Story

In an ancient forest, teaming with mana, or 'magical energy' a little bird lives as a peaceful beast with an idyllic view of the world. Mana gave the bird surprising intelligence and thus he sought out the equally wise. He would often look upon the humans with wonder, longing to converse with beings so much larger and louder than himself. He feared them as well, and envied the power they held to make him feel such things. He often flew far from his territory just to observe the strange human-creatures in their villages, but felt deep down that he could never be a part of their world. Fortune came to Kay one day however. For a human became lost in the woods and drew the little bird's attention.

It was Sir Lazuli a manipulative and domineering knight who felt his purpose was simply to rise in power. His ego was larger than the forest he was lost in.. He had been scouting the mystic woods, making sure no strange beasts lurked that could ambush his men while he planned a great battle. His target was a harmless band of gypsies that resided in that region, merely looked down upon because they resorted to thievery at times and did not pay the king tithes. They choose to live far north of the castle and plains land that surrounded it. Kay found the staggering, angry, knight so disoriented that he was walking about in circles, and watched silently from the trees above. Yet Lazuli was no fool, he felt even the tiniest of eyes on him and spotted the bird above him.
He beckoned him down and , of course, Kay was so flattered by the attention given that he came to him. The knight begged the bird to lead his men back to him before knight fell and an attack became far less likely of success.

The overjoyed and flattered little bird blissfully and relentlessly pestered the knight's men and through his determination did lure them to Sir Lazuli. Reunited and rejuvenated the knight's assault was successful. Through it all Kay had remained perched on his shoulders and the bravery, intelligence and grit of that little bird impressed the man. As it was known. Lazuli was a practitioner of magic, so he decided to prolong the usefulness of the bird by giving him a human body. The blood of the innocents killed had to be used for such an effort, but the naive bird did not realize such great sacrifice was necessary for such a change. He was just happy to live the life hed only dreamt of. For Lazuli's efforts he rose to the rank of royal advisor and captain of the guard under King Azure. He used both his spells and remarkable powers of manipulation to puppet the King, using him to get the little bird that helped him knighthood.

Time passed and the the bird, now known as Sir Kay Rhys, took on his old benefactor's role of dark knight.Yet the life Kay longed for was not the one he was dealt. rebels wanted to step in and stop the dark knight. He formed a formidable group Eventually the sharp-eyed Kay lead to the discovering of the leader of the rebels and he was captured and imprisoned. He managed to escape and is now a wanted man that the likes of Lazuli and the royal court have demonized. They make him seem like a madman who wishes to ruin Azure and the poor people now see rebels as terrorists, instead of saviors.

Few can stand up to Sir Kay and the royal advisor Lord Lazuli for without whom he would certainly perish.

Age: appears to be in his twenties though in reality was about four as a bird

Special Abilities: Resistant to disease and aging as an after effect of his long and continuous expose to magic.
Personality: Bitter and manipulative like the lord he serves, he has mastered deception to win the favor of villagers.
Likes: As a bohemian waxwing bird, his diet was consistantly berries, so as a human he still partakes heavilly of blue berries and bilberries. Most of his other bird-like habits have been supressed and he favors trips to fairs and the countryside.
Dislikes: Natural predators of the birds such as cats bother him even as a human far larger than his former foes.

Dislikes: Wasting food, stealing from honest people, Lazuli and his loyal dog Kay
Bio: Kana is part gypsy part aristocrat, her father having a fling with her mother. When her mother found out she was pregnant she fled, seeking her original clan in the plains beyond the forest. Her mother insisted Kana keep her fathers name, and Kana, being a small child, agreed wholeheartedly. Kana did not inherit her fathers prowess with magic, but instead got the talent for theivery and stealth from her mother. When Kana was seven, Lazuli and his men attacked, taking her mothers life, along with everyone she had come to know and love. Only a handful of small gypsy boys survived, and they have been together ever since.
Appearance: Kana has brown skin, a common trait among gypsy blood. But also has startling pure white hair and shining emerald green eyes,traits that Eckhams are famous for. Her hair falls down to mid-back, and is usually tied back from the base of her skull. She has a slim form, but lean, from years of hard life. Her face is well rounded, and her bottom lip sticks out slightly farther than her upper one, in a slightly pouty manner.
