lorelei began toward the voice almost in a trance "Spirits tell me if this is so please." quiet desperation hung in her now cold voice.
Suddenly as she reached the cliff the sudden image of her brother leaping in front of her came to her, it faded as quickly as it came revealing it was now her elder sister who had jumped. Not you too.. she thought, there was nothing she would be able to do from here. She would never be able to reach her. Another form came into view as the moonlight reflected of Aylara's black wings. Aylara was trying to stop Kou!
She couldn't even run to her sisters like the used to... she just stared on in horror praying to the spirits that had forsaken them to save her two sisters...

The scream sent a shock to her core as a wall broke to pieces inside her, causing her eyes to open wide as she watched her sister fly up toward her. She then caught sight of her youngest sister, both were watching and neither wanted her to continue the fall. The numbness finally fadeing she opened her wings enough so she would not knock both of them to the ground, then fell into her sisters out-stretched paws, tears streaming down her cheeks as her body shook from sobs.
"My sister...thank you..." With that said she let herself become limp as all energy seemed to leave her completally, though her own paws remained wrapped around Aylara.

Collapsing to the ground, Aylara felt winded as for a moment time seemed to spin. However, her eldest sister now lay trembling in her arms, and while her sadness overwhelmed Aylara, the middle child was glad to find her elder sister safe and very much alive. "My Sister, it will be alright! I am here now. It will be ok, I promise!" she said as she nuzzled her sister and gently petted Kou with a paw. She felt content to just lay there for a moment, or however long her sister needed, after all, she had no where else to go now and all the time in the world.

Lorelei still couldn't belive her eyes, her two sisters stood before her. slowly she approached, still unsure if they were mirages created by the spirits themseves...
"Sisters..." her voice held little warmth like it used to, she was entirely unsure now if she could even remember how to act around them. Did she even know how anymore?

Once she managed to regain some of her control, Kou took a deep breath to steady herself. Her once joyful eyes now held cold sorrow, but a spark of happiness had been started inside her and so she nuzzled Aylara. "I am unsure of how much will be alright but...We will survive together now." Slowly she stood, pushing herself toward her youngest sister, praying her scars would not be too obvious yet. It took her a moment to believe Lorelei was really there, but when she finally took in the fact she padded close and pulled her into a warm embrace. "It would seem we are together once more...I am so happy you are both safe..."

Aylara, whom had not yet noticed her younger sister because she was busy trying to save her elder sister, spun around, her jaw dropping to the floor. "Lorelei?! Heavens, is it really you?!" she cooed happily, bounding over and wrapping her arms around both Kou and Lorelei in a group hug. "Its so great to see you two a live and well!" she beamed a smile. She had failed to noticed that she seemed to be the happiest of the three.

If only she had found them earlier. Perhaps Lorelei wouldn't have been so cold. She wasn't even sure what to say anymore, she had shut herself off from the entire world. Her disbelief passed and the door to her emotions shut.
"It is good to see you again Sisters" he said her voice holding no emotion like it once would have.
Lorelei gave a nod to Aylara "It is I sister..." she allowed her sister to hug them both, the warm embrace she had longed for once empty to her now.

Returning the group hug, Kou's eyes never left her youngest sister. Something had changed about her, but then again she herself had changed as well. Sadness clouded over in her eyes though she continued to smile. The three of them had been forever changed, and she had no clue if anything would be like it used to again. "Aylara..Lorelei...back then I did not act my age. I did not do what an elder sister is supposed to. I'm sorry if you both have suffered because...I was unable to act accordingly..." In her mind it was her fault that they'd been seperated, and it tore her apart inside. At least Aylara seemed to be herself more or less.

Still excited by her sisters returning, Aylara cast off Kou's apology. "Do not apologize sister! It was not your fault, but that wretched Queen and her son that got us separated. But now we are together again and things can go back to how they once were!" she said vibrantly... happily. Clearly she had high hopes for this, but as she continued to watch the faces of her sisters, the realization of that never happening began to slowly sank in..... and her anger burning deep inside began to slowly sink out. Sinking her claws into the ground, she did her best to keep her smile.
